How Ajimobi won 2011 Oyo gov poll – Tokyo





Embattled Chairman, National Union of Road Transport Workers in Oyo State, Alhaji Lateef Akinsola (a.k.a Tokyo), on Monday, said the Action Congress of Nigeria in the state would not have won the April 2011 governorship election in the state if he had no disagreement with former Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala.  He also claimed that the victory would not have been possible if Senator Rashidi Ladoja had not left the Peoples Democratic Party.

No clue to TV presenter’s whereabouts– Police





The Lagos State Police Command has said there is no clue yet on the popular TV presenter, Alhaji Razaq Gawat, who has gone missing since July 10. Despite that, the police said they had not reached a dead end as investigation was still ongoing. The Police Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide, who spoke with our correspondent on the phone on Monday, said, “What we did was to see whether the fingerprints found on his car would match those of the arrested suspects but none matched. “All the suspects arrested were picked on circumstances and they have all been released when there was nothing linking them with the incident.
“No clue was left on the man’s vehicle. The vehicle was carefully parked off the road and there was no sign of struggle in it. With this, we cannot say he was abducted. We are still treating the case as that of a missing person.”

Police disqualify SSCE, Third Class holders from recruitment





Police Service Commission says holders of Secondary School Certificate would no longer be accepted into the Nigeria Police Force as constables. It said the minimum entry requirement now was Ordinary National Diploma. The commission also stated that Third Class degree holders were no longer accepted as Cadet Inspectors, in line with the reform in the force. PSC Commissioner and Chairman, Public Affairs Committee of the commission, Ms. Comfort Obi, who stated this at a news conference in Abuja on Monday, explained that the commission had reviewed the recruitment process into the police.

Two Boys Docked For Jointly Raping Minor




Two boys aged between 15 and 16 were on Monday arraigned before a Mararaba Upper Area Court over an alleged rape of a girl, 15.  The police prosecutor, Nasir Shuaibu, told the court that when the incident happened, it was brought before the `A’ Division, Police Station in Mararaba, on Dec.11.
He said that the two accused persons, alongside three other suspects conspired and raped a 15-year–old girl in an uncompleted building which served as a hide-out for the group.

Doomsday Rumours: Man Arrested In China After Slashing 23 School Children, 93 Detained




The doomsday rumours of December 21 have generated fears in the heart of many and have even affected several others psychologically.
Chinese authorities have therefore detained 93 people accused of spreading the rumours and also arrested a man who slashed 23 children at a school after he was “psychologically affected” by such predictions, the Xinhua state news agency reported on Monday. According to the reports, the 93 people, from seven provinces detained include members of the banned “Almighty God” cult, adding that they were detained for “handing out leaflets about the apocalypse and spreading rumours”.

Pipeline Explodes In Lagos




A vandalised Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) oil pipeline on Monday exploded in Abule-Ado village, near Ijegun in Iba Local Council Development Area of Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria.  According to an eyewitness, the raging fire started around 9pm on Monday when about 30 people were scooping fuel from the vandalised pipeline into hundreds of 50 kilogramme jerry cans.  The Information officer of the National Emergency Management Agency for South West, Ibrahim Farinloye told Channels Television that there might be several points of fire.

World’s First Gay Bible: Includes Chapter And Verses That Promote Same Sex





A book claiming to be the world's first 'gay bible' has been published to coincide with the debate on same-sex marriage. Titled the 'Queen James Bible', its editors claim that it is a re-working of the King James Bible translated in a way that 'prevents homophobic misinterpretation of God's Word'.
'Homosexuality was first overtly mentioned in the Bible in 1946 in the Revised Standard Version. There is no mention of or reference to homosexuality in any Bible prior to this – only interpretations have been made', the book's official website said.

Wife Of Conductor Killed By Policeman Seeks Justice





Kafayat Adeoye, whose bus conductor-husband, Kazeem, was shot dead by a trigger-happy policeman on November 7, 2012, at Tipper Garage, Ketu, Lagos, over N50 change, has called on police authorities to ensure that justice is done. Kazeem was shot dead by a policeman attached to the Mopol 50, Abuja, Corporal Oluwakiyesi Adegboyega,  Kafayat and her husband had a seven-year-old son.  PUNCH Metro tracked down Kazeem’s wife on Saturday; at the time of the incident, no one knew the deceased’s family.
Kafayat stated that she was more devastated because her husband was killed by a policeman who is paid to protect members of the public.

Patience Jonathan To Lights National Christmas Tree In Abuja





First Lady Dame Patience Goodluck Jonathan will tomorrow light the first ever Nigerian National Christmas Tree in Abuja, the nation’s capital.  The national Christmas tree was initiated by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) with the aim of showcasing Nigerian culture to the world. A statement issued by the special adviser on media and publicity to the minister of state for FCT, Oluyinka Akintunde, disclosed that the Christmas tree, which is 20.9 metres high, is located at the Unity Fountain Park beside Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja and designed in the national colours of green and white.

Imo Govt. Offers Cash Reward For Nkiru Sylvanus' Whereabouts





Three days after the kidnap of the Special Assistant on public matters to Rochas Okorocha, governor of Imo State, Nkiru Sylvanus, the government of the state has finally responded to the kidnap of the governor's aide.
In a statement released through the state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Chinedu Offor, the state government announced a substantial reward to anyone with useful information about the whereabouts of the abducted actress.

Angry Man Kills Girlfriend During Argument





A shamba boy killed his lover in Nakuru, Kenya following an argument by hitting her with a blunt object on the head before he presented himself to his employer. Sarbei chief Samson Towett confirmed the incident and said that the man had been involved in a row with his lover which turned violent and the boy hit his lover with a blunt object which killed her instantly.  The man went to his employer’s house after the incident and narrated the whole incident. His employer called neighbors and the area chief who together were led to the scene of the incident.  Towett said that they alerted officers from Menengai police station who arrived at the scene and arrested the shamba boy.  Police confirmed that he will be arraigned in court once investigations are completed.

The woman’s body was taken to Nakuru Hospital mortuary.

Beautiful Nollywood actress, Nkiru Sylvanus who doubles as a Special Adviser to the Imo State Governor on Public Affairs was on Sunday morning abducted along with her PA by unidentified men from her home in Owerri.  The above photo was taken by Kenneth Okoli at the location where they were shooting a movie, a day before.  Nkiru Sylvanus still remains missing as her abductors are reportedly demanding a sum of N100m for her release. Also there is not much information coming from security agencies regarding efforts to rescue her from her abductors.

Angry Mob Lynched And Killed Man For Raping 80-Year-Old Woman





A man was lynched in Nyeri, Kenya by angry residents after he was caught raping an 80-year-old woman.
The man’s accomplice was also severely injured in the incident. According to residents of Kahacha village, the two robbers attacked the elderly woman at her home where they raped her in turns before robbing her off Sh. 15, 000. The woman managed to raise alarm as the two tried to escape.

Man Murders Wife, Then Flees With House Girl





Police in Kisumu, Kenya are looking for a middle aged man and house help as suspect in a murder case involving a dead woman. The woman was killed using a blunt object following a domestic row at Oboch market in Nyalenda. A witness said that they were called by the woman’s house help who had found the woman unconscious. The house help informed them that the couple had a fight at about 5 a.m. before the woman’s husband left.
