Governor Suntai’s aides return to Nigeria after treatment in Germany





The Chief Security Officer and the Chief Details of Governor Danbaba Suntai of Taraba state have arrived Nigeria after successfully undergoing medical treatment in Germany following the October 25th plane crash. Governor Suntai and three of his aids sustained serious injuries in the plane crash and had to be flown abroad for urgent medical attention.  Governor Suntai and his ADC are still in a German hospital according to the Taraba state commissioner of Information, but says they recovering well and hopes they will be discharged in no distant time

A pregnant woman and seven other persons have been confirmed dead in a road crash in Delta State. The accident occurred on the Asaba-Ibuzor Road on Thursday. The pregnant woman and the others were said to be traveling in a 14-seater Toyota Hiace Bus, which rammed into a tipper. Though details were sketchy as at press time, the Federal Road Safety Commission confirmed the incident.

Robbers Kill Chinese Shoot Wife In The Head In Lagos State





Gunmen shot and killed a Chinese businessman at Ogudu area of Lagos on Wednesday night, Nigerian Police spokesperson said. Two other Chinese women sustained head and leg injuries during the incident, said Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide. Police said four Chinese in a car were coming from a function at Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, southwest Nigeria,when a red car followed and overtook them as they were about entering Chinatown at Ogudu.

A teenage girl was beheaded by a relative in northern Afghanistan after she turned down his marriage proposals, according to reports. The victim, named as Gisa, was decapitated with a knife in the Imam Sahib district of Kunduz province on Tuesday, local police said. She is believed to be around 15-years-old.
A police spokesman said two men, named as Sadeq and Massoud, had been arrested following the teenage girl’s murder.

The Seme Border Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has arrested a 28-year old Ghanaian auto dealer for allegedly concealing wraps of powdery substances that tested positive for cocaine in his inner wear, the agency said on Thursday. The suspect, Ali Aminu, was arrested with a Ghanaian international passport number H2252580, said Mitchell Ofoyeju, NDLEA Head of Public Affairs. Aminu is alleged to have imported 1.3 kilogrammes of cocaine from Dubai. “He was caught during routine search of passengers at Gbaji security post along Lagos Seme express way,” NDLEA said.

GOVERNOR of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, has asked the Federal Government to downsize the labour force if it must achieve anything meaningful as far as economic resuscitation is concerned in the country.

Sanusi, who also insisted on total fuel subsidy removal, took a swipe at the Nigerian political system, asking for an inexpensive government system that will bring down overhead cost and liberate capital for infrastructural development. These calls were made during his presentation at the second Annual Capital Market Committee retreat that was held on Tuesday, in Warri, Delta State. To Sanusi, it is illogical for a country to have its economy developed when it spends 70 per cent of its revenue  in servicing salaries and gratuities of workers.

The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended Ibrahim Balogun, a 25-year-old man accused of perpetrating a series of murders in Somolu, Bariga and Fadeyi in the state. PUNCH Metro had reported on June 25, 2012, that Balogun also known as Small Jpron, was declared wanted following a gang-related violence between Shaggy Boys and Downtown Boys which left at least five people dead in Ilaje, Bariga.

Terry G is wanted by the Nigerian police for a hit and run that occurred on Friday November 23rd.
According to police reports, Terry G hit the victim, Moshood Azeez, with his car while leaving Club Royale located on Oba Akran Rd Ikeja.
Moshood, whose leg was crushed in the accident, was rushed to General Hospital Ikeja where he is still receiving treatment. Terry G was said to have fled the scene of the accident now making it a police case.
Police at Wemabod Estate, Ikeja invited the Akpako master for questioning but he didn't respond to the invitation. Corporal Linus Reuben who is in charge of the case said Terry G has left the country for the UK. He said they plan to go after him once he returns.

Nigerian Nurse On Trial Over The Death Of Baby Who Bled To Death




A 66 year-old Nigerian nurse, Grace Adeleye, is currently on trial for the death of a four-week-old baby boy who bled to death after a home circumcision. Goodluck Caubergs was only 27 days old when he died after bleeding to death for several hours the day after Adeleye carried out the procedure.

Goodluck was born on March 22, 2010, in Rochdale and died on April 17, 2010. His parents, also from Nigeria, were introduced to Adeleye by a friend as she had performed many circumcisions over the years and offered her ‘experience and skill’.

Around 5pm on April 16, Goodluck’s father, Olajunti Fatunla, brought Adeleye by car to the family home — and the nurse sent him immediately to get some Calpol while she and the mother, Sylvia Attiko, got on with the op.

Once inside, Adeleye told the boy’s mother to fetch some olive oil and a bowl of warm water and the child was stripped to just his vest. Adeleye then brought her ‘instruments’ out of her handbag and dipped a pair of scissors into the water in a kidney dish.

24 year old Nigerian/American woman, Jessica Tata, was sentenced to 80 years in prison on Monday November 20th after being found guilty of the death of one of four children killed in a fire at her home day care in Houston.

16-month-old Elias Castillo and three other toddlers died after Tata left them unsupervised at her home while she went to a nearby store. Prosecutors say she left a pan of oil cooking atop a stovetop burner and that this ignited the February 2011 blaze. There were 7 children when the fire started, four died, three survived.
