The Federal High Court Awards Ownership Of $15 Million James Ibori Bribe Money To Federal Government.



The ownership of the $15 miliion that ex-Delta state governor James Ibori allegedly used as a bribe has been awarded to the Federal Government.

The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja ruled that the Delta state government failed to prove beyond reasonable doubt that the sum belongs to it.
The Delta state government claimed ownership of the money allegedly given by Mr. Ibori, as bribe to stave-off arrest by former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu.

Giant George, the world's tallest dog ever has died in the home in Tuscon, Arizona one month before his eighth birthday in accordance with Dailymail.
Passing away surrounded by owners on October 17th, the blue Great Dane measured 43 inches tall from
paw to shoulders and was able to stand seven-feet-three-inches tall on his hind legs.Weighing 245 pounds, George was in reality the runt of his litter when born but grew around be identified by Guinness World Records in 2010 not only because the World's Tallest Dog, but the Tallest Dog Ever.

Just In: 6 Boko Haram Members Pilgrims Nabbed As They Return From Mecca



Security personnel have arrested three terror suspects at the Maiduguri International Airport. The suspected Boko Haram suspects were said to be returning to the country from Saudi Arabia where they had gone to on the holy pilgrimage.

“The suspected terrorists were among the first batch of pilgrims that returned to Borno from Saudi and  they were arrested by combined team of police, military personnel, immigration and men of the Department of Security services (DSS) at the airport as soon as they arrived, ” a police source in Maiduguri told this agency.

Scientists discover Gold Growing On Trees in Australia?



 
Their research, published in the journal Nature Communications, suggested plants were absorbing gold particles found around the soils of eucalyptus trees, Dr Lintern explained.
“The eucalypt acts as a hydraulic pump – its roots extend tens of metres in to the
ground and draft water containing the gold.

"Since the gold is likely to be toxic to the plant, it's moved to the leaves and branches where it could be released or shed to the ground.

Lagos determines, investigates suspected resources of cholera



An unnamed female food vendor of African salad, otherwise known as Abacha at Cele Bus-stop junction, suspected to have been the primary source of contamination of the reported cholera cases in Oshodi/Isolo Local Government Area of Lagos, has been identified and is being investigated.

A source in the office of the Lagos State Epidemiology Unit and Disease Control, who preferred anonymity, confirmed that samples of suspected food preparations believed to have been consumed by most of the victims who came down with symptoms of cholera infection in the area, have been obtained for laboratory analysis.

Federal Gov. Recovers ₦188Bn From Ghost Workers In 215 Ministries




The Minister of Information and Supervising Minister of Defence, Mr. Labaran Maku, has disclosed that the President Goodluck Jonathan led administration has recovered the sum of N118.9 billion from ghost workers since the beginning of the year.

The minister made the disclosure during a World Press conference held in Abuja, where he stated that about 46,821 ghost workers have so far been identified from 215 Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs, with the application of the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System, IPPIS.

Teenage driver crushes toddler in Lagos



When three-year-old Ikeoluwa Olaniyi was playing with her friends in her grandfather’s compound in Ire Akari Estate, Isolo, Lagos, on September 3, 2013, little did she know that death was lurking.
PUNCH Metro learnt that a teenage motorist, Chinyere Wagbaranta, in company with her brother, Chisom, and a police corporal attached to Police Mobile Force 22, Felix Adebayo, in a Mercedes Benz Sports Utility Vehicle, drove into the compound carelessly, hitting the little girl and crushing her skull.
The victim’s grandfather, Adesola Elegbede, who spoke to our correspondent while fighting back tears, said Ikeoluwa was his first grandchild.

Aviation Minister, Stella Oduah approved purchase of ₦255m bulletproof cars – NCAA



The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority on Thursday told the House of Representatives Committee on Aviation that the Ministry of Aviation approved the controversial purchase of the N255m bulletproof cars for Ms Stella Oduah.

