As senators, we stopped impeachment crisis between Obasanjo, Anyim – Durojaiye

Senator  Biyi Durojaiye in this interview withADEOLA BALOGUN speak on various issues
The way you reel out dates and details of events does not portray a memory of an 80-year-old, what is the secret of that?
God’s grace is the first secret of what you have observed and what many people have also observed. People say I look younger than my age and that I look strong and virile, it is God’s grace. Another contributory factor is inherited good genes. My father was a very healthy person and he lived to nearly 87 and my mother too was a very healthy woman and she lived  nearly 92 before she died. The other one is Spartan discipline; I am not an angel because I too had my fun when I was younger but I avoided excesses. The number of beer bottles I have taken in life can be counted on my finger tips.

It’s unfortunate Akinjide said Yoruba aren’t marginalised –Olajide

Publicity Secretary, Yoruba Unity Forum and former Secretary-General, Yoruba Council of Elders, Dr. Kunle Olajide, speaks on the perceived marginalisation of the Yoruba, nationhood, federalism and more in this interview with AKINWALE ABOLUWADE
The Yoruba Leadership Forum is crying foul over the perceived marginalisation of the South-West. What warranted this?
The bone of contention is that we sincerely believe that injustice in any part of the country is injustice in Nigeria. If any section of Nigeria is treated unjustly, it is injustice to Nigeria. We believe that we have been treated unjustly by the present administration. We have been deprived of political and career appointments even in the ministries, departments and agencies. What appears to be a systematic elimination of Yoruba race has continued to worry us. This was why we had to shout and bring it to the open that the injustice must not be allowed to continue.

The sole aim of the APC is the provision of welfare and security, which Nigerians have been denied in the last 13 years by the PDP, a political party with the philosophy, ‘Food is Ready’ and motto: ‘Share the Money.’
Many Nigerians are of the opinion that there is no ideological difference between any of the political parties, therefore, the APC is a gang-up with the aim to grab power.

Many Nigerian graduates need retraining –Deru

Femi Deru is a former president of the Lagos State Chamber of Commerce and Industry. In this interview with SIMON EJEMBI, he talks about issues relating to employment such as mismatch of skills
The International Labour Organisation recently published a report which says skills mismatch is affecting job creation. How does this happen?
Before you can have a skill, you must have gone through some training and that training requires you to have either been in a university – training to be X, Y, Z. If you are a doctor and you are looking for a job, you go to the hospital. If you are a specialist, for instance, there may be a mismatch for you because you may not get the type of job you need in Nigeria because of the special skill that you have got. That is an example of how the problem of a mismatch of skills may arise.
