British Researchers teaming up with Dangote to Release Ebola Vaccine by December





There appears to be a ray of hope in the fight against Ebola. 
Dr. Mike Turner, a British scientist researching Ebola, told Punch that thanks to a partnership between the non-governmental organisation he works with, and Dangote Foundation, an Ebola vaccine could be available as early as December this year.
Turner is Head of Infection at the Wellcome Trust, an NGO in the UK that facilitates medical research.

Aliko Dangote Elder Brother Dies - R.I.P



Africa's richest man, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, has lost his elder brother, Alhaji Garba Dangote, who died Thursday following a brief illness. Dangote confirmed that his death came very suddenly as he suffered a huge stroke on Wednesday, and quit the ghost some hours later.  The 80-year-old like his younger brother, was a businessman and the first son in the family. Alhaji Garba was buried in accordance with Muslim rites yesterday in Kano. He's survived by a  lovely wife  and children

Based on a story by Encomium magazine, Bishop David Oyedepo, Alhaji Aliko Dangote and Dr. Mike Adenuga are among the most effective 10 Nigerian billionaires who will probably pay countless millions of naira annually as luxury tax due to the imposition of a whooping $4,000 luxury tax by Aviation Ministry on private jet owners and operators per departure.

Dangote to chair World Economic Forum



President, Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has been appointed a co-chair of next year’s annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos-Kloster, Switzerland.
The Executive Chairman, World Economic Forum, Prof. Klaus Schwab, in a letter inviting the business mogul to co-chair the sitting, said the WEF was of the belief that Dangote’s participation would contribute significantly to the substance of the discussions.
Schwab said in the letter, “The discussions aim to stimulate an unparalleled global dialogue among the relevant leaders from the government, business, academia, civil society and the media.

Aliko Dangote borrows $3.3billion from 12 banks to build oil refinery



12 local and international banks have loaned Africa's richest man and foremost industrialist Aliko Dangote $3.3 billion to build Nigeria’s biggest petroleum refinery and petrochemical/fertilizer plants.

The banks are: Standard Chartered Nigeria, Guaranty Trust Bank, Fidelity Bank, Ecobank Nigeria, United Bank for Africa, Access Bank, Zenith Bank, Standard Bank of South Africa, Diamond Bank, First Bank Nigeria, First City Monument Bank, and FirstRand Bank.

Father Of Two Kicked The Bucket As Explosion Guts Dangote Cement Plant



Emotion ran pretty high, Wednesday, evening, at the Gboko plant of the Dangote Cement, when an explosion allegedly claimed the live of a father of two and labourer at the factory, one Mr. Solomon Ashir.  In accordance with an eyewitness, the deceased was hit by limestone from the quarry site of the plant which led to his instant death before medical attention could reach him, adding that the incident sparked angry reaction from his colleagues and youths of the host community who barricaded the factory and Makurdi-Gboko road with bonfire in protest against alleged poor safety measures in the plant.

A father Dies As Explosion guts Dangote Cement Plant





“The deceased who was an indigene of the host community and staff of the parking plant of the company was hit by limestone at the quarry after an explosion that occurred when workers at the site were prospecting for raw materials.

“His death sparked angry reaction from fellow workers and youths of the community who in protest took the corpse of the young man to the palace of the traditional ruler of the community, Tyoor Ukpekpe, Chief Ishi Yonguigba.

Dangote to site $8bn refinery in Olokola FTZ



Indications emerged on Wednesday that the $8bn refinery proposed by Africa’s richest man and President, Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, would be located at the Olokola Free Trade Zone, Ondo State.
A senior official of the company, who asked not to be named because he was not authorised to speak on the matter, told our correspondent that the refinery would be located in the OFTZ.
One of the factors considered for the location of the refinery, according to the source, is that it is the biggest deep seaport in the country and other big industries are located there; besides, Ondo is one of the oil producing states in the country.

Dangote To Build $8bn Oil Refinery





Another chapter will this year be opened in the downstream sector of the petroleum industry, when business mogul Alhaji Aliko Dangote kicks off his plan to establish a refinery in the country.
The federal government had, in 2011, granted approval to 19 multinationals for the setting up of private refineries in the country, but none of them has come on stream due to the regulation of the price of fuel in the country.
Though details of where the refinery will be sited and its capacity were yet to be made known, work on the refinery, which will cost $8 billion, will begin this year.
At a breakfast meeting with some senior editors to mark his 57th birthday in Lagos, Alhaji Dangote said work will start on the refinery once his company secured the final approval from the federal government.

Dangote Plans To Build 2 Billion Dollar Fertilizer Plant In Edo State



The Dangote Group and Nigeria’s Edo State government have concluded plans to set up one of Africa’s largest fertilizer plants in Africa valued at $2 billion. To this end, the groundbreaking ceremony of the fertilizer plant has been slated to take place before the end of January next year.

President of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote announced this at a reception for guests shortly after the swearing-in of Governor Adams Oshiomhole for his second term of office. He said the fertilizer plant to be sited at Agenebode, Etsako East local government area of Edo state would employ more than 10, 000 people directly and indirectly when completed in three years’ time.

A damning verdict has been passed on the present crop of Directors in Nigeria’s civil service as President Goodluck Jonathan accused them of greed and amassing properties. The president gave this indication last Thursday at the funeral service of late Kaduna State Governor, Mr. Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa at Saint Paul Catholic Church, Fadan Kagoma, Jama’a Local Government Area of Kaduna state.

Dangote; Richest Man Africa and Other Nigerians Counted In





Business mogul, Aliko Dangote can still hold his head high as the richest man in Africa just as the 2012 list of Africa’s 40 richest people came out with his name topping it. According to Forbes, most of his net worth lies in publicly traded Dangote Cement which operates in 14 African countries. Nicky Oppenheimer of South Africa comes in once again as the second richest, with a $6.4 billion fortune – down $100 million from the previous year.

Bloomberg Names Dangote, 62nd Richest Man In The World




The President and Chief Executive Officer of Dangote Group of Companies, Mr. Aliko Dangote has been rated  the 62nd richest man in the world with a net worth of $13.5 billion.

According to a report by Bloomberg tagged, ‘The World’s 200 Richest People,’ Dangote is said to be richer than Mark Zuckerberg, founder of Facebook, Rupert Murdoch, CEO and founder of News Corporation, Giorgio Armani, founder of Armani designs who were stated as having net worths of $10.7 billion, $10.4 billion and $7.8 billion respectively.
