Ogun: Amosun, Daniel clash over ex-gov’s state of origin





The Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun and his immediate predecessor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel on Wednesday traded words over the latter’s state of origin.
The governor, who was on a working tour to Odeda Local Government Area of the state had said while addressing the crowd of party supporters that Daniel was not a native of Ogun State. He claimed the ex-governor was a Nigerian of Isoko extraction in Delta State.

Cambodian Police arrest nine over organ trafficking




Chuon Sovan, Cambodian Police Chief, said on Monday in Phnom Penh, that nine hospital workers were arrested on suspicion of running an organ-trafficking ring. He said both the director and deputy director of the military Preah Ket Mealea Hospital in Phnom Penh were arrested, along with a Chinese doctor and several people described as Chinese-Vietnamese nationals.

Pentagon moves three strategic bomber aircraft over to Europe



The US has relocated three Boeings B-52 bombers to Britain. The bombers are not equipped with any type of weaponry, ITAR-TASS says, citing the press service of the US Strategic Command.

The bombers will be stationed at the Royal Air Force Fairford(RAF Fairford) in Gloucestershire for two weeks. During this period of time, the bombers will perform training flights in compliance with the US European Command in regards to strategic responsibility. The bomber's crewwill also get acquainted with military bases in the regions and military operations, they are to perform.

EFCC arraigns House of Rep member over dud cheques worth ₦125m



A member of Nigeria's House of Representative, Hon Aliyu Gebi representing Bauchi Federal Constituency was today arraigned before a Federal High Court in Abuja on a 13-count charge of issuing dud cheques worth over 125 million Naira to one Usman Mustapha, Sahara Reporters reports.


According to papers filed by the EFCC, one of the charges against Gebi read "That you, Hon. Aliyu Gebi, being the owner and sole signatory of Craft Technology Ltd and Craft Technology Ltd on or about the 12/01/2012 at Abuja Judicial Division of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory did obtain credit by issuing a UBA Plc cheque No. 00091852 in the sum of N10,000.000.00 (Ten Million naira) only in favour of Musty Petroleum Ltd. which when presented within three months was dishonored on the ground that there was insufficient fund in the account and thereby committed an offense punishable under section 1 (b) (I)  of the dishonored cheque ( offences) Act, 2004 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria.”

BOKO HARAM: Nine Generals under Probe over arms deal





Nine serving Generals in the Nigerian Army and other senior military officers are now under investigation for their alleged role in the sale of arms to members of the Boko Haram sect.
They are also fingered in the movement of weapons and Army armouries in some northern states.
A top security chief confirmed to Nigerian Pilot yesterday that the military authorities had made progress in the investigation of the affected Army officers, adding that they would soon be court-martialed.

200 killed in Zamfara massacre over the weekend



Cattle rustler this past weekend killed over 200 people who were attending a security meeting in Yargaladinma area of Dansadau community in Maru LGA of Zamfara state. The men said to have come in over a hundred motorbikes carrying guns and machetes, surrounded the building where the security meeting was holding and opened fire on them, killing over 100 on the spot. Some escaped, some died the next day while others were gravely injured.
The Emir of the Dansadau, Alhaji Husaini Adamu, while expressing his sadness over the attack said “This is not the first time the people of the area would be facing such problem but this attack was the worst of its kind in the history of killings in this area.”.

ASUU Strike: Rejecting ₦ 220 Billion Over Five Years to End Strike Will Have Grave Consequences.




After getting an annual payment offer of N220 billion for the next five years, from the federal government, following a marathon meeting that ended Tuesday, indications have emerged that the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) may lose the sympathy of several and might make the  government wield the big stick if it rejects the recent offer by the government, with the full blown implementation of the ‘no work, no pay'policy likely to break the ranks of the union and cause disaffection on the list of members who'd have the pinch of the salaries being withheld.

Nigerian Police: Now Armed Wing of PDP
The Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) hereby registers its dismay that for the second weekend in a row, officers of the Nigeria Police illegally stormed and disrupted a meeting by seven governors and other Nigerians going about their constitutionally guaranteed rights of association.

The police action is not only alarming but also demonstrates clearly that the force, instead of carrying out its constitutional responsibilities of maintaining peace and order in the society has become no more than the armed wing of the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

EFCC Arraigns Teen(Keyboard Master) For Duping American Of $40million Over The Internet





Suspected Internet fraudster, Tobechukwu Igbokwe, and his accomplice, Ifeanyi Obi have now been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for allegedly defrauding U.S of $40 million.

19-year-old Igbokwe and Obi have now been held at the Kirikiri prisons since they certainly were caught after an event went burst.  Nigerian Eye reports that the American victim, Michael Silva had wired the full total sum of $40 million to the boys in Nigerian believing them once they told him that they'd a massive inheritance that they wanted to go on to a foreign account for safekeeping.

