Why We Must Rally Round Amaechi – Tinubu

Leader of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN , Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu has urged support for Governor Chibuke Amaechi of Rivers State from the hierarchy of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who he claimed, have added public brawling to their achievements.

In a statement issued by his media office last night, Tinubu described the ensuing crisis in Rivers State as an orchestrated plan that is in line with the PDP’s definition of democracy where minority opinion prevails over majority. He thus warned that Nigerians must rally round the embattled governor and chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum, NGF, to ensure that democracy is not re-defined.

He cited the recent election for the chairman of the NGF and the quest of five members of the Rivers State legislature to dominate the others as illustrations of how far the PDP would go to achieve its aims even against reason.

NGF CRISIS: Between Ameachi And Jang

The presidency through Dr Gulak Ahmed has made series of denials regarding his boss non involvement in the crisis of the NGF. Unfortunately, the more Gulak denies the more the involvement of the presidency.

In reminiscence, Gov. Amaechi has taken some tough stand on some national and sensitive issues viz-a-viz fraud in the fuel subsidy payment, ceeding of oil wells to Cross River and Bayelsa states hence his travails. Gov.Amaechi voice is being heard so loudly simply because he is the chairman of the NGF and this forum is perceived as a powerful one that controls or rather dictates what is going on  in the political arena of Nigeria. NGF has a way of arm-twisting the presidency to  drive home their point.

The pressure was becoming unbearable for the presidency owing to the recalcitrant nature of Gov. Amaechi style of NGF leadership hence something has to be done. The presidency decided to make a move to stop Gov. Amaechi from getting the ticket for his second term bid as the NGF chairman hence the formation of PDP NGF paving way for the emergence of Gov. Akpabio has its chairman.

How I Carried Amaechi Into Abuja In The Night and Made Him Governor – Nyesom Wike Speaks

For Governor Chibuike Amaechi and his former boy, Minister of State for Education Nyesom Wike, the die is cast at last. It is time to bare all and go for the kill. As Wike spoke to Saturday Sun, he spared no word or effort in his vitriolic attack on his political boss who he has been in a running battle with him in the past months.

You and Amaechi had been allies, how and when did things get this bad between you?
I had wanted and avoided in the past to comment on the matter between His Excellency, Governor Chibuike Amaechi and I. I never wanted to make it a press matter. But I have held on for long to the extent that facts are now twisted out of shape.

Amaechi free to quit PDP – Presidency

The Presidency on Friday said Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, was free to resign from the Peoples Democratic Party, if he was no longer ready to respect President Goodluck Jonathan and the leadership of the party.

PDP leaders in Rivers State led by Minister of State for Education, Nyesom Wike, and a former governor of the state, Dr. Peter Odili, had met with President Goodluck Jonathan at the Presidential Villa, where they tabled the governor’s alleged offences.
At the meeting, Jonathan said disregard for party rules by public officers elected on the party’s platform should not be tolerated.

The governor is currently under suspension for alleged disobedience of the Rivers State PDP’s directive to reinstate the chairman and executive of Obio/Akpor Local Government. He was also suspended for running for a second term as chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum, against the party’s directive.

Gov. Amaechi Update: Odili Joins Jonathan To Fight Amaechi

It is clear that the BIG enemy that PDP wants to bring down at all cost is Governor Rotimi Amaechi.
But one man that observed is now part of the anti-Amaechi group of “hungry” politicians is Peter Odili, who lost his bid to become Nigeria’s President and also lost out in the battle of who to be made Vice President to late President Umaru Yar’Adua.
Odili is back! This time he is joining President Goodluck Jonathan to fight Amaech. But since he had once claimed to have reconciled with Amaechi many would have thought that he would at least remain neutral in the unfolding political battle between Rivers State and Abuja politicians.

Why Governor Amaechi Was Stopped By Jonathan's Bodyguard From Greeting Him

The Presidency on Thursday defended the prevention of Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State from exchanging pleasantries with President Goodluck Jonathan by a security operative during dinner at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Wednesday.
It said the  incident was purely a security issue that should not be politicised, especially by opposition political parties.
The governor, who was sitting two tables away from the President, had risen to greet him but the security  operative attached to the President stopped him halfway.
In order not to create a scene at the event that had nearly all his colleagues and two  heads of government (Joyce Banda of Malawi and Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf of Liberia) in attendance, Amaechi quietly returned to his seat and waited for  about five minutes before leaving the venue.

Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State has said he is not interested in 2015 presidency.

Amaechi, who spoke with our correspondent on the telephone on Friday, said those behind the posters thought that his colleagues would be angry before the NGF election and think that he wanted to use the office for selfish reasons.

Governors Forum Election Was Credible, Amaechi Won It - Okorocha

Amaechi VS Goodluck - It’s fight to the finish, says Amaechi

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, yesterday wielded the big stick on the embattled Rivers State Governor and Chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum, NGF, Rotimi Amaechi, by suspending him from the party.
The National Working Committee, NWC, of the party hinged his suspension on anti-party activities. But Amaechi has vowed to fight his suspension to the finish. “I will not leave the PDP. I will go to court.
The aircraft issue is same politics, pure politics. For one year plus, a minister refuses to sign import permit. I’m sure you are aware of the House of Representatives’ Committee report on the plane issue. “I want to say the way these people at the federal level are acting, they may come for my life. So, when you pray, please pray for me,” he said. He said there was nothing wrong for a governor to ask for his right, “which the PDP is now describing as anti-party.”

“Amaechi and his commissioners can go back to slavery and continue to serve the northerners, who claim to be born to rule. We will never go back to slavery. We know the quality of those who are commissioners in Rivers State.

Amaechi: Impeachment Plot Thickens

The political war between President Goodluck Jonathan and Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State gets worse by the day. Analysts observing the drama came out with the scenario of a pincer attack on the Governor.

On the first flank is what they see as an attempt to create anarchy, capable of leading to the declaration of a state of emergency and, finally, Amaechi’s removal. Political pundits also see a plot to cast him in the mould of a less-than-upright political figure, a state of affairs that may make him the subject of probe and possible impeachment by a state House of Assembly that would have been drained of his loyalists.
