Tinubu will relegate Yorubas to the ground with his greed.

Seyi Etaje wrote:
"After Ekiti elections I just started seeing Yorubas as very malicious people. Kilode. The abuse people from Ondo got is not as bad as what the people from Ekiti are getting. Contrary to what people are saying. It is not rice that made them change. It wasn't even Fayemi that was the problem. Fayemi is a good man in a wrong party. Apc lost their bearing a long time ago. Thanks to Tinubu. He has made nonsense of awolowos policies. Installing people here and there. Joining Gambari and the worst of all denying south west the number four position in Nigeria. what kind of bad belle politics is that. Then the southwest started shouting that they are marginalised. Who caused it? I loved Tinubu so much before. In my house I would argue with my dad who is biased because Jonathan is from south- south like him.

Happy Birthday To Nobel Laureate Professor Wole Soyinka Who Clocks 80years Today.

Eightieth birthday is a special occasion and ideal opportunity to tell Wole Soyinka the first African to receive the Nobel Prize in Literature, how much he means to us.

When people think of Wole Soyinka, it’s probably as the author of the powerful autobiographical work, The Man Died (1971), a collection of notes from prison.  But more than that, W.S. as fondly known in literary circles, is identified around the world as the recusant specialist who refused to submit to madmen that run and ruin Nigeria since independence in 1960. The rest of the story need not delay us.

'The national anthem is very bland and uninspiring' - See Etcetera's Article.

Etcetera now doesn't think our national anthem is inspiring enough. Find his views below...

After hearing of the proposal of some delegates at the ongoing confab that we should revert to the old national anthem, I sat by my piano and played both anthems. Playing and singing to the current anthem “Arise O’ Compatriot” was basically easy because I had done that countless times and I wasn’t even looking at the piano keys as I sang through the verses.

I downloaded the lyrics of the old anthem just to be sure I was singing the right words. I know the tune by heart because my dad frequently sang it to me when I was a little school boy. And I felt nothing as usual singing it. But right from the first line of the old anthem “Nigeria We Hail Thee,” I felt a strange sense of pride and patriotism. I felt very strange because like every Nigerian, I am saddened that as a country, we have lost our way.

Lessons from Edo teacher’s literacy drama

GOVERNOR Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State and his primary school teachers recently offered the country a classic evidence of the collapse of the foundation of education in an astounding literacy drama. A female primary school teacher for 20 years was unable to read her age declaration affidavit. Even when the governor prodded her by reading the text and asked her to repeat after him, she stuttered. The drama lasted for about five minutes. This is most shameful. It is a serious indictment of the training, recruitment, and supervision of teachers in our primary education system.

Reps ask CBN to stop trading in naira

The House of Representatives on Thursday blamed the growing trading in new naira notes on members of staff of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
In a resolution in Abuja, the House alleged that there was a cartel made up of bank workers, who exchange the new naira notes for gratifications and later resell them to members of the public.

The lawmakers accused the cartel of ensuring that new notes were not in circulation, a factor that explained the mutilated notes in the economy.
The House directed the CBN to stop the “bribe for new naira notes” by investigating the cartel and punishing the members of staff involved.

That matter of a detained ex-president

France’s Nicolas Sarkozy is in trouble. It’s because the French police detained the immediate past president days back. Those law enforcers said he had questions to answer about allegations of corruption. This isn’t the first time a former French president would answer questions about corruption. But that of Sarkozy is of special interest; a rare fish caught in a net is ever a spectacle, anyway. And note that nailing an ex-president can be an arduous task, even in nations which carefully project that they apply rule of law across board.
