Leader of Rivers House of Assembly, Hon Chidi Llyod, was on Wednesday arraigned before Justice L. L Nyordee of the Port-Harcourt high court. He was brought amidst a very tight security mounted by the anti-riot policemen drawn from the Rivers State Police Command.
Llyod was unable to walk on his own but was aided by two security men into the court.

He is facing a six-count charge of conspiracy to murder and assault, attempted murder and malicious damage arising from the fracas in the House of Assembly on 9 July.  His arraignment provoked a heated argument between Worgu Boms, Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice and Chika Dewingwe, SAN, representing the Nigeria Police.

The second journey to Police Stations in Nigeria: 
A stern looking and gun-totting policeman mounting guard at the entrance of the police station yelled, "Who are you looking for?"

“The Divisional Police Officer,” this Punch correspondent replied.

After being informed the DPO was not around, the visitor requested to see the divisional crime officer.
While being led into the arrival room of the police station, which is popularly called the charge room, he was welcomed by three photographs hanging on the walls, directly opposite the entrance of the station.

Nigerian Man Dies In UK Three Weeks After Assault

A 47-year-old Nigerian man, who is believed to have been assaulted in E5 on Wednesday 10 July has now died. Shortly before 16.10hrs on that day, police came across an injured man on the pavement in Upper Clapton Road, Rossington Street, E5.

Officers attended to the man, who had suffered a serious head wound following a suspected assault. The London Ambulance Service also attended and the man was taken to the Royal London Hospital in a critical condition. His condition deteriorated and he died on Sunday 28 July at 20:00hrs. He has been named as Bakre Yesufu, 47 of Rossington Street, E5.

£3,000 UK Visa Bond: We Will Retaliate –Federal Govt Insists

The Federal Government of Nigeria on Tuesday insisted on retaliatory action against British citizens if their government went ahead with its plan to impose a £3,000 visa bond on visitors from Nigeria and five other Commonwealth countries.

“If and when a communication to that effect is received, the Federal Government will take appropriate steps to reflect its national interest. ”

Governor expressed displeasure that the UK authorities, which already set November as the discriminatory policy’s commencement time, had not formally communicate to it on the next step of action.

Residents of Akure town in Ondo State recently heaved a sigh of relief after the Anti-Robbery Squad of the Ondo State Police Command arrested several armed robbery suspects who had been snatching vehicles and dispossessing their victims of other valuables.  Among the suspects currently undergoing interrogation at the SARS office are Tobechukwu Aguonu a.k.a. Alhaji Seriki Thunder and Uche Igwe. A trainer at an animal farm in Thailand has been bitten on the head by a crocodile during a show. Shocking video has captured the moment a trainer at a crocodile farm in Thailand was bitten on the head by one of the giant reptiles. Pravit Suebmee, 27, was performing for a group of tourists when he put his head in a crocodile's mouth on Sunday morning. The beast quickly clamped his jaws on Mr Pravit's head, leaving bite wounds on his face and neck. Despite the attack Mr Pravit was not seriously injured. "This is the first time this has happened at our crocodile farm," owner Uthen Youngprapakorn said. "I've regularly warned the performers to be careful at all times." Mr Uthen said the crocodile was probably startled when Mr Pravit slipped, causing it to snap its jaws shut. The video shows the crocodile thrash Mr Pravit back and forth for a moment before another handler pulls it by the tail, allowing the trainer to be released.

Why We Deported 67 Citizens from Lagos State - Fashola's Aide

In reaction to the alleged criticisms of Lagos State deportation of no fewer than 67 Nigerian citizens from the state to Onitsha, Anambra State, the Lagos State Government has responded to saying the exercise was continuous as it started the practice of expelling beggars and destitutes rescued from the streets back to their states of origin in a bid to rid the streets of beggars and the mentally-challenged.

The Special Adviser to Governor Fashola on Youths and Social Development, Dr. Enitan Dolapo Badru, revealed to newsmen that so far, at least 1,708 beggars and destitutes had been expelled from Lagos just as he noted that normal international standard requires the state to reunite them with their families.

Jonathan's Convoy In Nasarawa Auto Crash, 14 Injured

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Umar Shehu, has on Tuesday confirmed that the convoy of President Goodluck Jonathan was involved in an auto crash the day before, leaving 14 persons injured.

According to the eyewitnesses, three confessional policemen, three mobile policemen, one member of the civil defence corps, as well as one official of the state branch of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and six civilians were "seriously injured".

The young man in the ditch is a thief, who was caught this morning in Shell road, Sapele, Delta state.According to an eyewitness, the thief (name unknown) had snatched a woman's handbag in another part of town, Ugbeyi Sapele and sped off on his motorcycle. 

The poor woman couldn't raise an alarm, but fortunately a soldier who saw her bag get snatched quickly borrowed someone's Hilux and gave the thief a hot chase. 
Somehow, the thief got away.
