War on Terror: Boko Haram ambushes soldiers in Kogi





About 850 soldiers shortlisted for a counter-terrorism course at the Nigerian Army Training Centre in Kontagora, Niger State narrowly escaped death when they were ambushed by suspected members of the outlawed Boko Haram islamist sect.

 Four of them were however seriously injured in the incident which took place at a location between Okene and Lokoja, Kogi State on Sunday night. A security source said on Monday that the soldiers were men of the 322 Artillery Battalion, and the Fourth Brigade Garrison, Ekeunwa, Benin in Edo State. The PUNCH learnt that the 850 soldiers were expected to give fillip to the ongoing counter-terrorism operation in Borno and Adamawa states on completion of the counter- insurgency course.

There are reports that Kogi state Governor Idris Wada is said to be fast emerging the most controversial in the area of women affairs.  Sources from the state house are whispering that the governor has  allegedly put two women an actress, Linda Black and his Personal Assistant, Halima Ibrahim, in the family way.  The Kogi State house is said to be seriously boiling as his two wives who are yet to settle their squabbles over who should be the first lady.  The first wife and His Excellency had reasons to raise their voices just days before the Governor left Lokoja for Abuja a while back accusing him of sexual recklessness and giving her sexually transmitted disease(Syphilis).

Federal road in Kogi becomes Paradise for robbers, rapists ....




Abu Micheal, Chief Press Secretary to Kogi State deputy governor, looks at the hardship faced by people and commuters who ply Lokoja- Kabba-  egbe – Ilorin Road and stated the need for the Federal Government’s timely intervention to end the suffering of the people.
Bad roads are responsible for most of the accidents that happen on our roads. At the same time, bad roads hasten the process of tear and wear of various cars and impoverish the owners. Also, pothole infested roads are increasingly becoming the operational zones of criminals particularly, armed robbers.
This is true of the Obajana-Oshokoshoko-Kabba-Mopa-Isanlu-Egbe Road. This is a federal road that links most parts of the West Senatorial District to the rest part of Kogi State. It is also the fastest link between Kwara and Kogi states. The road is now in a deplorable state and it has also become a safe haven for armed bandits who now subject motorists plying the route to harrowing experiences.

Mother And Newborn Baby Killed By Kogi Governor's Ambulance



A nursing mother with a baby strapped in her back was knocked down by an ambulance attached to the Kogi State Government House on Sunday. National Mirror learnt that the victim was on a commercial motorcycle when the ambulance hit \ them from the rear. She died on the spot, while the three-month-old baby in her back miraculously survived the crash.
Eye witnesses said the woman was returning from the church when the incident occurred.

Reps intervene in Kogi-Anambra oil well dispute



The House of Representatives yesterday directed its committees on Special Duties and Disaster and Emergency Management to liaise with the National Boundary Commission, NBC, on the lingering clashes between Enugu-Otu, Nkpunado and Eziagulu-Otu communities of Aguleri in Anambra East Local Government of the state and Olu communities of Ibaji Local Government of Kogi State, over the oil rich land.
The decision of the House to give the committees the mandate, arose from a motion sponsored by Hon. Chriscato Amaeke (PDPAnambra), seeking the intervention of the House.

3 Students Killed By Drunk Lecturer In Kogi



A Kogi State Polytechnic lecturer who was alleged to have driven under the influence of alcohol on Monday, had reported crushed three student of the school to death.
The lecturer who according to eye witnesses was on high speed knocked down one Miss Taiwo Edilola Omolola, a HND 1 student as she was about to board a commercial motorcycle from the campus and two others waiting to board a cab.
According to the eye witness, the slain student got stock under the lecturer’s car wheel as he dragged her along the expressway.

Female Teachers Banned From Wearing Trousers in Kogi State



Kogi State government has banned female teachers in the public primary and secondary schools from wearing trousers during school hours. The state Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Grace Elebiyo during a press briefing on Wednesday warned that any female teacher caught violating the order will face disciplinary action.
Elebiyo said this new order came after some female teachers in the state were caught violating their professional code of dressing.
She asserted that Kogi State Ministry of Education would no longer tolerate indecent dressing to schools.

Shocking! Father Kills 4-Month Old Son for Ritual in Kogi state (Video)

The police command in Kogi state have arrested a middle aged man, Mr Hosea Folorunsho in Egbe town of Yagba West local government council for the alleged gruesome murder of his son for ritual purpose. Briefing journalists on the arrest in Lokoja, the Kogi state capital, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Mohammed Katsina says the suspect, a herbalist, also buried the child in a shallow grave in his own compound.

Repair Our Roads: Governor Idris Wada Of Kogi State Involved In Ghastly Motor Acc




Kogi state Governor, Idris Wada, has been seriously injured in an autocrash today. Unconfirmed reports said Wada may be in coma at the SMC where he  was rushed to.
The accident reportedly occurred after the governor and his convoy were returning from an official assignment.The accident occurred close  to Lokoja. Reports also said the governor’s Aide-de-Camp,ADC died instantly at the scene of the accident.  A driver to was believed  to have been killed on the spot as well.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has accused the presiding judge of the Federal High Court sitting in Lokoja, Kogi State, Justice I. E. Ekwo, of condoning the antics of two suspects with the aim of delaying their prosecution on charges of money laundering and criminal misappropriation of N800million in public funds.

Joseph Benjamin, Dare Art Alade, Present Relief Materials To Flood Victims InKogi




Stirred by the recent Kogi flood disaster, Joseph Benjamin pioneered a team to deliver relief materials to the state. The “Help Kogi” project was initiated to provide material support to the victims of the flood in Kogi. Last week, the team - made up of Joseph, Darey, Jaywon, Malik, Cordelia Okpei, and MoEazy - was at Kogi State to present the relief materials. They were welcomed by Governor Idris Wada and his deputy, Yomi Awoniyi.
