‘Federal, State Governments In N9tn Debt’
Nigeria’s total public debt rose from N6.25tn ($40.1bn) in 2010 to N9.04tn ($58.04bn) by the end of December 2012, according to the Debt Management Office.
In its 2013 Report of the Annual National Debt Sustainability Analysis, released in Abuja on Sunday, the DMO said it would issue $100m Diaspora bond in 2014.

#LagosPlaneCrash: Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) Releases The Names Of Survivors & Dead Persons
An Associated Airline jet was carrying seven crew and 20 passengers heading to Akure, Ondo state for the burial of former Ondo State governor, Olusegun Agagu, who passed away September 13, 2013.
Agagu’s family members and Ondo state officials were in the plane. Two of Agagu’s children, a son and a daughter, did not survive. However, ex-governor’s wife was not in the plane crash; she and Agagu’s brother, Femi, arrived Akure earlier in a separate flight.

Lagos State Almost Self-Sufficient In Power Generation – Fashola
Lagos State Government has said its energy reform initiatives are yielding positive result with the state close to being self-sufficient in its power needs.
To this end, it said a number of public institutions was being moved out of the national grid and connected to the power being generated from the power plants built by the state government.

Disabled armed Robber & Gang Members Nabbed In Delta State
A 21-year-old disabled armed robbery suspect, John Okue, has been arrested by the Delta state police command in a hair saloon in Okwashi-Uku, following a tip off.
The disabled robber, who lost one leg to a virus, led the gang of other brutal robbers whose ages ranged from about 17 to 25 years.
Together, they were said to have robbed, killed and raped their female victims with impunity.
The gang was said to be highly connected to top police officers in the state. Consequently, when any member of the gang was arrested and detained, his freedom was often obtained.

The Governor said Mr Peter is a very diligent man who deserves to be honoured. According to him, Mr Peter who is a cook, serving Catholic Priest, Rev. Father Michael Tumba in Abuja had demonstrated a true commitment to his duties for 18 years and deserved to be honoured. Just like a best man would do, he helped the groom to adjust his tie and also cleaned his face at intervals.

40 Soldiers attacked by Boko Haram in the north of Borno State.
No fewer than 40 soldiers of the Nigerian Army were feared killed in a Boko Haram ambush in the north of Borno State.
A highly placed military source told our correspondent on Tuesday that about 65 others were missing as a result of the attack by the Islamic militants.
Investigations revealed that the insurgents attacked the soldiers in Kasiya Forests, north of Borno State.

Revolution in Nigeria Has Began – Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi
Kayode Fayemi, the Ekiti State Governor said Friday that a revolution has now began in Nigeria and will continue until the change Nigerians have for years been yearning for takes root.
The governor was speaking at the official launch of the All Progressive Change (APC) in Ekiti State at Oluyemi Kayode Stadium, Ado-Ekiti. Fayemi said the APC is no longer the opposition party but the alternative government, which the nation wants at the centre.

Former governor of Ondo State, Olusegun Agagu has passed on. Agagu, who also served as minister of power under Obasanjo administration reportedly slumped and died this evening Friday September 13th at his home in Lagos. He was 65 years old. May his soul rest in peace

Chief Lere Paimo, MFR, popularly known as Eda, is the acting Chairman, Board of Trustees of the Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners (ANTP). The veteran thespian recently visited the Tribune House, in Ibadan to debunk rumours doing the rounds on his state of health.

Jungle Justice : Armed Robber Burnt Alive In Onitsha Anambra State
Close to the location of a baby found dumped in Onitsha on Friday was the badly burnt body of a young man in his late 20s who had boarded a luxury bus going to Lagos with a view to robbing other passengers on the way but luck ran against him as he was searched and a locally made pistol found on him.
The incident according eyewitness accounts occurred at 9pm on Thursday when the suspect dressed in a black suit boarded the luxury bus with other passengers. But when the driver wanted to move, he asked that a search on passengers be conducted and it was during the search that a locally made pistol fell off from the suspect’s pocket. As a result, he was lynched and burnt by irate youths.

Sometimes i wonder why people can be so wicked. A baby was found dead this morning inside a gutter along Upper New Market road axis of Onitsha in Anambra State. A reader who lives in the state took the photo and sent it in. The baby was well dressed and dumped there. Incredibly sad. There's a new islamic sect in Niger State known as Kala Kato
We've not finished battling Boko Haram now we are hearing of a new Islamic sect called Kala Kato that has settled in Rafi Local Government Section of Niger State. According to what the spokesman of the Niger state Police command, ASP Richard Adamu told Daily Trust, the sect are reported to be preaching some ideologies thought to be in comparison with conventional Islamic teaching. He said they're preaching contrary to the teaching of Hadith (traditions of the holy prophet) and emphasising only on the contents of the Holy Quran. ASP Adamu said most locals are apprehensive of these presence.

Fulani cattle herdsmen sluthered 2 brothers in Imo state
The plight of residents of Umuekwunne Irete in Imo State got worse yesterday Thursday August 8th 2013 as fulani cattle herdsmen opened fire on the community, injuring several young men. Worse off is Chibuzor Hezekiah Okorie (pictured above) who was shot in the stomach and also cut in the chest and leg with a machete. His brother was also attacked.
