Over 50% of Americans do not view Obama as strong and honest leader - poll

More than half of Americans do not believe US President Barack Obama to be a strong and honest leader. These are the results of a public opinion poll conducted in the first decade of June by the Gallup research center. 52 percent of respondents said that Obama's activity in general makes a bad impression on them. 47 percent of those who took part in the survey adhere to the opposite view.

At West Point Obama told us, to the applause of West Point cadets, that “American exceptionalism” is a doctrine that justifies whatever Washington does.  If Washington violates domestic and international law by torturing “detainees” or violates the Nuremberg standard by invading countries that have undertaken no hostile action against the US or its allies,  “exceptionalism” is the priest’s blessing that absolves Washington’s sins against law and international norms. A series of media polling institutions have asked Americans how they want the US to react on the Ukrainian crisis. It turned out that most Americans actually know very little about events on the ground - or even where the ground is geographically located. The researches found out that the farther the respondents' guesses were from Ukraine’s actual location, the more they wanted the US to intervene there using military force, the Washington Post reports.

Comedian Russell Brand has given one of his most candid interviews, where he admits why he's never voted and never will and called for a revolution to solve the world's problems which sent social media into a spin.

Brand sat down with the BBC’s “Newsnight” to discuss his temporary position as the guest editor of the New Statesman magazine. The conversation began with Jeremy Paxman, a journalist known for his combative and aggressive tone, pressing Brand on why the public should take his opinion seriously when considering the fact that Brand has never voted.

We Are Proud Americans! Not Nigerians, Williams Sisters Cry Out

The Williams sisters, Serena and Venus have declared that they are purely Americans, saying they have no origin from Nigeria as widely believed in Africa.


Serena, who joined her elder sister, Venus to train some selected kids the rudiments of tennis at the Ikoyi Club in Lagos Wednesday evening, said their parents may be black with slight traces from Africa, but she insisted that they are from the United States of America, USA.

“We have heard from many people asking whether we hail from the Badagry area of Lagos in Nigeria. But we are using this opportunity to clear the air once and for all. We are proud Americans, we are not from Nigeria but we love the people of this country no doubt,” Serena said.
