Person, 21, burns himself to death in Taraba after disagreement with dad



A 21-year-old man, Mansur Tanko, on Friday, burnt himself to death in Jalingo, after a disagreement with his father, Tanko Mijinyawa, over marriage.

The Taraba Police Public Relations Officer, Joseph Kwaji, confirmed the incident and said the Jalingo Division of the police had commenced investigation into the matter.

Tanko, according to a witness, Jibrin Bala, set himself ablaze because his family refused to approve his wedding with a girl, Blessing. The witness told sympathisers that Tanko introduced Blessing to his father as his proposed wife, but the father kicked against the union, describing it as a bad choice.

21-Year-Old Student Dumps New Born In Pit Latrine




Residents of Manchok in Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Sunday recovered a baby from a pit latrine where its mother had dumped it. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the residents, who were attracted by the cry of the baby, had to break the latrine to remove the baby girl allegedly delivered by a 21-year-old student. The suspected mother, an unmarried secondary school student, allegedly induced the delivery of her seven-month-old pregnancy and threw it away. The suspect, however, ran out of luck when one Miss Rifkatu John, who runs a beer parlour, went to use the latrine and heard the cry of the baby.

Austin Ndife, 21, Nigerian footballer dies of cardiac arrest abroad





Another Nigerian football player reportedly died of cardiac arrest in Nepal on Monday. The player identified as Austin Ndife, 21, was said to be in Nepal on trials and is yet to sign for any club. Reports say he had a heart problem for two weeks before he died while on admission at the Shahid Gangalal National Heart Centre, Bansbari.

21 Ex-Militant Return After Completing Non-Violence Training In South Africa





Twenty-one leaders of former agitators in the Niger-Delta region on Tuesday returned from South Africa after completing a non-violence and leadership and business development training. The leaders returned aboard a South African Airways flight, along with the Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta  and Chairman, Presidential Amnesty Programme, Mr Kingsley Kuku.
