APC calls plot to force Amaechi to resign ”last desperate act”

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has condemned the reported plot to abduct, blackmail and force Gov. Chibuike Amaechi of Rivers to resign from office, calling it the last desperate act of those who are bent on getting rid of the Governor at all costs.

In a statement issued in Lagos on Sunday by its Interim National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said that the plot, which was exposed by the Rivers Peoples Forum, should be taken very seriously, against the background of a similar occurrence in the past and the outcry by Gov. Amaechi that his life is in danger.

Amaechi: Impeachment Plot Thickens

The political war between President Goodluck Jonathan and Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State gets worse by the day. Analysts observing the drama came out with the scenario of a pincer attack on the Governor.

On the first flank is what they see as an attempt to create anarchy, capable of leading to the declaration of a state of emergency and, finally, Amaechi’s removal. Political pundits also see a plot to cast him in the mould of a less-than-upright political figure, a state of affairs that may make him the subject of probe and possible impeachment by a state House of Assembly that would have been drained of his loyalists.

ACN accuses Presidency of plot to rig 2015 polls

Nigeria’s leading opposition party, the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, yesterday raised the alarm about plots to destabilise the electoral system ahead of the 2015 elections.
The ACN accused the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, of embarking on a clandestine move because it has “now realised that if indeed the 2015 elections are free and fair there will be no chance for the party.”
But, the Presidency described as false the allegation by the ACN.
On its part, the PDP said it has uncovered plans by undemocratic elements to use the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and the judiciary to discredit its leadership and destabilise the party.

Nigerian Police Arrest ’Ghost’ In Kano

The Kano State Police Command, yesterday, announced the arrest of a ‘ghost’ that engages in extorting money from the members of the public by imposing fear in them via telephone calls. Briefing journalists at the Bompai headquarters of the command, the Kano State Police Commissioner, Mr. Ibrahim K. Idris, explained that the ‘Ghost’ turned out to be one Alhaji Nura Hamza, a resident of Kurna Asabe Quarters in the state. Idris explained that the suspect had taken advantage of the fear imposed in his victims by his status as a ‘ghost’ to cause them to source money and deposit same in a nearby bush, on an anthill, for spiritual purposes.
