Photo: Over 40 dead by Boko Haram sprayed Bullets on Sleeping Students In Yobe.



Boko Haram men this morning stormed the College of Agriculture of Gujba in Yobe State and killed over 40 students while they were asleep. This is not the first time Boko Haram members will be storming a school to carry out their unholy act. Only few months ago, they attacked a secondary school killing over 24 students. An official at the Damaturu Specialist Hospital, in Yobe has confirmed that 40 bodies have been received so far. May their souls rest in peace
.


ASUP resumes strike on Friday




The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics is to resume its suspended strike on Friday  following  the inability of the Federal Government to resolve outstanding issues with the union.

ASUP Chairman, Mr. Clement Chirman, told newsmen in Jos on Sunday that “the frustrating inertia of the Federal Government to convincingly fulfil any of the promises and agreements reached with the union before the suspension of the earlier strike on July 172013 shows that government is not serious.”

33-Year Old Nigerian Man Charged To Court In US For Supporting Al Qaeda



A Nigerian, Lawal Babafemi, 33, was on Friday arraigned in a U.S. Federal Court, on charges of providing material support to al Qaeda and criminal use of firearms.

Babafemi, who is also known as “Ayatollah Mustapha’’, was arraigned on a four-count charge of indictment, conspiracy, providing material support to AQAP, and use of firearms.

He allegedly provided the support to the group in the Arabian Peninsula, the terrorist organisation’s Yemen-based affiliate.

Nigerian Woman Dies: Tolu Kalejaiye Stabbed To Death by Son in her London Home




On Thursday the 26th of September, 2013, the family of Mrs Tolu Kalejaiye, a London-basedaccountant and mother were shocked when they learnt of her untimely death.

The 46-year-old hardworking mother was found stabbed to death at her house in Wickford, Essexaround 10 am on Thursday morning. As we speak, her 21-year-old son, Oladotun Emmanuel Kalejaiye has been charged for her murder.

A Vessel Carrying 150 Guests Capsize In River Niger! No One Has Been Found Alive Yet

French National Kidnapped By Ansaru Calls For “Negotiations”



Nigerian Islamist group Ansaru (Ansar al-Muslimeen) on Friday released a video of a French national kidnapped in December, the SITE jihadi tracking website said.
In the video, posted online, the hostage identifies himself as 63-year-old Francis Collomp, an engineer with the French firm Vergnet, who was “kidnapped in Rimi in Katsina state on 19 December 2012 till today, 25 September 2013.”

The hostage appears wearing a white t-shirt, with an unidentified person holding a weapon in the background.

Prof. Wole Soyinka Escaped Death In Nairobi Kenya Mall Assault



But for a stroke of luck, Nobel laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka, would have been among the dead in the terror attack that took place at the Nairobi Westgate mall in Kenya last weekend.

Speaking at a press conference at the Freedom Park, Victoria Island, Lagos, on Friday in honour of the late Ghanaian poet, Professor Kofi Awoonor who died in the attack, Soyinka led a group of eminent Nigerian writers to condemn the Nairobi massacre. Soyinka, who said he, like Awoonor, was invited to the Storymoja/ Hay Literature Festival, said he couldn’t attend because of other pressing engagements he had elsewhere.

Irritated Okada Man Flings himself In Entrance Of Oncoming Truck over Seizure Of His Bike



Pandemonium broke out yesterday at Iyana Adeoyo, Ring Road part of Ibadan when an unidentified man in his thirties, attempted suicide by jumping facing oncoming vehicle, after officers of the Oyo State commercial vehicle registration unit impounded his bike because his papers were fake.

Abdul Haji, Kenyan-Somali Muslim Saves Hundreds Throughout Westgate Enemy Assault, Hailed As International Hero!



Mr Haji has been having nightmares since Saturday. His wife tells him he weeps in his sleep and Wednesday was the first time he went to work.
“I'm angry at what I saw, what those individuals did, and the claim they did it in the name of Islam,” he explained yesterday, insisting on being interviewed in a public place what he explained was an indicator of defiance to terror. “I'm a Kenyan-Somali and I'm Muslim; Islam does not advocate violence. They are doing the opposite of what Islam teaches,” he said.

Police Arrested Chinese Man for ₦105m fraud



The Special Fraud Unit of the Nigeria Police Force, Ikoyi, Lagos State has arrested a Chinese fugitive, Fang Yang, for his involvement in a 105m fraud.

The SFU said Yang had  been declared wanted in China about 17 years ago for fraud perpetrated against the 2nd Sub Branch of China Agricultural Bank of Qingdao in 1996.

Police IG, Lagos Police Commissioner Sued For ₦25 Million over Neglect of Mother



The family of a woman, Taskirat Anjolaiya, who was hit by a reckless and negligent police driver and knocked into a comatose state along with her new born baby, has filed a N25 million lawsuit against the police. Inspector General of Police Mohammed Dahiru Abubakar and the Lagos State Commissioner of Police Umar Manko are named as defendants in the lawsuit.

The accident occurred three months ago in Lagos as a police driver in an official van drove in the wrong direction on a one-way street.

Taraba: My deputy betrayed me, says Suntai Taraba



AILING Taraba State Governor Danbaba Suntai has accused his deputy, Alhaji Garba Umar, of betrayal. Suntai said he least expected the deputy governor to lust for his (Suntai’s) office given the confidence he reposed in him.
Suntai, who spoke through his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr. Sylvanus Yakubu, said the governor was not the only one that felt betrayed but the entire people of the state.

University Don Urges FG To Dedicate 36 Per Cent of Budget To Education



An educationist, Abiola Awosika on Tuesday urged the federal government to dedicate 35 per cent of its budget to education to ensure that the country meets the international educational standard.
Speaking during a programme on Channels Television, the education professor said she had written an academic article in 1992, recommending that 25 per cent of Nigeria’s budget be dedicated to education because “we had a shortfall and we needed to catch up with the rest of the world”.

Fashola Apologises To Igbos Over Deportation Saga - The Nation Newspaper

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN) on Thursday offered an unreserved apology for the misunderstanding generated by the alleged deportation of some destitutes to Onitsha, Anambra State.
The state government was accused of dumping 70 beggars at Onitsha Bridge on July 24, a situation that generated public outcry and bad blood.