The Director of Aerodrome in the NCAA, Mr. Joyce Nkem-Akonam, made this known during the  committee’s public sitting  in Abuja.
Nkem-Akonam, who handled the transaction  as  the acting managing director  of the NCAA,  had made spirited efforts to defend the purchase.

Police arrest Dino Melaye for calling for the removal of the Minister of Aviation, Ms. Stella Odua (photos)




 Dino Melaye, has been arrested by men of the Nigerian Police Force after a protest in Abuja.
According to reports, the police in Abuja on Wednesday, October 23, 2013, arrested the Executive Director, Anti-Corruption Network, Dino Melaye, after the former House of Representatives member led pro-democracy activists on a protest, calling for the removal of the Minister of Aviation, Ms. Stella Oduah, over the armoured car scandal.

Nollywood actress sues AIT for ₦5m over movie




 

 Nollywood actress and producer, Queen Temitope Oluwa has has instituted a legal suit against Raymond Dokpesi owned Africa Independent Television, AIT, within the airing of one of her flicks, Atupa Emi.
The Saratu star filed a legal case with the aid of her attorney, M.A Bashua & Co. suing the television company to the tune of N5million.
When contacted, Queen said,


I don't have much to talk about but I've instituted a legal case against AIT over an infringement on my rights as a resident and as the copyright owner of Atupa Emi, that is illegally been aired on the medium.”  In a letter served the management of AIT, Queen is demanding the whopping amount of money as a fee for breaching of her intellectual property rights to the flick, Atupa Emi.

Associated Airlines Lagos Plane Crash: Sad as Surviving Victim’s Toes, Fingers Amputated




 A survivor of the Associated Plane Crash that occurred on October 3rd, Queeneth Owolabi's 10 toes and five fingers on her left hand were eventually amputated four days ago.
                
Apparently Queeneth, a mother of two, 10 toes and the five fingers of her left hand had been marked for amputation some days ago because of the infection that had set in but for the resistance of her husband who had appealed and hoped the Federal Government would intervene and his wife would be flown abroad for treatment to avoid the amputation.

Kwara State governor sacks all his commissioners & advisers.



Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, this afternoon Wednesday October 23rd sacked all their state commissioners, his special advisers, senior special assistants, and special assistants. He basically dissolved his cabinet.  He then asked all of the sacked commissioners handy over their ministries with their respective permanent secretaries.

Feyi Agagu, Associated Airlines Plane Crash Survivor, out of London Hospital



Word out right now has it that Feyi, son of the late former governor of Ondo State, Olusegun Agagu, was yesterday discharged from the Orthopaedic Ward of Princess Grace Hospital, Nottingham Place, London a couple of weeks after his admission in to the hospital.
 
Africa Examiner reports that Feyi was discharged after he was deemed fit and considered out of danger.
Feyi and Akin, his in-law were two of the survivors of the October 3, 2013 Lagos air crash.

President Goodluck Jonathan sets up committee to probe aviation Minister, Stella Oduah car scandal




In line with the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Reuben Abati, President Goodluck Jonathan has setup a three-man panel to investigate the N225million armoured car scandal involving aviation minister, Stella Oduah.  Mr Abati said the panel will soon be chaired by the immediate past Head of Service, Sali Bello and will include the National Security Adviser, Colonel Sambo Dasuki, and Air Vice Marshal Dik Iruenebere. The panel is to find out why the cars were bought and whether the procurement of the cars followed due process or not. Stella Oduah was conspicuously absent at today's Federal Executive Council meeting.

18-Year Old Girl Commits Suicide After Gang R*ape In Amarata, Yenoga Bayelsa



The Nigerian police in Bayelsa has confirmed that an 18-year-old girl committed suicide after a gang rape by three unidentified men. The Spokesman of the state Police Command, Mr Alex Akhigbe, told newsmen in Yenagoa that the girl killed herself in Amarata, Yenagoa, Local Government Area of Bayelsa, southern Nigeria.

