FG to rehabilitate surrendered Boko Haram members [Photo]



Days after over 160 Boko Haram members surrendered to the Nigerian Army, the Federal Government  said it will soon begin the process of rehabilitating and re-radicalising them.
According to The Nation,Coordinator of the National Information Centre Mr. Mike Omeri,told reporters 
"Efforts are ongoing to rehabilitate and re-radicalise the Boko Haram members, who have surrendered their arms in the last one week. Religious leaders, indigenes and the school system will be involved in the rehabilitation....(continue)....The Federal Government has a zero tolerance for terrorism. The armed forces will remain strong, undaunted and motivated in the performance of their duties.Nigerians are advised to support the fight, it will not last forever and I believe it will soon end.”

Nigeria Military Nabs 486 suspected Boko Haram members in Abia



According to a report by Guardian, not less than 486 suspected Boko Haram members including eight women were arrested by the military personnel of the 144 battalion of the Nigerian Army with base at Asa in Ukwa West council of Abia State. Full report below...
Abia State Information Commissioner, Chief Eze Chikamnayo, who took some reporters to the military camp yesterday to see the suspects said they were arrested around 3:00 a.m. on Sunday along Enugu-Aba-Port Harcourt Expressway at Arongwa area called Imo Gate, which is a boundary between Abia and Rivers states.

Pres. Jonathan Declares Amnesty For Boko Haram Members - Minister



 Before you read this, a source at the Nigerian Presidency has denied this story. But all the same, local media reports have quoted the Minister of Youth Development, Mr. Boni Haruna, on Thursday as saying that President Goodluck Jonathan has announced amnesty for members of the Boko Haram sect as parts of his administration’s youths-friendly programmes and policies.

Catholic priest goes gaga , Pulls Out Gun, Threatens To Shoot Church Members In Imo State.



. As you read this, a Catholic priest in Imo State is being investigated by the police after reports that he was illegally in possession of weapons.  The Reverend Father is said to be in charge of a parish in the Dikenafai environs of the Ideato South LGA of the state. He is said to have threatened members of his parish and endangered their lives with three unlicensed guns believed to be in his possession, without approval.

Just In: 6 Boko Haram Members Pilgrims Nabbed As They Return From Mecca



Security personnel have arrested three terror suspects at the Maiduguri International Airport. The suspected Boko Haram suspects were said to be returning to the country from Saudi Arabia where they had gone to on the holy pilgrimage.

“The suspected terrorists were among the first batch of pilgrims that returned to Borno from Saudi and  they were arrested by combined team of police, military personnel, immigration and men of the Department of Security services (DSS) at the airport as soon as they arrived, ” a police source in Maiduguri told this agency.

Disabled armed Robber & Gang Members Nabbed In Delta State




A 21-year-old disabled armed robbery suspect, John Okue, has been arrested by the Delta state police command in a hair saloon in Okwashi-Uku, following a tip off.
The disabled robber, who lost one leg to a virus, led the gang of other brutal robbers whose ages ranged from about 17 to 25 years.
Together, they were said to have robbed, killed and raped their female victims with impunity.

The gang was said to be highly connected to top police officers in the state. Consequently, when any member of the gang was arrested and detained, his freedom was often obtained.

Orji Offers ₦20 Million, Employment To Families Of Late PDP Members



The Abia State Governor, Theodore Orji, has given out N20 million as donation to the endowment fund established by the state chapter of the People’s Democratic Party in honor of the eight members who died in an auto crash during the Anambra State Gubernatorial Primaries in August.
The governor made the donation during the commendation service held at the Indoor Sport Hall of Umuahia Township Stadium, in honour of the late men.

Nigerian Army kills 50 Boko Haram members in Borno




Army authorities on Friday, claimed that at least 50 Boko Haram insurgents were killed in strong efforts to repel attacks on villagers by the sect in two communities in the northern and eastern parts of Borno on Thursday.

WASTE: ₦1tn spent on N’Assembly members in eight years – Ezekwesili



A former Minister of Education, Mrs Oby Ezekwesili,  on Monday said Nigeria had spent over  1tn on  the National Assembly members   in the last eight years.
Ezekwesili, in a keynote address she delivered during one-day dialogue session on the ‘Cost of governance in Nigeria, “ added that  banks earned N699bn as interests last year  on loans secured by the government.

