Hundreds of protesters, who were wrongfully disengaged by the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) stormed the National Assembly Complex, Abuja, in the early hours of Tuesday and grounded all activities, locking out the President of the Senate, David Mark, Speaker of the House of Reps, Aminu Tambuwal, other lawmakers, staff and visitors to the complex.
TON gathered that the angry protesters who stormed the assembly complex with sleeping mats, beddings and their kids, vowed not to vacate the premises until their demands were met. They are, among other issues, demanding that President Goodluck Jonathan sack the DG of the NIMC, Chris Onyenema over the sack of over 4,000 staff without following due process, their reinstatement or payment of their full benefits.
