Fifth drone strike in less than two weeks in Yemen - Report

A US drone strike killed seven suspected Al-Qaeda militants in Yemen. The operation followed the official announcement of Yemeni officials that Al Qaeda plans to seize two major oil and gas export terminals and a provincial capital. Arab nations remain on high alert following threats of a terror attack, which prompted Washington to shut down 19 diplomatic facilities in the Middle East and North Africa. It was the fifth drone strike in less than two weeks in Yemen, where Al-Qaeda is rapidly gaining power. The Voice of Russia discussed the revival of US drone program and the current terrorist threat in the region with Sama'a Al-Hamdani, a Yemeni political analyst.

What prompted the revival of the drone program in Yemen?

All we know is that the attack was picked up by the US and that a state of alarm happened in the country and then all over sudden we had 3 drone strikes 3 days in a row. Today is Eid. Many families are celebrating. The last thing they want to think about is “are we going to be droned tonight”. The problem is the Yemeni government is not really talking to the people and we are not sure what is going on.
