In a two-hour chat with Vanguard’s senior editors on his book, ‘The Tragedy of Victory, On-the-spot Account of the Nigeria-Biafra War in the Atlantic Theatre,’  the civil war hero made startling comments that are bound to raise dust and generate controversy in the polity. For instance, he said the Northern and Eastern Nigeria have jointly been ruling the country since independence in 1960 and Nigeria has not known peace; there was no pogrom against the Igbo during the war; Biafra would not have lost the war if her military leaders had been tactically disciplined and prosecuted the war professionally; and that Nigeria neglects her heroes and heroines.

Secondary School Principal Found Dead In A Gutter



The principal of Ijokodo Junior Secondary School 1, Ibadan, Oyo State Mr Segun Dare, was on Wednesday, found dead along the street to his home at Citaga area, Sango-Eleyele road, face down in a gutter, with his mobile handset in his pocket and a polythene bag containing soup ingredients.
It was gathered that the deceased left his home in the afternoon of Tuesday, September 3, to go to a first generation bank along Sango-Eleyele road but could not do what he intended doing there as he got there late and he reportedly called his wife and told her that he did not achieve his objective, informing her that he was returning home immediately.

Iranian politician, "Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’ says Obama’s daughter to be kidnapped if US strike Syria





Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s strategist Alireza Forghani published statements in his blog warning of mass abduction and brutal killings of American citizens worldwide in the event US launches a military strike in Syria.

Forghani, the former governor of southern Iran’s Kish Province, came up with the threat and vowed to back Bashar al-Assad’s regime to the hilt, reports The Daily Caller.
“Hopefully Obama will be pigheaded enough to attack Syria, and then we will see the … loss of US interests,” he threatened.

Nigeria’s GDP rose by 6.18 per cent in Q2 -NBS



The National Bureau of Statistics, on Friday, released the country’s Gross Domestic Product for the second quarter of 2013. It stated that on an aggregate basis, the economy grew by 6.18 per cent.

Tukur faction asks court to stop Baraje group



The Alhaji Bamanga Tukur faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, on Friday, asked an Abuja Federal High Court to restrain the Abubakar Baraje faction from parading itself as the national executive of the party.
The Tukur faction filed the application through its lawyer, Tochukwu Onwugbufor, SAN.
The plaintiffs included Tukur and the PDP national officers elected at the party’s August 31, 2013, national convention at the Eagle Square, in Abuja.

26-year-old Abuja Actress Jailed for Stealing IPad, IPhone and jewellery




A 26-year-old actress Nancy Ndukwe of Jikwoyi, Abuja, was sentenced by Abuja Senior Magistrates’ Court on September 6, 2013, Friday. She was convicted for two months of imprisonment for stealing an IPad, IPhone and jewellery.

Cpl. Paul Anigbo, on the side of the prosecution, told the court that the matter was reported at the Lugbe Police Station by one Faith Njoku of Kapuwa Village, Lugbe, Abuja on September 2.

The prosecutor told the court that Nancy Ndukwe visited her friend Njoku on the above-mentioned date and stole her IPad, IPhone and jewellery, all valued at N190,000.

George Zimmerman's wife heads to court for divorce



Less than months after he was acquitted of murdering Trayvon Martin, George Zimmerman's wife has filed for divorce. 26 year old Shellie Zimmerman filed for divorce just yesterday, a week after she pleaded guilty to a perjury charge for lying during a bail hearing following her husband's arrest in Feb 2012. She lied about the couple's assets when her husband was trying to be released on a lower bond. Shelley was sentenced to a year's probation and 100 hours of community service.

At the cost of a couple of hundred Syrian lives, which in reality mean nothing for the Americans and their Al-Qaeda elements in Syria, the US has perhaps yet failed to launch another act of aggression and commit another crime against peace, but it has succeeded in accomplishing several other objectives.
