SAD: Another ‘Yoruba’ Movie Actress Dies



Among the prominent faces of Yoruba genre of Nollywood, Janet Atayero-Oluseye who got married last year to Olalekan Oluseye has passed away.   She died at age 32 on Wednesday 23th of October, 2013. The member of Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioner (ANTP), Ibadan chapter was with the Ojopagogo movie caucus in Ibadan until her death. She was said to possess complained of pains on her foot and couldn't walk with it for months and subsequently her health deteriorated although she was treated in a medical facility and some spiritual measures were taken to greatly help her out, she however died and was buried in Lagos, exactly the same day she died.

Nollywood actress sues AIT for ₦5m over movie




 

 Nollywood actress and producer, Queen Temitope Oluwa has has instituted a legal suit against Raymond Dokpesi owned Africa Independent Television, AIT, within the airing of one of her flicks, Atupa Emi.
The Saratu star filed a legal case with the aid of her attorney, M.A Bashua & Co. suing the television company to the tune of N5million.
When contacted, Queen said,


I don't have much to talk about but I've instituted a legal case against AIT over an infringement on my rights as a resident and as the copyright owner of Atupa Emi, that is illegally been aired on the medium.”  In a letter served the management of AIT, Queen is demanding the whopping amount of money as a fee for breaching of her intellectual property rights to the flick, Atupa Emi.

#GoodPeopleThings: Actress Yvonne Jegede and movie producer Chinny Love give back to the needy family




 A woman approached actress Yvonne Jegede on her way to have groceries in Ajao Estate recently, saying how she is really a big fan of her movies. The lady later cried and pleaded for assistance; she said she and her children had been residing in a church, and barely had food to eat. Yvonne followed her to where her children were and after seeing their condition decided to simply help her. A week later Yvonne and her friend movie producer Chinneylove payed them a trip and gave them food stuff. They also gave them money to rent a place to stay. See more photos following the break.

Crane operator electrocuted to death on set of Elvis Chuk's movie ( R.I.P)




 29 year old crane operator Moses Okwudili (pictured in black operating the crane) died yesterday evening Monday June 3rd on the set of Elvis Chuks movie, Hustlers, after the crane he was operating made contact with high tension wires. Witnesses said Moses pushed the crane too far up, and was looking at the monitor when the crane made contact with a naked wire. He was electrocuted on the spot. The incident happened a few minutes after these photos were taken.

People around him gave him CPR before rushing him to a nearby hospital where he died. The movie director, Elvis Chuks, was standing right beside him checking out monitors when the sad incident occurred. They were shooting a scene with Nse Ikpe Etim Clifford when Moses was electrocuted.

The movie shoot has been suspended temporarily as they mourn Moses' passing. RIP, Moses.

Apart from their penchant for such status symbols, today’s Nollywood actors and actresses are also seen as role models, especially to the young and impressionable who dream of becoming stars some day. But, judging by the results of a recent investigation conducted by Saturday Beats, it appears all that glitters is not gold, after all.

Movie marketers wage war against pirates in Onitsha





The Film,Video, Producers and Marketers Association of Nigeria(FVPMAN) has declared war against pirates in Onitsha, Anambra State.
The marketers have vowed never to rest until they stamp out the menace of piracy in the commercial city.
Confirming this development when contacted by  HVP, the Chairman of the Onitsha branch of FVPMAN, Mr Godson Nwosu said, following the alarming rate at which its members are being forced out of business, no thanks to the illegal activities of the pirates, they are left with  no choice than to clampdown on the enemies of their businesses.
