Chibok Visit: In Defense of President Jonathan

On Wednesday 6th of April 1994, around 8:30pm the Presidential Jet conveying President Juvenal Habyarimana of Rwanda touched the country's airspace after a trip from Tanzania.

Few minutes before landing, the Jet was shot down by a radical terror group. The President and all his entourage died instantly thus marking the beginning of the Rwanda genocide. The President was from the 'Hutu' tribe and the assassination was believed to have been carried out by 'Tutsis' the other tribe in the country and before one could say Jack, all hell was let loose. In 100days of vengeance over one million Tutsis were slaughtered in cold blood not with guns but Machetes, Clubs and Knives. Husbands killed wives, Pastors betrayed Church members who had run to them for sanctuary. For months the reign of bloodbath continued without recess.

"I'll visit Chibok but does that solve the problem?" - Pres. Jonathan Question of the day

At a press conference for the Regional Security Summit that held in France today, President Jonathan explained why he hasn't visited the Chibok community, the school or parents of the missing girls...
"The school is owned by the State Government but it is the commitment of the Federal government to rebuild the school, build walls to protect it and provide facilities since it is predominantly a school that takes care of girls education so that the girls would be protected. Yes I will visit Chibok, no doubt about that but what we are anxious about now is to locate the girls. These girls are not held in Chibok. If the President goes to Chibok today, does that solve any problem? Maybe psychological problem or for media relevance but you have not solved the problem. The problem facing the President and indeed the Nigerian government is to get these girls from wherever they are" he said

France, UK, US provide support to Syrian terrorists - Syria's deputy FM

Faisal Mekdad, deputy Foreign Minister of Syria, believes that France, US and UK provide support to the terrorists operating on Syrian territory, Lebanese media reported on Saturday. He said that these countries seek to thwart the reforms aimed at promoting democracy, human rights and creating a rule-of-law state in Syria.

Furthermore, he said that Israel seeks to undermine the presidential elections in Syria scheduled on June 3. "We were baffled by arbitrary actions and open interventions by countries that claim to be democratic but in fact have no idea of the meaning of democracy," Mekdad said.

What is going on in Ukraine could be identified as war crimes

The UN report on Ukrainian crisis released Friday would not go into the killings of civilians by junta's "elite" National Guard. Moreover, it has never even mentioned something like "war crimes" against civilian population. So, is mass killing of civilians by armed units a war crime? What is a war crime? And how do you qualify what's going on in Ukraine now? The Voice of Russia discusses this issue with a lawyer and political analyst Dr. Alexey Binetsky.