“I believe the deceased decided to hang herself due to the attendant shame and stigmatisation she experienced after the rape incident,” Akhigbe said. He said that the command had launched investigation into the alleged rape charges filed by the deceased family.

Thisday foreign editor Paul Ohia dies - R.I.P



Thisday Foreign and Diplomatic Editor, Mr. Paul Ohia, was found dead yesterday October 22nd in his official car, a white Kia Optima along Marine Road, Apapa, Lagos.
 
Based on eyewitness reports, the deceased had parked his car for many hours by the side of the trail, which aroused the suspicion of passersby, prompting them to maneuver closer to confirm him. The eyewitnesses said the deceased had reclined the driver's seat and lay about it as though he was sleeping; until they opened the car doors to learn he was motionless and lifeless.

Atiku, 215 others sign petition to end ASUU strike



Two hundred and sixteen Nigerians at home and in the Diaspora have signed an online petition asking the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities to end the industrial dispute which has kept public universities shut for four months.

The petition launched on change.org, a go-to site for web protests, is asking President Goodluck Jonathan and the National President of ASUU, Dr. Nassir Faggae, to reach an “amicable consensus.”
In the petition entitled, “Mr. President and the Academic Staff Union of Universities: Please End the ASUU Strike now,” the petitioners said the Presidency should stop playing politics with education of the Nigerian youth.

Great Men of the Nigerian Police Force have arrested a man identified as Mr Tonna Enedo for killing his own mother for the objective of money-making rituals. Confessing to the crime, Mr Enedo said:

“I was asked by the principle priest of the society that if I desired to be rich, I ought to go and enjoy a mad woman. I should  also go and sleep with a human for seven hours; I should also to fast for 7 days dry.
“I was told that I'd first kill my father and the final stage is that I should go mad and after I may have completed all the problem, I will end up being the richest man in Africa, if not in the complete world.”
Mr Enedo blamed his action on his quest to earn money at all cost. He said he has already slept in a mortuary for seven hours as one of the conditions for the money-making rituals.

BlackBerry resumes BBM rollout for iPhone, Android users



Following the delay caused by a software leak, BlackBerry has officially resumed the release of its BlackBerry Messenger app for Android and iPhones.

Samsung customers in Nigeria and other sub-Sahara African countries can now download the BBM app from the Samsung Apps Store, while iPhone and other Android-based smartphone users will be able to download the app in three days’ time, a release from BlackBerry on Tuesday indicated.

A former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon (retd.), has appealed to Nigerian politicians to stop overheating the polity, asking them to sheathe their swords in the overall interest of the country.
Gowon spoke in Abuja on Monday as the Chairman of the Edwin Kaigbodo Clark Foundation’s N25bn fund raising ceremony.

He said, “Love your country above anything. This bickering must stop. You must replace this bickering with love, patriotism and loyalty. Shower our fatherland with love and strength.

The head of Russia's air force, General Viktor Bondarev, got an interesting present during his visit to Iran - an Iranian copy of a US spy drone ScanEagle. The drone represents "the technical capabilities of the Islamic Iran," according to The Guardian.

The Yasseer drone was provided to Russia on the sidelines of a meeting in Tehran between Bondarev and Farzad Esmayeeli, the air defense commander of Khatam al-Anbia, the Revolutionary Guards' military and industrial base.
"The drone built by the Islamic republic's Revolutionary Guards is a symbol of the technical capabilities of the Islamic Iran and today we presented a real model of it as a gift to Russian air force … and the Russian people," Esmayeeli said after meeting.

The US must end drone strikes in Pakistan on the pretext of the war on terrorism; Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said ahead of his crucial meeting with US President Barack Obama at the White House on Wednesday. He also added that this issue has become a "major irritant" in the bilateral ties between the two countries.

Aviation loopholes: Nigerians Scared Of Flying, boycott Domestic Air Travel
