Corazon Kwamboka is the newest Kenyan socialite in town heavily endowed and doesn't shy to make suggestive poses. She is really a lawyer, having graduated last year from the University of Nairobi. If I ever got into trouble, she is going to be my Lawyer.

A local television station in Nigeria captures the moment a second bomb ripped through a bustling bus terminal and market frequented by thousands of people in Nigeria’s central city of Jos. At least 118 people were killed and dozens more injured when two car bombs exploded at a busy bus terminal and market in Nigeria’s central city of Jos on Tuesday. The second blast, which was captured on camera by a local television station, came half an hour after the first, killing some of the rescue workers who had rushed to the scene. Huge plumes of black smoke could be seen rising from the fires that, according to emergency crews, were still burning some eight hours later. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attacks.

FBI mulling recruitment of 'hackers on cannabis' to battle cybercrime



Despite the fact that FBI current policy prohibits anyone working for it who has used cannabis in the past three years, the organization's director James Comey has acknowledged that this is complicating its efforts to recruit hacking experts, according to The Wall Street Journal.

"I have to hire a great workforce to compete with those cybercriminals, and some of those kids want to smoke weed on the way to the interview," he said at the White Collar Crime Institute's annual meeting.

Nigerian military sights abducted schoolgirls in 3 Boko Haram camps

Nigeria’s Special Forces from the Army’s 7th Division have sighted and narrowed the search for the more than 250 abducted Chibok schoolgirls to three camps operated by the extremist Boko Haram sect north of Kukawa at the western corridors of the Lake Chad, senior military and administration officials have said.

“It has been a most difficult but heroic breakthrough,” one senior military official said in Abuja.

That claim was supported by another senior commander from the Army’s 7th Division, the military formation created to deal with the insurgency in the Northeast. The 7th Division is headquartered in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

Two Boys nabbed for Putting Poison in Teacher's Water Bottle



Both boys, ages 9 and 12, allegedly poisoned the teacher's water Monday afternoon, causing her to feel nauseated the following day. She was treated by her doctor and is now in good shape, said Sgt. John Buthorn of the New York City Police Department.
The poison is being tested in a lab to determine its content, nonetheless it seems to be rat poison, police said.

In line with the NYPD, both boys have already been charged with attempted second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and criminal possession of a weapon.

Nigerian Army starts recruitment of Volunteer Army Personnel



According to a report by Channels TV, the Nigerian army has announced the recruitment of volunteer soldiers that will assist in the search for the missing Chibok girls as well as help in the fight against Boko Haram insurgence. In a press briefing today, the Director of Public Affairs said the recruitment exercise will end on June 21st and is ready to accept only able bodied persons.

17 feared killed as Boko Haram invades Alagarno Village, Borno, 20 mins away from Chibok



In a report from a foreign media, Boko Haram members last night May 20th launched a new attack at Alagarno village in Borno State killing at least 17 people. Village sources say nearly all the buildings in the village were also razed.

Borno State governor, Kashim Shettima, yesterday announced that the state government would be spending N150million for the rehabilitation of the 53 chibok girls that escaped from Boko Haram captivity as well as their parents whose source of livelihood was affected by the abduction, Sahara Reporters reports.
The Governor made this announcement when he received the Presidential Fact Finding Committee on the missing girls in his office yesterday. Gov Shettima decried the notion by some people that the missing Chibok girls was a scam or that it was a staged attempt by the state government to stop emergency rule extension in the state. El-Rufai sues PDP, Olisa Metuh, Thisday for N1.5billion



 Former FCT Minister and Deputy National Secretary to All Progressive Congress, APC, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, has instituted a N1.5billion libel suit against the PDP, its National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Olisa Metuh and ThisDay newspaper before a High Court in Abuja over statements he said were authorized by Metuh on behalf of the PDP linking him to the Boko Haram insurgency, which he finds defamatory.

 El Rufai said the defamatory statements were published in Thisday newspaper which he joined in the suit as third defendant.

