Where Is The Grant Given Earlier This Year To Nollywood



Once we heard that the Federal Government of Nigeria light emitting diode by Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has awarded yet another N150m to Nollywood, we asked ourselves, is this the first time Nollywood  is obtaining such? But the answer is No, we are able to recall clearly effectively on the 3rd of March, this year, leader Goodluck Jonathan arranged a meal at Marina in Lagos to observe Nollywood at 20th, On that occasion, he declared a N3billion grants aimed at promoting the nation's foremost movie industry, Nollywood.

After 2 , Another Death Record in Nollywood, Actress Dies



The yoruba movie industry is bereaved yet again as one of its actresses, Falilat Okerede Oketayo has reportedly passed away.
This is coming soon after they lost two other people. First it was the death of a 32-year-old Jane Atayero-Oluseye, followed closely by that of veteran actor, Pa Ola Ogungbe and now this one.
Falilat who is a person in the Association of Theatre Arts Practitioner of Nigeria, ANTP, in Ogun State reportedly died on Tuesday at her residence in Sagamu, Ogun State.
According to report, she died following a brief illness. She's survived by two children, an aged father and siblings. She was described by ANTP in Ogun State as a versatile, energetic and confident actress.

Aged Veteran actor in the Yoruba sector of Nollywood is dead. - R.I.P



The aged actor died last night at an clinic in Abeokuta following suffering from a brief illness. The deceased was a member of Association of Nigerian Theater Arts Practitioners (ANTP), Abeokuta, Ogun state chapter, till his death, he's the daddy of prime actor, Segun Ogungbe. It could be recall he was reported dead a year ago Saturday, November 28, 2012, sequel to the mistake people made to announce him dead as opposed to his elder brother, yet another experienced movie story, Pa Akin Ogungbe who died at 78

Nollywood Stars plan to Campaign For President Jonathan’s Reelection In 2015



Pro-government rallies, reminiscent of the Abacha era, are on their way back in the country. This time, they will be at the instance of Nollywood stars whose delegation met yesterday in Abuja with the National Chairman of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) ,Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, to work out the modalities.

The project is planned to include ‘peace’ rallies and concerts in the six geo-political zones, according to leader of the delegation, Emeka Ike.

R.I.P: Nollywood Actor Kicked The Bucket After Brief Illness



Nollywood actor, Ray Daniels Okeugo died on October 25, 2013, Friday, after having a brief illness. It has been reported by 24/7 Nigeria News Update. The type of the sickness that took the actor away wasn't made known to us as at press time.

Ray Daniels Okeugo starred a number of soap operas and home videos before taking into photography.
Late Okeugo was a founding member of the Invisible Borders Trans-African Photographers and was strongly involved  in the organisation's activities.

Nollywood actress sues AIT for ₦5m over movie




 

 Nollywood actress and producer, Queen Temitope Oluwa has has instituted a legal suit against Raymond Dokpesi owned Africa Independent Television, AIT, within the airing of one of her flicks, Atupa Emi.
The Saratu star filed a legal case with the aid of her attorney, M.A Bashua & Co. suing the television company to the tune of N5million.
When contacted, Queen said,


I don't have much to talk about but I've instituted a legal case against AIT over an infringement on my rights as a resident and as the copyright owner of Atupa Emi, that is illegally been aired on the medium.”  In a letter served the management of AIT, Queen is demanding the whopping amount of money as a fee for breaching of her intellectual property rights to the flick, Atupa Emi.

Nollywood Actor Osita Iheme gets Another Honour



Nollywood actor Osita Iheme, popularly referred to as Paw-Paw was honoured as a ‘New generation ambassador'by Rotary International. This increases the many awards the actor has received, like the 2011 conferment of the Person in the Federal Republic (MFR) award by President Goodluck Jonathan.
The 30-year-old actor was honoured at a Rotary International event that was held at the National Theatre, Lagos.

Just in: Nollywood Star Shot Dead in Benin



Nollywood star, Flavian Okojie, has been shot dead in Benin, the Edo State capital. Okojie, who just got married NTA presenter Omo-kivie Adeola three weeks ago had many fans all over Nigeria.  His widow in her distress posted a facebook update  indictating her despair.

Again: Nollywood Actor Dies

One of many personalities in Nollywood, King Murphy has equally died few weeks after the death of area manager, Chinedu Dabebe. According to data, the explanation for Prince's death remains unclear but resources said he died after a brief disease two days ago. King Murphy was a comic actor during his entire life and was liked by some of his fans.

Photos: Asaba based Nollywood location manager allegedly killed by Chinese slimming tea




Asaba based Nollywood location manager Chinedu Epeagba (pictured above) died last week after a brief illness. Chinedu may have died from drinking too much Chinese slimming tea, if that possible.