 The house of Representatives committee on Aviation, will today conclude hearing on the buying of two armoured cars for the aviation minister, Stella Oduah, for N255 million. The hearing was adjourned from yesteday, Wednesday, to permit the aviation minister to attend. The minister was expected at the Wednesday hearing but was missing since she was away in Israel for a bilateral air support deal signing. The spotlight of today's hearing will be the minister's appearance. Her absence at the hearing recently angered many lawmakers who said it would be her last chance to be heard.

6 Naval Officers Pounce on a civilian Teacher, beat to Stupor in Ogun over Irrelevant Argument.



A terrible accident happened at the Nigerian Navy Secondary School, Onikoko, Adigbe area of Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital in the early hours of October 30, 2013, Wednesday, when six naval rating officers pounced on one of the civilian teachers in the school and beat him to stupor over a minor argument between them.

32-yr-old Man Butchers Uncle Over Destiny Manipulation



ABAKALIKI— A man identified as Chinweoru Ugbo, 32, was weekend arrested by the Onueke Divisional Police Command, Ebonyi State for allegedly butchering his uncle, Mr. Ogbuleji Nwite, 78, with an axe.

The crime was allegedly committed at Nsokkara Community in Ezza South Local Government Area of the state over claims that the deceased was diabolically manipulating Ugbo’s destiny.

US Senator Pleads for Peace Meeting with Nigerians over Controversial ‘419’ Joke.



US Senator Ted Cruz has asked for a peace meeting with Nigerian-Americans who have demanded that he retracts his controversial  joke last week which many of them considered insulting. In a letter from the Senator to leaders of the Nigerian community in Houston, Texas, where the controversial
comments were made, the Senator said he “regrets any misunderstanding.”

Nollywood actress sues AIT for ₦5m over movie




 

 Nollywood actress and producer, Queen Temitope Oluwa has has instituted a legal suit against Raymond Dokpesi owned Africa Independent Television, AIT, within the airing of one of her flicks, Atupa Emi.
The Saratu star filed a legal case with the aid of her attorney, M.A Bashua & Co. suing the television company to the tune of N5million.
When contacted, Queen said,


I don't have much to talk about but I've instituted a legal case against AIT over an infringement on my rights as a resident and as the copyright owner of Atupa Emi, that is illegally been aired on the medium.”  In a letter served the management of AIT, Queen is demanding the whopping amount of money as a fee for breaching of her intellectual property rights to the flick, Atupa Emi.

Scandal: Usain Bolt facing Olympic Ban Over Drug Scandal





Jamaica's athletes, including sprint star Usain Bolt, might be banned from major events like the Olympics due to the county's handling of recent drug scandals, based on Tuesday's Daily Telegraph.

World Anti-Doping Agency president John Fahey, in an interview with the paper, accused Jamaica of "farcical" behaviour in its attempts to defer an extraordinary audit of its anti-doping programme until next year.

'ASUU Strike Will Be Over ‘In A Few Months’, Says Federal Government.




Nigerian students were yesterday assured by the Federal Government that the protracted strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, would be over in a few months.

Minister of Education, Mr Nyesom Wike stated this at the anniversary lecture of National Universities Commission, NUC, in Abuja.

Policeman Tortures, Brutalises His 8-year-old Child over alleged Witchcraft



A police sergeant from Ibiaku community, Mkpat Enin Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Ita Ayamba, has allegedly brutalised and abandoned his eight-year-old daughter, Goodness Ayamba over her refusal to confess to witchcraft.

Punch reports that Ita had paraded his little girl along the village streets unclad, declaring that Goodness was responsible for his retrogression in the Police Force.
He tortured his daughter for several hours in an attempt to extract a confession of being a witch from
her.

Abu Dokpesi Nabbed Over Fraud



Abu Dokpesi, the look-alike younger brother of Daar Communication chairman, Dr. Raymond Dokpesi who is the man behind AFEMAI Line Transport Ltd, is in the storm. Few weeks back the businessman was arrested and detained at the Abuja Police Divisional Headquarters, opposite the Central Bank of Nigeria former head office. He was allegedly arrested in reaction to a petition in which the transport magnate, Dokpesi was alleged of stealing and selling 
federal government SURE P/FGN mass transport vehicles.

HEARTLESS: Person Eliminates Wife Over Money, Grinds Her In to 7 Parts



Police in India on Wednesday arrested 41-year-old Sudhir Maskare for allegedly murdering wife Deepti, 30, and disposing of her chopped body parts into Wainganga River, Hudkeshwar.
Sudhir, who had a love marriage in 2003, cut Deepti's body into seven pieces after killing her at their Mahalaxmi Nagar home in Manewada on September 11. After disposing of her body, Sudhir lodged a missing complaint with the police.
