No Chibok Girls Released – Defence Headquaters Nigeria




Minutes after reports by local and international sites like the BBC that the Chibok girls had been released this evening,the Nigerian army has rubbished the reports.They say the buses were conveying other individuals.. The BBC earlier reported that the Nigerian Army Spokesperson confirmed the girls had been driven into the Barracks this evening and more girls were still being released..

Dr. Tunji Calls For Suspension Of 2015 Election Until Chibok Girls Are Released





Founder of the defunct Nigeria Advanced Party and pro-democracy activist, Dr. Tunji Braithwaite, on Wednesday, said that the 2015 election should not take place unless the 223 Chibok schoolgirls still in Boko Haram captivity are released.

Dr. Braithwaite, who joined other activists at a rally held at the Event Garden in Lagos as part of activities to mark 100 days of captivity of the girls, decried the manner at which politicians go about their electioneering activities in the face of insecurity in the country.

Dino Melaye released !



Following an arrest in Abuja during the protest against Aviation Minister, Stella Oduah; Otunba Dino Melaye, the right activist might have been released. A post on Dino Melaye twitter handle suggests that he has been released. When asked by a number of his twitter followers and fans on his released, he simply answered ‘yes'to the question. Anglican Archbishop Ignatius Kattey Released By Kidnappers



Reporters has learnt that Anglican bishop Ignatius Kattey, who was kidnapped nine days ago by an armed gang in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State, has been released by his abductors. Kattey is the second highest-ranking Anglican prelate in Nigeria. SaharaReporters spoke to Archbishop Kattey’s daughter, Margaret, who confirmed her father’s release. She disclosed that the bishop returned home last night around 8:00 p.m. He was “hale and hearty,” according to his daughter. Another family source declined to say if any ransom was paid to secure the bishop’s release. However, a police source in Rivers State told SaharaReporters that several millions of naira was shelled out to the kidnappers from contributions made by several state governments as well as the office of the Nigerian president.

Rivers Assembly leader,Mr. Chidi Lloyd gets ₦10m bail, released



THE embattled Majority Leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Mr. Chidi Lloyd, finally regained his freedom at about 4pm on Wednesday.
The Deputy Speaker of the House, Mr. Leyii Kwanee, who informed our correspondent of the development in a telephone interview, said Lloyd’s counsel had fulfilled all his bail conditions.
Kwanee said, “We have fulfilled all the bail conditions and Lloyd has been released. We have been at the Port Harcourt Prison to ensure his release. By tomorrow (today), his physician will examine his health condition.
“On Monday, we will also approach the court to appeal for a waiver of one of the bail conditions, which is the depositing of his International Passport with the court.”
Meanwhile, there was anxiety in Port Harcourt on Wednesday when security operatives took away the Majority Leader after the court granted him bail.

According to information posted on the official website of NYSC, orientation course for prospective corps members kicks off on Tuesday, 5 November and ends three weeks later on November 26.

Kidnapped Alhaji Shettima Ali Monguno released



Elder statesman and former Petroleum Minister, Alhaji Shettima Ali Monguno, who was kidnapped on Friday May 3rd, has been released. The 87 year old politician and philanthropist was released today Monday May 6th.  
Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno State said no ransom was paid to secure his release.

Nigeria: Kidnapped high-ranking Lagos govt. official released unhurt





Security - Mr. Kehinde Bamigbetan, Chairman of the Ejigbo Local Council Development Area, a suburb of Lagos, the commercial capital of Nigeria, who was abducted by gunmen Monday, has been released unhurt, according to local media reports.

The reports said the Head of the Council’s Information Unit, Rabiu Hassan, confirmed the release of the Chairman who was kidnapped Monday.

The reports said Mr. Bamigbetan, who was abducted a few metres from his home, was released over night Friday after the kidnappers collected over 20 million Naira (about US$ 133,000) in ransom.

The reports said the kidnappers had asked for a ransom of US$ 1 million.

Family members said Mr. Bamigbetan, a former Chief Press Secretary to former Governor Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is in good health.

Detained Leadership journalists released, sue IG for ₦10m




Two journalists with the LeadershipNewspapers, detained by the police on Monday were released on Tuesday evening.
The Group News Editor of LeadershipNewspapers Group, Mr. Tony Amoekedo, and correspondent, Chibuzo Ukaibe, were detained alongside two others at the Force Headquarters following a story their newspaper published on a “presidential directive” to attack key opposition political parties’ leaders.
They were however asked to report at the Force Headquarters daily for further investigation.

Kidnapped Nigerian Press Council Director Released



Chief P.O Agbebaku Izobo, the Ag Director/Liason officer of the Nigerian Press Council, who was abducted on the 26h of March by four gun men at Apple Junction, in the Amuwo Odofin area of Lagos, has been released by his abductors. Chief Izobo was freed yesterday and is currently recuperating in a hospital.

NIGERIAN POLICE: BRITISH HOSTAGE TAKEN IN #NIGERIA RELEASED





A police spokeswoman in Nigeria says a British man kidnapped from the country's largest city has been released.
Lagos state police spokeswoman Ngozi Braide told The Associated Press on Thursday that the man had been freed by his captors Tuesday. Braide said she did not know whether a ransom had been paid.
A spokesman for the British High Commission in Nigeria's capital, Abuja, confirmed the man had been released but offered no details.
Kidnappings of foreigners remain common in Nigeria, either for political reasons or for cash ransoms. However, such kidnappings rarely occur in Lagos, the commercial capital of Nigeria. The abduction came as Nigeria faces increasing insecurity with extremist attacks across its north.

Updates: Nkiru Sylvanus and Kenneth Okolie released by kidnappers




What a relief! And thanks for all your prayers. Actress Nkiru Sylvanus and ex-Mr Nigeria Kenneth Okolie have been freed by their kidnappers. Nkiru and Kenneth were released less than an hour ago in Owerri. The kidnappers blindfolded them and dropped them off at an unknown location where they were able to call friends to come pick them up. No details on whether they paid a ransom. Great news!

Man released from prison for killing daughter gets out and kills another daughter (PHOTO)





A man was arrested in 1995 for killing his own daughter. Daron Duane Davis spent 11 years in prison, got out and was recently arrested again for killing his second daughter. In this case, the man was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility for parole.  Sondaria Davis died before her first birthday after being beaten to death by her father. That’s when Davis was sentenced to 20 years in prison, serving 11 of them. His girlfriend, Sondraria’s mother, was also sentenced to probation for her role in the abuse. Davis was a free man after 2006, but obviously not reformed.

Man Responsible For Arik Bomb Scare Released From Custody



The man responsible for Arik Air bomb scare has been released from police custody. The man, identified as Aminu Galadima, is an interior decorator with a history of mental illness. Mr Galadima was released after investigators were satisfied that he had no intentions of blowing up the plane and also had no ties to any terrorist group.
