INEC 2015 elections time table: Presidential election set to hold on lovers day, Feb 14th.



The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has announced February 14 2015 as the date for Nigeria's presidential election in addition to those for the members of the National Assembly.

Governorship and State House of Assembly elections are scheduled for February 28, 2015.

This is within statement released yesterday evening & signed by the Commission's secretary, Augusta Ogakwu. The commission also announced that the Ekiti State governorship election will hold on June 21, 2014 while that of Osun State will hold on August 9, 2014. Cultists Hold 'Safety Summit'To Battle Against Crimes



Some school-based cult groups in Edo State have come together in a alliance contrary to the spate of kidnappings, armed robberies and other violent crimes in the state.
The cult members, belonging to numerous fraternities in colleges across their state converged at the Mud Beach Resorts, Benin, on Saturday for a summit branded “Fun Peace Summit: Technique for Cultural Cohesion.”

2015 Elections May Hold In January – Prof Attahiru Jega



If given approval by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the 2015 general elections will take place either in January or February of that year.

Chairman, INEC, Prof Attahiru Jega, dropped this hint at a two-day international workshop on “Ethics and Elections: Challenges and Institutional Responses” organised by the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Foundation in Abuja.

US Congress to hold hearing on B’Haram, terrorism



The United States Congress will next week hold a public hearing on the militant Islamic sect, Boko Haram.

The leader of American Congress Committee on African Affairs, Mr. Chris Smith, said this in Abuja on Tuesday during a meeting with the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor.

Nse Ikpe Etim's traditional wedding to hold April 4th



Actress Nse Ikpe Etim's traditional and white wedding will hold this April. Her traditional wedding will hold at St. Stephen’s Primary School, Ikot Etobo, Nsit-Ubium LGA, Akwa Ibom (Thee bride's hometown) on Thursday April 4th. The white wedding will hold in Lagos a few days later but details of that is not yet available.
Nse married her childhood sweetheart Clifford Sule at a registry wedding which held on Thursday February 14th.

SHORT OF WORDS: 50% Of Students In Kaduna Hold Classes Under Trees - Official



About 50 per cent of primary and secondary schools students in Kaduna State take their classes under trees and other open spaces, a senior official with the state ministry of education has disclosed.
According to the officer who did not want his name in print, an assessment carried out by a non governmental organisation shows that 32.0 per cent of primary schools pupils in Kaduna State have their classes in the open air.

Friends hold candle-light procession for slain doctor



Friends of Dr. Irawo Adamolekun, who was killed in Lagos traffic on Friday by a gunman on motorcycle, held a candle-light procession for him on Wednesday.  The walk held simultaneously in Lagos and Abuja and lasted for almost two hours. The Lagos procession began from Military Hospital, Awolowo Road, to Falomo while the one in Abuja was held in Wuse.  Adamolekun’s former classmates and co-workers attended the Lagos procession.
His friends were clad in black t-shirts with the inscription, “Irawo Isaac Adamolekun, 1986-2012, Rest in Peace our shining star.’ They sang hymns and songs of praise, describing him as a sociable and forgiving soul.
