Sierra Leone capital now in grip of Ebola

The traditional healer was not at home when Saudatu Koroma arrived at his clinic in the bustling Wellington neighbourhood of Sierra Leone’s capital. This probably saved his life. Saudatu was suffering from the incurable Ebola virus, the first person to contract the disease in the capital, and was on the run from the hospital.
“She couldn’t eat … couldn’t sleep,” said Sulaiman Foday, a neighbour who was present at the time. Foday watched as police and a medical team arrived at the scene to recover the patient, who was by now lying on the floor of the healer’s house.

Obasanjo Knows Of Jonathan’s One-Term Pact; President Now Begging Him To Deny

The 5 northern states governors opposed to the plan by President Goodluck Jonathan to run for another term in 2015 have said that former President Olusegun Obasanjo was very much aware that Jonathan indeed agreed to serve for only one term, after spending two years of Yar-Adua's Administration.
“We are impressed with the report that Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has already taken a unique and unprecedented step of declaring that he would only want to be a one-term president. If so, whether he knows it or not, that is a sacrifice and it is statesmanly.

Why Okonjo-Iweala should resign now!

She was recently listed as one of the most powerful women in the world. Her name conjures up the image of an Amazon who symbolises excellence and the height of intellectual achievement. She is by no means a role model and a worthy example of the level Nigerian women can attain if given the opportunity to excel. There is also no doubt that the Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, is one of Nigeria’s proud exports. One cannot but admire her simplicity and self-effacing demeanour. Personally, I am in awe of her spartan fashion style.

"I was raped in Dubai, now I face prison sentence" - Norwegian woman

Norwegian interior designer Marte Deborah Dalelv has spoken out after being handed a 16-month prison sentence in Dubai -- after she went to police to report she had been raped by a colleague.
The 24-year-old was convicted and sentenced on charges of having unlawful se-x, making a false statement and illegal consumption of alcohol.

Her story is dominating the headlines in Norway, and has raised serious questions over the way women who allege se-xual assault are treated in the United Arab Emirates.

Dalelv, who had been working at an interior design firm in Qatar since September 2011, told CNN on Saturday how a work trip to Dubai in March with three colleagues turned into a nightmare.

Boko Haram: Surrender And Embrace Amnesty Now, Jonathan Warns

The military, yesterday, extended the curfew in some parts of Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, to 24 hours, in continuation of the emergency rule imposed on the state alongside Yobe and Adamawa States, on Tuesday, to curb Boko Haram insurgent activities.

The curfew extension came on a day President Goodluck Jonathan told the insurgents to surrender and embrace the amnesty proposed for them by the Federal Government.

Northern governors also warned against civilian casualty in the implementation of the emergency rule in the three north-eastern states.

Reports, yesterday, said residents of a community in Borno State, Marte, were fleeing air strikes by the Nigerian Airforce jets and helicopter gunships on suspected Boko Haram camps.

The spokesman for the Joint Task Force (JTF) in Borno State, Lt. Col. Sagir Musa, listed 12 neighbourhoods in Maiduguri where a 24-hour curfew was being imposed.

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) also said troops arrested 65 suspected Boko Haram members trying to enter the Borno State capital after fleeing aerial bombardment elsewhere.

The DHQ insinuated that the insurgents were trying to infiltrate Maiduguri.

The imposition of the curfew in the Borno State capital was said to pave the way for the troops deployed to the state to embark on a house- to- house search, as well as face insurgents still residing within the metropolis and Jere council area.

'Stop indulging in ora-l se-x now!' CLAM pastor Wole Oladiyun warns

Senior Pastor of Christ Livingspring Apostolic Ministry, (CLAM) pastor Wole Oladiyun says people who indulge in ora-l se-x are damaging their glory.
"Homosexualism, lesbianism, beslialism and incest will disfigure your glory. God hates them. Prostitution, adultery and fornication will grieve a glorious destiny. May I equally add that men and women sucking their private parts are damaging their glories. Demonic partners have done a lot of havoc through this act. Honestly, it is simply unhygienic and dirty.
I like unhygienic and dirty. Dear future husband, please take note! Hehe!

Before Him, The Govt Didn’t Care About Us…Now Children Have Everything – Venezuelan Says About Chave

Venezuelans filed past the open casket of late President Hugo Chavez as he lay in state on Thursday after throngs of weeping loyalists gave the firebrand leftist a rousing farewell on the streets.
As Venezuelans began three days of goodbyes, an election to succeed Chavez loomed, after the curtain came down on a 14-year socialist presidency that heightened class tensions in the oil-rich South American nation.
Hundreds of thousands waved flags and chanted “Chavez lives” as his hearse crawled across the capital Wednesday in a seven-hour trip from the hospital where he died to the academy he once called his second home.

In September 2012, TheBlaze reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin had been grabbing up gold “as fast as he can get his hands on it.” And since that initial report, he has only doubled his efforts. “Not only has Putin made Russia the world’s largest oil producer, he’s also made it the biggest gold buyer,” Bloomberg notes.
“His central bank has added 570 metric tons of the metal in the past decade, a quarter more than runner-up China,” the report adds. “The added gold is also almost triple the weight of the Statue of Liberty.”

Sanusi Makes U-Turn; Now Calls for Sack of 50% Political Appointees.Do You Agree ?

The governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi has lashed out on those calling for his sack over his purported statement that the federal government should reduce the work force in the country by 50%. He said he was not talking about the sack of civil servants but a substantial reduction in the size of political appointees who, according to him, take 70 percent of government revenue leaving a mere 30 percent for about 160 million Nigerians.
