Six Northrop Grumman airborne radar systems that cost $9.3 million each, 15 Sikorsky Black Hawk helicopters that average more than $17 million apiece, eight AS-350 models Black Hawk helicopters with digital cockpit, eight light enforcement helicopters made by American Eurocopter that sell for about $3 million each, 17 UH-1N helicopters made by Bell Helicopter, 4,595 unattended ground sensors, 104 radiation isotope identification devices, 53 fiber-optic tank inspection scopes, four new drones, on top of 10 unmanned aircraft that the Border Patrol already owns, are on the US Border Patrol’s wish list, according to the Washington Post.

Brzezinski: Saudi Arabia, Qatar, their western allies orchestrated Syria crisis - former US national security adviser

The former US national security adviser says the ongoing crisis in Syria has been orchestrated by Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and their western allies.

“In late 2011 there are outbreaks in Syria produced by a drought and abetted by two well-known autocracies in the Middle East: Qatar and Saudi Arabia,” Zbigniew Brzezinski said in an interview withThe National Interest on June 24.

He added that US President Barack Obama also supported the unrest in Syria and suddenly announced that President Bashar al-Assad “has to go -- without, apparently, any real preparation for making that happen.”

“Then in the spring of 2012, the election year here, the CIA under General Petraeus, according to The New York Times of March 24th of this year, a very revealing article, mounts a large-scale effort to assist the Qataris and the Saudis and link them somehow with the Turks in that effort,” said Brzezinski, who was former White House national security adviser under Jimmy Carter and now a counselor and trustee at the Center for Strategic and International Studies and a senior research professor at the School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University.

Security Aides Shut Bishops, Nigerian Governors Out Of Achebe’s Burial Service

Overzealous security officers on Thursday shut invited bishops, ministers, as well as state governors out of the burial service of Chinua Achebe.
This happened moments before the arrival of President Goodluck Jonathan, who was accompanied by his Ghanaian counterpart, John Dramani.  At the end of a moving sermon in which he highlighted Achebe’s immortality, Rt. Reverend Ikechi Okafor said that he “deliberately” left the matter till the end of his preaching. “If these priests are not here, Achebe will not be buried.
The security men broke the rule of order of service by locking the bishops outside. Without the men of God, everybody will be seated here doing nothing,” said Rev. Nwosu, the Archbishop of Aba, who represented Most Rev. Nicholas Okoh, Primate of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion. While half of the priests were standing at the altar awaiting the others to join them, the other half were locked out alongside Governors Peter Obi and Theodore Orji of Anambra and Abia States respectively.
