President Goodluck Jonathan’s Convoy Involved In Auto Accident In Paris



President Goodluck Jonathan‘s vehicle convoy was yesterday involved in an accident in Paris, France. The accident reportedly occurred as President Jonathan was traveling with his aides to a meeting with the French President Francois Gerard Hollande.

According to SaharaReporters, a French Police source disclosed that the accident occurred 15 minutes away from the Elysee Palace, the venue of the official meeting with the French leader. The car involved in the accident was the fifth car behind that of President Jonathan.

Father Sets House Ablaze And Kills His 6 Children As He Frames Ex-Girlfriend



A father accused of killing his six children in a house fire started the blaze as part of a 'plan' to frame his ex-girlfriend after becoming locked in a custody battle with her, a court has heard.
Mick Philpott, along with his wife Mairead, allegedly started the fire at their semi-detached home after making reports to the police that his former partner, Lisa Willis, had been threatening him and his family.
There were emotional scenes during their manslaughter trial at Nottingham Crown Court today as the 999 call made by the couple as the fire took hold was played to the jury.

Baby Survives As Family Die in Mecca Taxi Crash



Five members of the same family have been killed in a car crash in Saudi Arabia – but a one-year-old baby survived.
Three generations of the family, from Wales, had been making a religious pilgrimage to Mecca ahead of a family wedding when the taxi they were travelling in crashed into a ditch.
The victims have been named locally as Shaukat Ali Hayat, 56, his wife Abida, 47, eldest son Mohammed Isshaq, 33, daughter Saira Zenub and Mohammed’s heavily pregnant wife, Bilques, 31. It is believed one-year-old Mohammed Eisa Daniel was the only survivor. Reports say he was found among the crumpled wreckage being cradled in the arms of his dying grandfather.

Man Sent to Jail for stabbing 16-year boy



AbeokutaA –  Magistrates’ Court in Abeokuta on Tuesday sentenced a 20-year-old man, Bidemi Jayeola, to one year imprisonment for stabbing a 16-year-old boy.  The Magistrate, Mr Matins Akinyemi, sentenced Jayeola after he pleaded guilty to the charge of assault filed against him.  Akinyemi, who did not give the convict an option of fine, said the sentence was with hard labour.  
The magistrate said that the offence was classified as a violent crime.

He said that Jayeola inflicted “serious bodily injury” on another person, therefore, he had to go to jail and think about his actions. The Police Prosecutor, Mr Sunday Eigbejiale, told the court that the offence was committed on Dec. 24, 2012, at about 8 p.m. at Olorunda village in Abeokuta.

'I Suffered From Cancer' – Governor Chime



After several months of cover ups by aides to Governor Sullivan Chime of Enugu State, the Governor has opened up on his state of health, declaring that he suffered from cancer of the nose.
 
In a chat with journalists on Monday at the Enugu Government House, Chime who returned last Friday after spending 140 days abroad said he used his long vacation to attend to his health.
This is contrary to claims by his media aides that he is hale and hearty. Throughout Chime’s absence, his information commissioner, Chuks Ugwuoke debunked several reports on the Governor’s illness.

Nigeria’s Super Eagles arrived back home here on Tuesday, after winning the country’s first Africa Cup of Nations trophy in nearly two decades and were welcomed by adoring crowds ahead of meeting the president.
Hundreds welcomed the team back at the airport in the capital of Abuja before an ceremony later in the afternoon at the National Stadium.  They were also due to attend a reception on Tuesday, to be hosted by President Goodluck Jonathan.  Along the road from the airport toward the city, school children dressed in their uniforms waited for the team convoy and waved Nigerian flags.

What is Heaven Saying? Lightning Strikes Vatican After Pope's Resignation




Many have tried to 'decode' part of the Pope's tweet which says "We are all sinners". The mystery continued on Tuesday as a strange lightening struck the Vatican hours after Pope Benedict XVI shocked the world with his decision to leave office by the of February, 2013.  TON gathered from credible international sources that the lightning touched the dome of St. Peter's Basilica, one of the holiest Catholic churches early Tuesday.

After the Pope's admission that he lacks strength to carry on, the Vatican said no specific medical condition prompted his decision to quit. No pope has resigned from office in the last 600 years. Pope Benedict's action surprised even his closest aides.

The members of the Femen movement entered the Gothic cathedral dressed in long coats which they whipped off inside while ringing three bells near the altar.