Mallam El-Rufai said that in a separate Thisday newspaper publications of March 17 and March 28, Metuh claimed that he (El-Rufai) collected N5billion as consultancy fee from the suspended governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Lamido Sanusi and also in another publication said that himself and Gen. The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a suspected mad man if you are in possession of arms and ammunition. The man was arrested on Saturday by some vigilant residents of Gowon Estate in the Ipaja area of Lagos.
“The people were curious about what he was dumping. Upon closer examination, it was discovered that the mad man emptied one locally-made double-barrel pistol and four live cartridges into the dust bin.
“The youths in the community claimed they have been seeing him around the area as a mad man. He was immediately handed over to the police at Gowon Estate but under interrogation, he was not coherent in his speech.
“He was later transferred to the State CID, Panti, Yaba, for further investigation."

118 confirmed dead from Jos Bomb blast today, there may be more - NEMA



According to a report by AFP, the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA told them that 118 people have already been confirmed dead from today's bomb blast in Jos, with several others still underneath the debris 
"The exact figure of the dead bodies recovered as of now is 118 and more bodies may be in the debris of buildings which collapsed due to the intensity of the blasts.” Mohammed Abdulsalam told AFP. He also revealed that 56 people were injured in the twin blasts.

US Claims Boko Haram is Not a Branch of al-Qaeda



The United States Government has disclosed that the Islamic sect, Boko Haram was not affiliated to the global terrorist organisation, al-Qaeda.

This is coming following a declaration by President Goodluck Jonathan during the France security summit on the menace of the insurgent group on Saturday, that the Boko Haram sect, was the “al Qaeda of West Africa.”

However, the US said the Boko Haram sect has no link with al-Qaeda.

OAU Students Block Ife-Abuja Highway to Protest Fee Hike by 267 %,322%, 253% respectively



Students of the Obafemi Awolowo University  (OAU) have blocked the Ife-Abuja highway to protest against the recent fee hikes university authorities recently implemented.

Passengers on the federal highway were stranded as the students also blocked all exit and entry routes linking Osun State to other states in the country.

The university reportedly increased the fee of newly admitted students into Clinical Sciences and Pharmacy by 267 %, Humanities/Social Sciences by 322%, and increased the fee by 253% for students admitted into Sciences.

Nigeria asks UN Al Qaeda committee to blacklist Boko Haram



Nigeria has formally asked the UN Security Council al Qaeda sanctions committee to blacklist the Islamist militant group Boko Haram after the kidnapping of hundreds of schoolgirls, a UN diplomat said on Tuesday.

If there are no objections from the 15-member council committee, which operates by consensus, Boko Haram will be sanctioned at 3 pm EDT (1900 GMT) on Thursday, the diplomat said, speaking on condition of anonymity.

Very often we hear that soldiers in battle with the dreaded Islamic sect Boko Haram were killed, but we hardly get to see the fallen officers. Well, here are two of them. The officer on the left is Major Olalekan Akintola, aka Lokoso, he was one of the officers ambushed and killed by Boko Haram men last Wednesday night. The officer on the right is Lt Odushina Oluwafemi, he and his fellow soldiers were killed when their convoy was ambushed by Boko Haram after their GOC, Major General Abubakar Mohammed, made them make an unusual trip, his friends say.

Their deaths sparked a mutiny against the GOC. Y'all remember the story last week. The GOC has since been redeployed because of the incident.

Pres. Jonathan Strongly Condems Job Bomb Blasts




President Goodluck Jonathan has strongly condemned the bomb blasts in Jos, Plateau state, which led to the loss of many lives.
A statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr Reuben Abati Tuesday said the president described the perpetrators of “this tragic assault on human freedom as cruel and evil”.
According to Dr Abati, the president has directed all relevant agencies to mobilise support and relief efforts in aid of the victims.

Traditional hunters insist they are combat ready to join search for Chibok girls




Traditional hunters in a few Northern states say they are ready to join the military in the look for missing Chibok girls, Associated Press reports. According to the report, the hunters numbering about 500 and ranging between 18 to 80 years of age have been in Borno state for two weeks now waiting for the  government and the military to give them the permission to go after the missing girls. 

