Students of the University of Benin yesterday Wednesday June 5th marched round the streets of Benin, protesting the death of one of their own, a final student named Ibrahim Momodu, who was allegedly killed and hurriedly buried by men of the Ogida police station, in Benin.

According to reports, Ibrahim Momodu (pictured above) was allegedly killed on May 27th by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ogida station, Carol Afebgai (pictured above, right).

According to the deceased elder sister, Rebecca Egbe, Ibrahim was shot dead and buried the next day without the family even knowing he was dead.

The Edo State Police Public Relations Officer, Moses Eguavoen later told newsmen that Momodu was an armed robber, saying that a gun, bullets, two mobile phones and a bag was found on him. The family deny this. They say Momodu was not an armed robber and are asking for justice for their son.

The Thisday office was bombed to appease Allah, witness tells court

Click banner for more info

The Abuja Division of the Federal High Court, yesterday, heard how alleged kingpin of the Boko Haram sect, Mustapher Umar, bombed office of Thisday Newspaper in Kaduna State with 12 camp gas cylinders in a bid to appease Allah. Justice Ademola Adeniyi, who admitted a burnt Honda Car, with number-plate AL-306-MKA, allegedly used to perpetrate the terrorist act on April 26, 2012, further heard how the accused person cried bitterly when he was rescued from the burning car, saying they denied him the opportunity of inheriting 72 virgins in heaven.

In a bid to prove the complicity of the accused person, the Federal Government brought a senior police officer that is charged with the responsibility of keeping exhibits recovered from terror suspects to testify before the high court. The masked witness, PW-8, who told the court that the accused person had intended to carry out a suicide attack, produced the burnt Honda car, the discharged cylinders, half-charred 25 litter jerry-can that allegedly contained fuel, and persuaded Justice Adeniyi to move the court outside to inspect the terror items.

Why we can’t enforce ban on naira spraying - CBN

Click banner for more info

The Central Bank of Nigeria on Wednesday said the law enforcement agencies should be held responsible for the ineffectiveness of the law banning spraying of currencies at social gatherings in the country. The CBN said because of the disinterest shown by the law enforcement agencies in apprehending those violating the law banning spraying of currencies, the perpetrators had persisted in the unlawful act.

Deputy Governor in charge of Operations, CBN, Mr. Tunde Lemo, who said this in Abeokuta during a sensitisation workshop on the commencement of the cash-less policy in Ogun State, however, said it was not the duty of the apex bank to enforce the law. The Federal Government had, through a bill signed into law in 2007 by the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, criminalised all manners of abuse of the Naira. The law also prescribed six months imprisonment or N50,000 fine or both sanctions for offenders. Lemo, however, expressed regret that the law enforcement agencies had so far been unable to arrest or prosecute any violator for spraying money or abusing naira notes since the bill was signed into law about six years ago.

Culled from Punch Nigeria
The North on Wednesday disagreed with the National Assembly on the proscription of two Islamic miltant groups – Boko Haram and Ansaru–by President Goodluck Jonathan.
While the North through its two prominent groups, the Arewa Consultative Forum and the Northern Elders Forum, faulted the ban, the National Assembly insisted that it was a welcome development.
To the ACF and the NEF, the Jonathan administration has through the ban thrown a spanner in the works in its efforts to  end   bloodletting in the North  through amnesty for Boko Haram and Ansaru members.

Senate stops N4bn first ladies’ mission house project

Click banner for more info

The Senate on Wednesday dropped the controversial African First Ladies’ Peace Mission House project when it passed the N259.65bn budget of the Federal Capital Territory for the 2013 fiscal year without approving the N4bn appropriated for it.
In February when the budget proposal was brought to the National Assembly, it contained N4bn vote for the construction of the mission house in Abuja, a development that attracted a lot of criticisms from members of the public.
The Senate, during the second reading of the bill, questioned the rationale of committing scarce resources to prosecute a less important structure.
Civil rights groups and political parties had also berated the Federal Capital Territory Administration for budgeting N4bn for the construction of the building for a non-governmental body headed by the wife of the President, Mrs. Patience Jonathan.