Robbers kill two soldiers, injure one in Lagos



Two soldiers were killed, while another one was injured after robbers attacked a white man’s residence at Apapa, Lagos State on Sunday night. The robbery, which occurred at about 11pm, was allegedly successful because the robbers used another white man to gain entrance to the victim’s building. It was learnt that the robbers were able to deceive the victim’s security guards because of the presence of the white man who was with the robbers.
Police sources told PUNCH Metro that some of the robbers, on gaining entrance, shot sporadically into the air, while other members of the gang stormed the victim’s rooms, ransacking everywhere.
They were said to have made away with some of his valuables. The victim was not hurt.

After Presidential Intervention, Keshi Withdraws His Resignation



The Super Eagles Coach, Stephen Keshi, who had resigned his appointment immediately after his team emerged victorious in the AFCoN finals on Sunday the 10th of February against Burkina Faso has been persuaded by the presidency to withdraw his resignation while the authorities look into his dispute with the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF).

This much was disclosed by a source in the presidency who said The official said “Yes, it is very true that Keshi resigned his position as coach of the Eagles. That he confirmed to us. It was quite alarming given the complaints he brought up. There were a lot on things going on that the nation didn’t know.

Stephen Keshi Reportedly Resigns As Super Eagles Coach



According to reports Nigerian coach, Stephen Keshi, who less than 24 hours ago, led the Super Eagles to victory in the Africa Cup of Nations, has resigned as coach of the national team.
According to SuperSport presenter, Robert Marawa, who revealed the information on Twitter, ‘The Big Boss’ confirmed his departure from the post, in an interview with a radio station in South Africa.
The Nigerian coach has submitted his resignation to the Nigerian Football Federation, after a dramatic falling out with the federation.

Lions Bring Rush-Hour Traffic To A Standstill In Nairobi (PHOTOS)





Two lions brought rush-hour traffic to a standstill in Nairobi, Kenya when they decided to have a lie down in the middle the street.

It was during the morning commute on the the edge of the Nairobi National Park that two young males appeared on the side of the road and strolled out in front of cars and trucks for a roll-around.
The African lions’ antics caused tail backs as they found the busy road the perfect place to rub themselves in buffalo faeces,

EFCC re-arraigns Femi Fani-Kayode over alleged money laundering



The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Monday re-arraigned a former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, over alleged money laundering.  Fani-Kayode appeared before Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia of a Federal High Court in Lagos, on a 47-count charge. He, however, pleaded not guilty.  His counsel, Chief Ladi Williams, prayed the court to allow him to continue with the bail granted him by Justice Ramat Mohammed, who earlier handled the case.
Williams also prayed the court to allow Fani-Kayode the liberty to travel abroad at will for medical check up, as granted him by Justice Binta Murtala- Nyako, who also had handled the case.

Female Teacher Had Sèx With 14-Year-Old Student ’40′ Times



A 35-year-old paraeducator is accused of repeatedly raping a 14-year-old boy during a 10-month period who was friends with her son.
Katheryn L. Carmean, 35, was arrested in Seaford, Del. on Wednesday and charged with ten counts of third-degree rape, continuous sèxual abuse of a child and endangering the welfare of a child, according to a press release from the Delaware State Police.  Delaware Online reports that Carmean was arrested at Seaford Middle School where she works as a paraeducator who assists children with disabilities. She has been suspended from her position.

Man falls 5 stories after driving his car into an empty elevator shaft



A parking attendant has narrowly escaped serious injury while driving an SUV in an empty elevator shaft and fell five stories in a garage in the Upper East Side of Manhattan, authorities said.  The driver backed the black Lexus 350 in the shaft and the vehicle overturned after falling on top of a lift at street level in the Valet Parking Garage in the city at E. 76th St. between First and Second Avenues.

Customer at an Internet Cafe Shoots Two Robbers



Samuel Williams 63, is being called a hero after he stopped an armed robbery.

The robbery took place at Palms Internet Cafe in Marion County, Florida.

Two masked men walked into the internet café, one man had a gun while the other had a bat. 

The men started rounding up customers and one of them smashed a computer screen. 

That’s when Williams took action.

Kidnappers sell boys for N450,000, girls N150,000



ABAKALIKI — UNIDENTIFIED persons, weekend, kidnapped a three-year-old boy, Ejike Emmanuel, at Akaeze in Ivo Local Government Area of the state.
Vanguard gathered that the boy was abducted in front of his parent’s compound at Obulo-Iyioji village in Akaeze by two suspected kidnappers, a man and woman, who disguised as customers to the mother of the victim, Mrs Nnennaya Emmanuel.
