Leave The ‘Torn Umbrella’ And Join Us Now – CPC Beckons On PDP Govs



The Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, has reacted to the possibility of governors elected under the platform of the PDP decamping to the newly formed All Progressive Congress.
As the race towards 2015 gains momentum, coupled with the crisis rocking the ruling party and uncertainty over whether President Goodluck Jonathan will throw his hat in the ring, there are speculations that PDP governors will jump ship in their bid to stop the president.

Buhari can’t win 2015 elections —Presidency •He’s a major threat to PDP —CPC



The presidency on Friday said a former Head of State and three-time presidential candidate, Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), stood no chance of winning the 2015 general election.
Buhari, during the inauguration of the Congress for Progressive Change Merger Committee in Abuja on Wednesday, had said the ongoing merger talks by the major opposition political parties would determine if he would run for the presidency in 2015.
The Katsina State-born general, who had earlier said he would not run for presidency in 2015, having failed to win the election three times, said the merger might make him change his mind.

We’re merging to save Nigeria –ACN, CPC, ANPP




The three leading opposition political parties, the Action Congress of Nigeria, Congress for Progressive Change and the All Nigeria Peoples Party, on Tuesday said their plan to merge was to save the country from collapse.Their leaders spoke in Abuja at the presentation of Manifesto of a Nigerian Opposition Politics, written by a civil rights activist, Mr. Salihu Lukman. According to the ACN National Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande, all progressives must unite in order to send the ruling Peoples Democratic Party out of power in 2015.

Buhari not mediating between Boko Haram and government – CPC



The news is a ploy to tarnish
Buhari’s image, CPC says.
Nov. 2 (PREMIUM TIMES) – The opposition Congress for progressive change party, CPC, has said the emerging media link between its national leader, Muhammed Buhari, and a planned parley between Boko Haram and the Nigerian government is aimed at tarnishing his image.

The party denied that the terrorist group appointed Buhari, to mediate between them and Federal Government in a planned peace process.
The Party’s National Publicity Secretary, Rotimi Fashakin, said this in a statement on Thursday.
Mr Fashakin told PREMIUM TIMES that Buhari has never been contacted by either Boko Haram or government to mediate any talks.