Ole Gbe, Ole Gba: US Government seize home belonging to Alamieyeseigha in Maryland

Click banner for more info

The US government has seized a Rockville home belonging to former Bayelsa governor, DiepreyeAlamieyeseigha, the U.S. Department of Justice said in a news release last week Friday May 31.

Feds said they seized the home because the former governor bought the house using stolen state money. Alamieyeseigha was ordered to relinquish the $700,000 home on May 24, following an investigation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Fedederal prosecutors claim Alamieyeseigha bought the Rockville property during his first term as governor “with funds obtained through corruption, abuse of office, money laundering and other violations of Nigerian and U.S. law.”

Dangote to site $8bn refinery in Olokola FTZ

Click banner for more info

Indications emerged on Wednesday that the $8bn refinery proposed by Africa’s richest man and President, Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, would be located at the Olokola Free Trade Zone, Ondo State.
A senior official of the company, who asked not to be named because he was not authorised to speak on the matter, told our correspondent that the refinery would be located in the OFTZ.
One of the factors considered for the location of the refinery, according to the source, is that it is the biggest deep seaport in the country and other big industries are located there; besides, Ondo is one of the oil producing states in the country.

57 year old cab driver Solomon James Okoroh (pictured above) was shot dead around 3am yesterday morning Tuesday June 4th in the 2400 block of Ontario Road, Adams Morgan, by two men who tried to rob him while riding in his cab, according to DC police. The two suspects bailed out and got into a running gun battle with officers. Police caught one of them in the street, but the other tried to hide in a nearby apartment.

Boko Haram Solution: Opinion By Balogun Adesina

Click banner for more info

Unedited From Ọmọ Oódua Reader: Facebook Profile
To solve this problem. Boarders should be secured 24/7 surveillance around the boarders. First thing first. Shipment coming into Nigeria should be searched or scanned. Mighty Scans should be in place. Let them put surveillance camera everywhere in the country to track people. Even the worst place. They should stop using old models. Trace any transfer of funds more than 2,000,000 Naira. . Also, let everyone in the country register their home. ( Lagos about to start). Also the issue of identity and Immigration laws should be in place. Employ the best brains in the IT industry to capture, save and process data. Let access to data be available to TOP officials and the police. Reform the way we police the people.
Maritime reform will create loads of job Both permanent and indirect jobs.  Education too. Education Reform!!! Education reform is not by building more universities or federal uni. The Government is just tooo stupid and useless.. They are not using their brain at all. Why will you let america be helping you fight Boko Haram. OMG! If you trace it very well you will know. Nigerian are smarter than this..

This government is just use-less.

Please open your senses..

Comment Of The Day: NIGERIA FACES SECOND COLONIZATION - MUST READ

Click banner for more info

Fellow Nigerians, the recent FG's effort at classifying Boko Haram as a terror organisation, to my knowledge is both cosmetic and a way to subvert to sovereignty of this Country. Our Sovereignty will be subverted because, in FG's desperation to give Boko Haram international colouration, we are inviting both US and Israeli intervention into Nigeria. This is second colonialism. We will become another Afghanistan, Pakistan and another Iraq, where the US will rule us via proxy.

Drone strikes will be common place and civilian casualties will be treated same way as its done in Afghanistan.
Boko Haram is a domestic issue, as a result of mis-governance, government corruption  poverty, illiteracy, desertification, lack of border control and government's cluelessness.

Insecurity is everywhere in the 36 states of the country but they appear in different forms. We should go to root-cause analysis and not a knee-jerk approach.

Mentally Sick Woman Gathers Her Family To Pray Just Before Shooting Them [MUGSHOT]

Hours before she killed her two sons, her ex-husband and her stepmother and tried to frame it on one of the slain children, Susan Hendricks gathered her family together to pray. She said she was worried about her older son, Matthew, because he seemed so down after several people forgot his birthday the day before.

"I know it sounds pretty fricking bizarre, but we pray a lot as a family," Hendricks told investigators in a room at the Pickens County Sheriff's Office, just hours after authorities discovered the bodies.
