Post Of The Day: #Independence53 – Don’t get it twisted, my tribe is Nigeria

My son sees my friends gather in the house and talk things Nigeria. He sees us watch Nigerian games on television and proudly waves the green-white-green flag. He rides in the car and mimes the Nigerian hip-hop songs. He doesn’t know under the American skies, he’s been shielded from the reality of a country sometimes so divided you wonder, is it really a country?
A year ago, my five year-old son was asked to give a talk to his class about himself. He stuns his teachers when he tells them he’s Nigerian. The teacher corrects him. “You’re American, your father was Nigerian as were your grandparents,” the head teacher tries to correct him.

Ex-Miss Malaysia could get £500m payout in divorce

A former Miss Malaysia is attempting to win the UK’s biggest ever divorce payment of 500 million pounds.

The case began at the High Court in London yesterday – and if successful, Pauline Chai could be entitled to up to half of her husband, Khoo Kay Peng’s, fortune.
Lawyers for Mr. Peng however argue that the case should be taking place in Malaysia.
But despite only living in the UK since October however, British law could side in favour of his wife.
66-year-old former Miss Malaysia Pauline Chai filed for divorce in February, just five months after moving to 1,000 acre 30-million-pound home in Hertfordshire.
The mother of five has been married to her husband, the 74-year-old Malaysian businessman Khoo Kay Peng, for 42 years, but now wants a divorce on the grounds of «unreasonable behavior».

US State Department acknowledged that one of its officials has now become a target of an investigation over “allegations of improprieties relating to a Consular Officer formerly assigned to Georgetown, Guyana”. The Daily Caller reports that Department officer is being accused of selling visas for sex and money.

The great affray started when Guyana’s executives and tourists began to complain that their visa applications were being held up, and local media reported few times that a visa official was demanding bribes and sex in exchange for visas.
Local media are also claiming the official, whose activities have recently been frozen until the completion of an official investigation, was a close associate of local drug lords who played an integral role in his visa scam.

Healthy nutrients you need to fend off mental and physical stress and get back to a state of bliss.

Donuts, cookies, chips—there’s no denying that certain high-fat and high-sugar foods are the go-to ways to self-medicate when we’re stressed. But the truth is, those same foods can send our feel-good hormones on a roller coaster ride and leave us feeling sluggish, depressed and worse than ever. So rather than reaching for junk food the next time you’re feeling frazzled, do your mind and body a favor by going for complex carbs, healthy fats or lean proteins.

Sacked Air Nigeria Workers May not Get their Pension

Chinedu Eze
There are indications that the over 700 workers of the now-rested Air Nigeria who were sacked last year may not secure the 25 per cent of their pension deposits.
This is because they were not issued with disengagement letters and the company which relieved them of their jobs did not communicate to the Pension Commission (PENCOM) that they have been sacked, THISDAY has learnt.
The workers are eligible to receive 25 per cent of their contributions to the scheme after they have remained unemployed six months after their sack, but that hope seems to have been dashed as the workers who lost their jobs when the company closed on September 10, 2012 may not receive the contributions, unless the Chairman of the company, Mr. Jimoh Ibrahim, intervenes.

Commenting on why the north is putting its act together in order to present a formidable team, Abdullahi said, “We are trying now to unify our people (northerners) that have been divided along ethnic and religious lines in the last two years.
And very soon you will hear the north talking from one platform.

How To Get Up And Move On When Your Guy Doesn’t Want To Commit

Guess what a woman often does if a man is not quite up to her standards? She actually thinks she can turn him into that type of man. Many women feel they can change a man over time. Can you believe in this day and age, there are women who still think this is possible?
Scores of women think they’ve found The One. He is Mr. Right. He has it going on. So here we can ask them, “Why are you waiting to talk to me? If you have met ‘The One,’ then you don’t need advice from me.” Then they shall start telling their stories. I listen, just hoping they’re not going to say those words I truly hate to hear women say: “But I love him. I really want to make this work.” Or, “I think he can change. He just needs someone like me in his life.” Right. Just like you need another hole in your head”.

The Reason Why Good Guys Get Their Hearts Broken

Valentine’s Day has come and gone, but I just thought we could discuss some relationship truths to ensure you’re not alone next Valentine, and if you weren’t this year, to ensure you don’t lose your partner.
I’ve been seeing posts on Facebook and tweets on Twitter asking questions about why the good guys often get their hearts broken. I may have some of the answers here; answers which may ensure you are not alone next Valentine.
I’ve tried being a ‘bad boy’ in girl-issues, and as much as that was strange to me, it worked like magic.