 “Since 2005, the National Assembly members alone have been allocated N1tr,’’she said while also lamenting that “82 per cent of Nigeria’s budgetary cost goes for recurrent expenditure.”

Why We Exposed Boko Haram Members In Our Midst – Trailer Park Unions



Ileke new trailer garage, Ogun State, used to be a quiet park for heavy duty trailer trucks. That was until recently, when it was named as one of the areas where 42 suspected members of Boko Haram were apprehended in various parts of Lagos and Ogun states.
They were paraded last Monday by the 81 Division of the Nigerian Army in Lagos.
According to the Nigerian Army, the suspects fled from Borno State following a state of emergency declared by the Federal Government. The General Officer Commanding the 81 Division, Maj.- Gen. Obi Umahi, explained the raid was carried out following intelligence report that the sect planned to unleash terror on parts of the South-West.

HORRIBLE: 7 Family Members, 2 Others, Die In Sleep - Delta State



Seven family members including a retired Military Officer identified as Jacob (surname withheld), and two other persons, one of whom a boyfriend to the daughter of the military retiree were on Tuesday found dead in shocking circumstances in their bungalow in Ogbeiawse Quarters, Ime-Obi, Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State.

Reports said the ugly incident put fear in the community quarters which became deserted when the news of the mysterious death of the entire family members filtered out.

R.I.P: 5 NANS members die in fatal auto crash on their way to UNIUYO



The Senate President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Donald Onukaogu and four other students were killed in a tragic auto accident along the Umuahia - Ikot Ekpene federal road on their way to the University of Uyo, Akwa-Ibom State to intervene in the crisis that rocked the school yesterday. The bus they were traveling in collided with a trailer which was said to have lost control.  Donald was a student of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri. May their souls rest in peace. Amen.

Video: Boko Haram Members Steal Our Cars, Food and Marry Our Daughters - Villager Reveals




A member of Kirenowa community, a distant village in Borno State previously occupied by members of the extremist group, Boko Haram has said that the insurgents plundered and destroyed their communities. Speaking in a exclusive interview with Channels Television's correspondent, who visited the village in the organization of the military Special Force, Nneota Egbe, the villager said the insurgents forcefully collect the crops harvested by members of the community. "They collected our cars and even our food. Those farming were forced to harvest their millet and maize and they (the terrorists) took them (the food stuff) to their camps," he said. He said the terrorists be aware of ladies that are about 18 years and forcefully marry them.

The Commander of Combat Team 1 that dislodged suspected members of the extremist sect, Boko Haram from their camp in Kirenowa Village, Lt. Col Danladi Hassan has explained the factors the militants considered before building their camps.Speaking to reporters after capturing a terrorist den in Kirenowa village, the Commander said the insurgents often site their camps in areas with thick vegetation so that they are shielded from military aerial scouts.

SAD: Babcock Student loses 8 family members in car accident on their way to her graduation



One of Babcock's best graduating student, Margaret Okwuikpo, lost eight members of her family in a horrific auto accident on Friday May 31st in Port Harcourt. Margaret's father, grandmother, sisters, brothers and a cousin were on their way to her graduation ceremony, which was to take place on Sunday June 2nd, when the commercial bus they were traveling in crashed. Margaret's mum, brother-in-law and two other people survived the accident and are being treated in the hospital.

President Jonathan approves order proscribing Boko Haram and Ansaru members; supporters, collaborators now face prosecution under terrorism prevention act.
President Goodluck Jonathan has formally approved the proscription of Boko Haram and authorized the gazetting of an order declaring the group’s activities illegal and acts of terrorism.
The order which has been gazetted as the Terrorism (Prevention) (Proscription Order) Notice 2013 affects both Boko Haram (Jamaatu Ahlis-Sunna Liddaawati Wal Jihad) and another group – Jama’atu Ansarul  Muslimina Fi Biladis Sudan, was approved by President Jonathan pursuant  to section 2 0f the Terrorism Prevention Act, 2011 (As Amended).
