Expert Releases Time For Today’s Solar Eclipse Across Nigeria



The Director, Centre for Basic Space Science, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Prof. Fidelis Opara, has predicted the time the solar eclipse expected to occur today would be observed in different parts of the country.

A solar eclipse occurs when the moon moves between the earth and the sun, partially or completely blocking the rays of the sun from hitting the earth. Today’s eclipse is ecpected to be partial.

Nigerian court releases Russian naval sailors



The court in Nigeria, West Africa, has released from custody seven Russian naval sailors from the crew of the patrol ship Myre Seadiver, which was detained in October 2012 at the port of the city of Lagos by the authorities of that African country under the pretext of the transportation of allegedly incorrectly declared firearms, the Russian Embassy in Nigeria said on Tuesday.

India releases first home-built airplane Carrier




India launched its first indigenously built aircraft carrier from a shipyard Monday, marking its entry into a select group of countries in the world. The 37,500-ton INS Vikrant will go for extensive trials in 2016 before being deployed in 2018, Navy spokesman PV Satish said.
"It is essential that we retain and sharpen established designing capabilities, ship building technology, know-how and human resources to be able to produce quality and state-of-the-art warships in the years to come," Defence Minister AK Antony said at the launching in in the southern state of Kerala.

Winnie Mandela releases journal on prison life

JOHANNESBURG  (AFP) – Nelson Mandela’s ex-wife Winnie on Thursday released a book about her detention by the apartheid regime, a time she described as the darkest part of her life.
The book “491 Days: Prisoner number 1323/69″ is based on a journal Winnie Madikizela-Mandela kept in prison during her detention. “In my mind I felt that we needed to tell the story to the future generations, so that what happened there never happens again,” she said at the launch in Johannesburg.
In the book Winnie shares some of her journal entries as well as letters between her husband and herself.
“Solitary confinement is worst than hard labour,” she said.
“When you stretch your hands you touch the walls, you are reduced to a nobody.”

Kwankwaso Releases Names Of 25 Victims Of Suicide Bombings, Says Senators Discussing Nonsense In Abuja ( See The List)



Kano State Governor, Engr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, yesterday released  the names of some of the victims of last Tuesday’s suicide bombing  attack on a luxury bus terminal in Kano.  Apparently to refute that  most of the victims were from South Eastern part of Nigeria.
The  governor was speaking to a visiting federal government representatives who  had come to commiserate with the state government regarding the deadly  Monday suicide bombing of a bus station that killed at least 25 people.
Kwankwaso  had earlier replied Senators Kabiru Gaiya and Uche Chukwumerije, saying  they were “just ranting nonsense” in Abuja, and that they lacked first  hand knowledge of the attacks.

Family releases Esiri’s burial arrangements

FAMILY of late Nollywood actor, Chief Justus Esiri, yesterday, released details of burial arrangement for the Village Headmaster.  According to the spokesman of the Esiri family and ace photojournalist, Mr. George Esiri, the late actor will be buried in his hometown of Abraka in Delta State on Friday, April 12.  There will be service of songs for the late Esiri on April 9, followed by a commendation mass at St. Jude Catholic Church, Mafoluku, Lagos, on April 10.

Improvement As NECO Releases Nov/Dec Results. Check out those who Top Exams Malpractice List



The National Examination Council (NECO) on Wednesday released the November/December 2012 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) with Kano and Lagos states respectively topping the list of states with high incidence of exams malpractice
Giving a breakdown, Registrar of the council, Professor Promise Okpala told newsmen in Minna that 21, 274 cases of exams malpractice was recorded across the country with Kano having the highest incidences of malpractice with 649 candidates, representing 13.96 percent out of 4,646 while Lagos state came second with 238 cases out of 6, 508 candidates – this was in sharp contrast with the FCT which had the lowest incidence with only five cases out of 1,322 candidates that sat for the exams.