The hunters say their magic charms would prevent any blood being drawn from their body. In addition they expressed their belief inside their herbs wrapped in leather pouches as well as cowrie shells, animal teeth and leather bracelets, including a cocktail of fetish substances which supplies them spiritual powers that protects them from being pierced by bullets

British plane sent to search for missing school girls breaks down



A British surveillance jet which was on its way to Nigeria to help in the search for missing Chibok girls reportedly broke down in Senegal due to unspecified technical problems. UK Ministry of Defense released a statement explaining this...
"A technical fault which has delayed the Sentinel aircraft on its way to Ghana is being investigated and will be solved as soon as possible. In the meantime the UK military team continues its work on the ground while other surveillance aircraft continue the search for the missing schoolgirls," . British Prime Minister, David Cameron, announced that Britain would offer Nigeria a surveillance jet to help in the search of the missing girls.

Afenifere Threatens Secession



As the National Conference enters its plenary session Monday, the Afenifere has demanded for a regional autonomy to be granted the Yoruba in the Southwest or the Yoruba will secede from Nigeria.

The Yoruba group at a news conference to unveil the Publication of “Regional Autonomy or Nothing” at the Gani Fawehinmi Park, Ojota in Lagos, Southwest Nigeria Monday said it was displeased that many of its demands at the conference had been thrown away as the Northern group had ganged up to defeat autonomy for the regions.

Lagos Female Banker Dies With Lover at autonomous community in Imo While doing it together



A female banker and her lover died while having s3.x at Eziudo autonomous community in Ezinihitte, Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State.

Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima has replied Asari Dokubo who has in recent years alleged that the missing Chibok girls is all a scam and the handiwork of the governor. In a record by the Governor's spokesperson, Isa Gusau, Shettima described Dokubo as a jester who no serious minded Nigerian should take serious. 
"Governor Shettima is too serious minded to reply Asari Dokubo who is just a joker as most Nigerians regard him. As a onetime journalist covering the Niger Delta, I had come in direct contact with Asari when he organized a rally in support of late Gaddafi in Port Harcourt and also when he organized the 2011/2012 Isaac Boro lecture in Port Harcourt which he kept interrupting, taking over the microphone from people like respected lawyers like Festus Keyamo, intermittently speaking without protocol and without shame like a child. He is just a joke, no reasonable Nigerian takes him serious.

Police avert another bomb blast in Kano - Police Press Release




The Police in Kano today, 19th May, 2014, about 9:00am averted what could have been another devastating bomb blast in the ancient city of Kano. Kano Police operatives, acting on intelligence, tracked and recovered a Mitsubishi Station Wagon car, ash in colour, with registration number Kano – AE 756 GSW loaded with assorted gas cylinders, one container of fuel and other electrical components of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs). The vehicle was recovered at Tafawa Balewa Street, Nasarawa area of Kano State and has since been rendered safe by Police Bomb Disposal experts.

Meanwhile,
 security agencies in Kano have commenced investigation into both the aborted blast as well as the last night bomb incident. Continue.

Stealing is not corruption - ICPC Chairman, Mr. Nta




The Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) chairman, Mr. Ekpo Nta recently agreed to a statement made by President Jonathan during his May 4th media chat that, stealing is not corruption.

While addressing members of  the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, COREN, at the ICPC Headquarters' in Abuja, Mr Nta said there is a difference between stealing and corruption  and it is wrong to classify theft as corruption. He said that we should refer back to what we were taught about stealing and corruption in school
"Stealing is erroneously reported as corruption. We must go back to what we were taught at school to show that there are educated people in Nigeria. We must address issues as we were taught in school to do".

Boko Haram abducts Nigeria Police Officers



This madness is sure getting out of control. Boko Haram terrorists, at the weekend, raged in Borno State where 16 persons were feared killed in a fresh attack.

In two separate attacks, five policemen were reportedly abducted with their Armoured Personnel Carrier while a Chinese was killed and 10 others kidnapped during an overnight attack in Kuseri Village between Gamboru Ngala council of Borno State and the Cameroun border.
“Five policemen attached to Banki, a border town with Bama and Cameroon Republic, were attacked by Boko Haram. The terrorists opened fire on the APC No: NPF4960c conveying the policemen led by an inspector and five others. The policemen quickly dropped from the APC and ran into the bush before the terrorists went away with the abandoned APC. As I am talking to you now (yesterday), the whereabouts of the policemen are yet to be known and we suspect the terrorists might have kidnapped or killed them.”
