15 suspected cultists arrested in Edo




The Edo State Police Command has arrested two 13-year-old boys and 13 others for allegedly belonging to secret cult groups and engaging in suspected cult activities. PUNCH Metro gathered that the 15 male suspects were apprehended on separate occasions and locations in the state. According to the Command, eight of the suspects, all of whom were teenagers, were nabbed in Unewa, Uromi, in Esan North East local government area of the state on August 8 for belonging to a secret cult group known as ‘Hallah of the Night’, while a battle axe was recovered, after “they confessed to be members of the cult group.”

Governor Okorocha gives shoot-at-sight order in cultists local government in Imo state




In a bid to fight the increasing spate of cult activities in the state, the Imo state Governor, Rochas Okorocha yesterday, July 25th gave a shoot-at-sight order for cultists to security operatives attached to Ohaji Egbema LGA where 6 persons were killed in a clash between two rival cult groups referred to as Day-Gbam and Day-Well. 

The governor gave the directive when he paid a trip to the troubled local government area, plagued with cult activities, where residents are reported to be residing in constant fear.

Suspected Cultists Shot College Student Dead In Epe, Lagos



Some suspected cult members have killed a final year student of the Michael Otedola College of Education Epe, Lagos, Egwedo Josiah.

The cultists, said to belong to the Eiye Confraternity, reportedly shot the 24-year-old while he was returning to his hostel after buying a pack of noodles.

Our correspondent learnt that the Delta State indigene was killed for allegedly abusing the leader of the gang sometime ago.

Cultists Hold 'Safety Summit'To Battle Against Crimes



Some school-based cult groups in Edo State have come together in a alliance contrary to the spate of kidnappings, armed robberies and other violent crimes in the state.
The cult members, belonging to numerous fraternities in colleges across their state converged at the Mud Beach Resorts, Benin, on Saturday for a summit branded “Fun Peace Summit: Technique for Cultural Cohesion.”

Cultists kill NURTW secretary in Lagos



Some suspected cult members, belonging to Black Axe have killed the Financial Secretary of the National Union of Road Transports Workers in Mushin.  PUNCH Metro learnt that the deceased, Taiye Monsuru, aka Sempe, was killed shortly after leaving his base at the old tollgate, Mushin on Friday.
A close friend of the deceased, who craved anonymity, said, “Taiye left his base at the old tollgate Mushin, where he  is the financial secretary of a unit. At about 9:30pm he left the toll gate at Mushin railway line on a motorcycle and headed for his home at 45 Adegboyega Street, Ilupeju.
“On getting to the junction of his house, he dismounted from the bike and about 10 men, who had been lurking around, accosted him and shot him repeatedly. After making sure he was dead, they all disappeared.”
According to the source, some cult members had called him on his telephone a day before the incident and had threatened to kill him for waging a war against Aye members.

Cultists Stab 19-Year-Old Father To Death



Suspected cult members killed a 19-year-old boy, Obunneke Osondu, in Pedro, Bariga area of Lagos State.
PUNCH Metro learnt that Obunneke was killed on Saturday by members of Eiye Confraternity, two hours after leaving his home in Ayinke Street. The native of Owerri was said to have had an altercation with the assailants who accused him of being friends with members of a rival cult, Aiye Confraternity.
A resident, who spoke to our correspondent on the condition of anonymity, said, “Obunneke left his home around 8pm to take some bottles of beer at a nearby hotel.

“When he entered the bar, he met some members of Eiye Confraternity who asked him for money. His refusal to give them money infuriated them and they accused him of being an Aiye apologist.
“The boys, later identified as Bonjeu , Arinze , Ahmed, Feso, Ayo and Akilapa, who were all in the hotel bar, then stabbed Obunneke many times as he ran away from the hotel.

2 policemen dead as cultists wreak havoc in Lagos



Two policemen have been reported killed and many others injured in Ikorodu, Lagos state after unknown members of a cult group were said to have attacked people in the Imowo-nla community area.
According to reports, many of the over 15,000 residents of the community have now deserted their homes. Shops have been closed and businesses abandoned following the attack by the cult group which has been on-going since on Tuesday May 21, 2013.
There are also reports of rape and kidnapping of female residents but the police or even the community chief are yet to address the matter.
A resident named Taiwo Esuforuwa, told Channels Television that two policemen were killed by the cultists and many of the residents had also been attacked by the cultists who usually start terrorising people at night.

Four Killed As Cultists Invade Alaba Market, Lagos



There was pandemonium at the popular Alaba International Market yesterday as four people were killed by gunmen, who invaded the market.

The deceased were suspected cult members, who were caught unawares by a rival gang that invaded the market around 4.30pm yesterday.
The incident, which occurred around Fancy and Furniture Section of the market, shook parts of the market to its foundation as sounds of gunshot rented the air.
Traders and buyers at the market scampered for safety as many shop owners hurriedly closed their shops for fear of being attacked by the cult members.

JUST IN: Damino Damoche's Mysterious Death caused by Raged Cultists



The post Rising Singer Damino Damoche Shot Dead appeared yesterday around 5.00 p.m, as he was shot at the Iba Gate of Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, by people suspected to be cultists. Though, it is not clear why he was shot, sources say his assailants who operated on a motor bike opened fire on him several times before he gave up the ghost.
Olaniyan Damilola, popular known as Damino Damoche was killed for no reason, and it has been gathered that he was shot in the head twice, after he finished writing a test at the Faculty of Management Science of the institution.
The hip hop artiste, who broke to limelight mid-2011, was, until his death, a 400-level Banking and Finance student at LASU.