According to Nollywood comic actor, Ugezu J. Ugezu, who posted on his Facebook page, a doctor who treated Chinedu said his death was as a result of complications triggered by slimming tea

Nollywood Actor Markets Nigeria To The World




Deji Adenuga, remember him? He’s the suave A-list actor and husband of delectable broadcaster, Yemi Adenuga. For many years, he straddled both the stage and the screen, bringing immense delight to many homes through his acting.
Then, with neither a warning nor a farewell, Adenuga disappeared, simply vanishing from the cinemas and the home videos. His fans were left with nothing but the old films he had been involved in before his sudden departure, even as they wondered what actually happened to their beloved entertainer.
“Well, I relocated, like people would say, to join my family in Ireland. That was in 2006,” the actor told the reporter recently at a chance meeting in Lagos on his way back to Dublin.

Just In: Nollywood Actor, Tony Umole Dies



The Nigerian movie industry has yet again been thrown into mourning with the death of Tony Umole. The actor who is popular as “Daddy”, a character he interpreted well in One Love, a TV serial drama.  His demise was confirmed by Taju Adepetu, the Executive Producer of One Love.

Umole acted in Abuja Connection back in 2003 with the likes of Eucharia Anumobi and Enebeli Elebuwa. He has since featured in many movies after that. He was also known to be a great script writer

Another Nollywood Actor Hit With Stroke, Needs N6m To Walk Again



The veteran actor, producer, filmmaker and architect of the distribution framework of the NFVCB, Yinka Ogundaisi is bedridden.
It was gathered that he has been on admission at the LUTH for spine injuries for over two months now. 

Some of his close friends told us that, it might be partial stroke that has hit him due to his emaciated state. 
A source said, “Uncle Yinka needs about 6million to undergo urgent treatment in India or the UK or else he will not walk again. We need to help this practitioner 'with ideas' get his groove back. No amount of assistance will be too small.”

Nollywood honours Esiri with wake, no-work-day



As the remains of the veteran Nollywood actor, Justus Esiri, make the final journey on Friday, the Actors’ Guild of Nigeria, AGN, said it would honour him with a wake keep this evening.
Its National Secretary General, Mr. Yakubu Mohammed, who disclosed this in a telephone interview, said the AGN would be hosting the wake in conjunction with the rest of the guilds in Nollywood.
He said: “Not only that, a no-work-day will be declared on the day he will be buried on Friday, April 12. What that means is that no production will take place in Nollywood on that day.”

Nollywood At 20: Pres. Jonathan hosts presidential dinner to Celebrate



It was so hush hush I almost missed it..lol...but was able to get some info to share. Nollywood stars met with President Jonathan yesterday Saturday March 2nd at the State House in Marina, Lagos. The president hosted a presidential dinner to celebrate Nollywood at 20. First Lady Patience Jonathan, Abia, Akwa Ibom, Anambra State governors and lots of important people were at the dinner. (Above are actors Chidi Mokeme and Chika Ike at the dinner).

Nollywood Actor, Richard Mofe Damijo Embezzled 50 Million Naira - EFCC



Philo Nkem Ajufo, the acting General Manager of Delta State Tourism Board, has been detained by the EFCC in Abuja over her role in a financial scheme. Ms. Ajufo is reportedly being quizzed for conniving with her boss, Richard Mofe Damijo (RMD), to embezzle N50 million from the state Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
Mr. Mofe Damijo, a well known Nollywood star, is the commissioner in charge of the ministry. Our EFCC said the commissioner was also being sought by the anti-corruption agency, but he has been elusive.
An EFCC source confirmed Ms. Ajufo’s arrest. “As we talk, the Delta State Tourism GM, one Mrs. Nkem Ajufo, is been held in our headquarters here in Abuja over her involvement in the N50 million fraud. Her boss, Mr. Richard Mofe Damijo, is not left out but as we speak he is still avoiding us,” said the source.

Death in Nollywood: Agwu, Others Prepare For Prayer



If there is one reality that is both humbling and frightening in the entertainment industry in Nigeria, it is the spate of untimely deaths in Nollywood. 
This and many other misfortunes that have befallen practitioners in recent times formed the subject of deliberation at a recent meeting of top actresses, comedians and musicians, convened at the Silverbird Galleria, Victoria Island, to discuss an upcoming occasion where all the big names in the industry would meet and pray for the industry.
At the meeting, which was called at the behest of Paul Emmanuel of Cornerstone Ministries, Victoria Island, Nollywood actresses and audience including Monalisa Chinda, Aisha Abimbola, Desmond Elliot, musicians Innocent Idibia, Patricia King of Midnight Crew and top comedians, Julius Agwu and Ayo Makun, also known as AY discussed the rationale for hosting an all star event tagged 'Shift Celebrity Prayse'.
