The Progressive Governors Forum has accused President  Goodluck Jonathan of  using his powers to bully Rivers State Governor, Mr. Rotimi  Amaechi.  The governors stated this on Friday while reacting to the  action of the armed  policemen that blocked one of the gates leading to the  Rivers State Government  House on Thursday.

The governors in a statement titled, “Blockade to Rivers  Government House:  Assault on Constitution and Descent to Anarchy”, said the  incident was a direct  affront on constitutional order.  They said, “A situation whereby  the Federal Government will use powers vested in it under the  constitution to bully  and intimidate state governments is unacceptable and should  be resisted by  every democratic government.

4 men get death sentence for gang rap*e and murder of student

The four Indian men who attacked and raped a 23 year old student on a Delhi bus on December 16th 2012, have been sentenced to death by hanging. An Indian court ruled today Friday September 13th that the men deserved to die for the vicious attack which left the victim with such severe internal injuries she died two weeks later.

Anglican Archbishop Ignatius Kattey Released By Kidnappers

Reporters has learnt that Anglican bishop Ignatius Kattey, who was kidnapped nine days ago by an armed gang in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State, has been released by his abductors. Kattey is the second highest-ranking Anglican prelate in Nigeria. SaharaReporters spoke to Archbishop Kattey’s daughter, Margaret, who confirmed her father’s release. She disclosed that the bishop returned home last night around 8:00 p.m. He was “hale and hearty,” according to his daughter. Another family source declined to say if any ransom was paid to secure the bishop’s release. However, a police source in Rivers State told SaharaReporters that several millions of naira was shelled out to the kidnappers from contributions made by several state governments as well as the office of the Nigerian president.

New details about deceptive activity of US’ National Security Agency came to the fore on Sunday. Agency used specific hack attacks dubbed “man in the middle” (MITM), allowing to redirect users to a copycat site which relays all the data entered to NSA data banks.

A disrobing report was released by Brazilian TV network Globo News last weekend. It is based on classified information, revealed by former CIA employee Edward Snowden.

Ogun Customs Assures Investors, Businessmen On FDI

The Nigerian Customs Service in Ogun state has assured investors and businesses of international best practices that would attract more Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).

The area controller of Customs, Ade Dosunmu also appealed for more support to reduce smuggling in the state. He added that Nigeria Customs Service has been able to facilitate trade which has developed rapidly, attributing the growth to instituting of international best practices. He mentioned that the establishment has been able to generate employment and revenue for the government.

US media hid 2009 UN report showing Israel using chemical weapons against Palestinians

Little US media attention is being paid to claims from a UN commission and Russia that Syrian rebels, not government soldiers under President Bashar al-Assad’s control, were responsible for chemical weapons attacks on August 21 that killed over 300 Syrians. The 11 APC governors, including Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State, it was gathered, had been asked to use their contact and speak with the governors on the possibility of defecting from their party.

A former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, has said there are many corrupt Nigerians getting away with corruption with the help of the judiciary.

He stated this in an interview he grantedZero Tolerance, a magazine published by the EFCC.

Reacting to a statement that former Delta Governor, James Ibori, was cleared of corruption by the judiciary in Nigeria, he asked, “How many people have been cleared by our judiciary?

“A judge even said one man should not even be taken to court. So, there are many Nigerians getting away with the help of the judiciary. The judiciary is also part of the challenge. Not to say that all judges are bad, no. There are judges that got a lot of them convicted.

Girl gets Six-Hour Jail sentence For Killing Her Rapist Father

A court in Uganda sentenced a teen age girl to a six-hour jail term for killing her rapist father
It was probably one of the most unusual sentences delivered in the country, but the case was just as unusual as it was heartrending.
The Masaka High Court presided over by Lady Justice Margaret Oumo Oguli, Monday heard that 18-year-old girl killed her father on May 8, after he had molested her.


It was not the first time he was doing so. The 58-year-old man had been molesting the daughter repeatedly from the time she was 13 years old.

400 level Student Arrested With Cocaine At Enugu International Airport (Photos)

Barely few weeks after the jubilation that greeted the commencement of international flights at the newly upgraded Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu; the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has made its first arrest and cocaine seizure. The suspect, Chizoba Anselem Nwabuwa 32 year-old 400 Levels Fine and Applied Arts student was apprehended during the inward screening of passengers on an Ethiopian flight from Brazil enroute Addis-Ababa. He was found to have ingested liquid cocaine packed inside male condoms.
