President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday said that Nigeria would disappoint all those who predicted that the country would break up in 2015 by continuing to remain one indivisible entity.
Thursday, August 8, 2013
“For those who are predicting that this country will separate in 2015 based on the fault lines as of the time of amalgamation, they will know that this prediction will not be of any consequence. Nigeria will continue to remain one indivisible entity,” the President said.
Jonathan said this while receiving members of the Muslim community in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja who paid him Sallah homage at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, as part of the activities marking this year’s Eid-el-Fitri.

“Solitary confinement is worst than hard labour,” she said.
“When you stretch your hands you touch the walls, you are reduced to a nobody.”
She was recently listed as one of the most powerful women in the world. Her name conjures up the image of an Amazon who symbolises excellence and the height of intellectual achievement. She is by no means a role model and a worthy example of the level Nigerian women can attain if given the opportunity to excel. There is also no doubt that the Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, is one of Nigeria’s proud exports. One cannot but admire her simplicity and self-effacing demeanour. Personally, I am in awe of her spartan fashion style.
THE embattled Majority Leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Mr. Chidi Lloyd, finally regained his freedom at about 4pm on Wednesday.
The Deputy Speaker of the House, Mr. Leyii Kwanee, who informed our correspondent of the development in a telephone interview, said Lloyd’s counsel had fulfilled all his bail conditions.
Kwanee said, “We have fulfilled all the bail conditions and Lloyd has been released. We have been at the Port Harcourt Prison to ensure his release. By tomorrow (today), his physician will examine his health condition.
“On Monday, we will also approach the court to appeal for a waiver of one of the bail conditions, which is the depositing of his International Passport with the court.”
Meanwhile, there was anxiety in Port Harcourt on Wednesday when security operatives took away the Majority Leader after the court granted him bail.
GBAM: Any party that fields Jonathan’ll lose —APC **Opposition confused, desperate power mongers, says PDP
The All Progressives Congress on Wednesday continued its war of words with the Presidency and the Peoples Democratic Party over the suitability of Dr. Goodluck Jonathan for the presidential election.
Any party that fields Jonathan’ll lose —APC **Opposition confused, desperate power mongers, says PDP
While the APC believes that fielding Jonathan as a candidate would be suicidal for any party, the Presidency and the PDP argued that he remains the best to contest and win a presidential poll in the country at present.
The latest war of attrition was spurred by Tuesday’s invitation to the President by the APC Interim National Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande, to join the newly formed political party if he was fed up with the crises in the PDP.
Akande had said, “We (the APC) don’t even close our door to the PDP. If Jonathan is tired of the crises in the PDP, he is welcome in the APC.”
The Presidency however reacted immediately to the invitation, saying it was an acknowledgment by the APC of Jonathan’s sterling leadership qualities.
I shed hot, bloody tears for the future of Nigeria. It is a pity that the so called 'Giant of Africa' is gradually becoming a grave.
Thank God for the squabble between the PDP and APC; at least, one thing that was achieved was the realization that we youths of this country have been totally sidelined from the most important things.
The average age of the Leaders in these two parties is sixty (60). According to one of them from the APC camp, the National Youth Leader of the PDP camp is seventy (70) years old; yet we say we are the future of Nigeria.
