Cultists Hold 'Safety Summit'To Battle Against Crimes

Some school-based cult groups in Edo State have come together in a alliance contrary to the spate of kidnappings, armed robberies and other violent crimes in the state.
The cult members, belonging to numerous fraternities in colleges across their state converged at the Mud Beach Resorts, Benin, on Saturday for a summit branded “Fun Peace Summit: Technique for Cultural Cohesion.”

At the summit, the groups, which came together under the aegis of Rainbow Consolidated Community said they were not satisfied with the spate of violent crimes and insecurity in their state and vowed to battle the situation.

Some of the fraternities at the summit included the Natural Circuit (a.k.a Maphites), Norsemen (aka Vikings), Black Guitar, Eiye Confraternity, Family Fraternity of Nigeria and Avarian Firm of Nigeria.
Governor Adam Oshiomhole, Oba of Benin, the Edo State Commissioner of Police, the State Security Service, and the Commandant of the National Security and Civil Defence Corps sent associates to the summit of the cultists.

While acknowledging the damage already done by the activities of the cult groups in their state, the chairman of the Rainbow Consolidated Community, Donald Edeoghon, said he anticipated that their coming together to battle armed robbers, kidnappers and perpetrators of other violent crimes in Edo would produce good results.

He said, “In the event that you recall, for around 2 full decades, inter-group situations which often resulted in violent and dangerous disaster were the characteristics of Edo State communities. Innocent lives, homes of inestimable price are taken and destroyed on a whim. Armed robbery, kidnapping, thuggery and sundry social vices rose to unprecedented levels; it turned dangerous to stay and function legitimately in Edo State, and, in particular, Benin City.”

“Various efforts were made by numerous groups to check that disturbing trend. Some were truthful while others were not. They  were unsuccessful because their target was eradicating inter-group situations, although situations are integrated part of most human societies. The problem seemed poor, however came the platform of Rainbow Consolidated Community with a template for many seasons.”
