Candidate of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Chris Ngige, has admonished the people of Enugwu Ukwu in Njikoka, LGA of Anambra State to rise and vote in a governor they can trust to deliver and improve their town based on pedigree, rather than a deputy governor they would merely claim.

Mr Ngige apparently referring to the running mate for one of the parties contesting next Saturday’s elections who hails from the town, told the crowd which followed his convoy after attending a burial ceremony in the town, that it was time the community took a clear position.

The All Progressives Congress says the “sensationalisation” of the recent “home return” of 14 persons from Lagos State by Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State can threaten the nation’s unity.

Obi playing politics with Nigeria’s unity —APC

The party, in a statement on Sunday by its Interim National Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed, said Obi’s action was dangerous.
The APC said instead of reaching out to his Lagos State counterpart, as he had done on less important issues in the past, Obi wrote an “over-dramatised letter” to the Presidency and leaked it to the media.
According to the party, Obi, by his action, has set off an avoidable friction between the Igbo and the Yoruba.
The APC added that Obi by the approach, wanted to gain an undue advantage ahead of the forthcoming Anambra governorship election.
The APC stated, “We are not saying Governor  Obi has no right to play politics, but he must fight clean and avoid any action that could hurt, not just the enduring harmony between the Igbo and the Yoruba, but also the unity of the country.
“Resorting to primordial sentiments, anytime election is approaching, is Governor Obi’s modus operandi. He did it just before the 2009 election, when he labelled the ACN, under which Dr. Chris Ngige contested, as a Yoruba party, and he is going down the same path now. This is all about the November 2013 election.

Choosing People Over Politics In Nigeria

SPEAKER of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, has been preaching this message for a while – service to the people should be above partisan leanings. He has won few converts in his class.
The emphasis on party loyalty over service to the people who elected them is at the centre of the growing contests among the peoples of Nigeria and their representatives. Politicians think they are divined to be over Nigerians. They consider Nigerians irritants to be reluctantly faced during elections.
In the House of Representatives, there have been glimpses of possibilities of using politics to serve our peoples who have suffered neglects over the years. Politicians see politics as the veritable platform to place themselves above the people.

Part 2: ‘Entire nations intercepted online” – ‘ALL THE INFRASTRUCTURE HAS BEEN BUILT FOR ABSOLUTE TOTALITARIANISM - ASSANGE

JA: It's both. I mean the surveillance infrastructure, the bulk surveillance infrastructure – there are hundreds of companies involved in that business. They have secret international conferences, they have prospectuses that they give to intelligence agencies that we have obtained and published this year together with Privacy International and the Bureau of Investigative Journalism. Also, The Wall Street Journal has done some good work on this. They are building devices that they advertise to intercept entire nations, to install the data from those intercepts permanently – strategic interception, because it's cheaper.
