Facebook deletes FEMEN movement's account without any explanation

The administration of Facebook has deleted the account of FEMEN International that had more than 80,000 subscribers.

"For the first time, the Facebook administration accused FEMEN in 'propagation of pornography'; this time it didn't explain the reason," the statement published on FEMEN's website says.

FEMEN's representatives think that the administration of Facebook has decided to do this as a result of the growing popularity of "the international movement against censorship of women's breasts on the Internet."

The Presidency on Monday insisted that President Goodluck Jonathan did not sign any agreement with any individual or group that he would serve just one term in office.  The Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Ahmed Gulak, said this in a interview with certainly one of our correspondents in Abuja.

Gulak was reacting to a statement credited to the spokesman of the Arewa Consultative Forum, Anthony Sani, on Monday.

Sani had said  that the crisis in the ruling Peoples Democratic Party will be resolved if Jonathan respected agreements he entered into with stakeholders prior to the 2011 elections.

US sanctions against any country offering asylum to Edward Snowden are unanimously approved in Congress by voice vote as an amendment to next year’s $50.6 billion diplomacy and international aid bill.

The measure introduced by Senator Lindsey Graham demands the State Department coordinate with lawmakers on setting penalties against nations that seek to help Snowden avoid extradition to the United States, where authorities want him prosecuted for revealing details of the government’s massive surveillance system, according to the Washington Post.

"I don’t know if he’s getting a change of clothes. I don’t know if he’s going to stay in Russia forever. I don’t know where he’s going to go," Graham said. "But I know this: That the right thing to do is to send him back home so he can face charges for the crimes he’s allegedly committed."

Yet now it is being reported that after promising not to do so, the President ordered his Vice President to pressure the leaders of nations from which I have requested protection to deny my asylum petitions.

This kind of deception from a world leader is not justice, and neither is the extralegal penalty of exile. These are the old, bad tools of political aggression. Their purpose is to frighten, not me, but those who would come after me.

We Did Not Feeeze any Church's Account-CBN

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)  Friday washed its hands off news making the rounds that it had ordered the freezing of bank accounts of some religious organisations over allegations of link with terrorists.

The bank explained in a statement posted on its website that in order to ensure that the provisions of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act (MLPA) of 2011 were enforced, all Designated Non-Financial Businesses and Professions (DNFBPs) were required to comply with the Know-Your-Customer (KYC) requirement whose deadline was recently extended to December 31, 2013.

The statement signed by the Director, Corporate Communications, CBN, Mr. Ugochukwu Okoroafor, pointed out that the only requirement for the KYC update was the presentation of evidence of registration, specifically, certificate of registration showing registration number with the Special Control Unit Against money Laundering (SCUML).

NBC Reacts, 'We Didn’t Ban Any Video'

The Nigerian Broadcast Commission (NBC) we learnt placed a NTBB ban on some new sets of music videos recently.

It was reported that the banned videos include P Square (Alingo), Wande Coal (Go Low), Timaya(Bum Bum), Flavour (Shake) for being ‘suggestive and provocative’. Others include D’Prince(Take Banana), Goldie (Ski Bobo), Chuddy K (Brazilian Hair) and Tillaman (Koma Roll).

 Owing to what was obtainable from the NBC quarters today, the said story was said to be hoax as the body that monitors or censors these products has denied banning any video.
