Why Security Situation Was Better During Our Time – Atiku

Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has described the current wave of insecurity in Nigeria as worse than the Nigeria Civil War, which lasted for three years.
The former Vice-President said on Friday that the situation was made worse due to President Goodluck Jonathan-led administration’s lack of attention to security of lives and property.
Atiku made this known on Friday in an interview with the Hausa Service of the British Broadcasting Corporation monitored in Kaduna.
He said, “All you see today are security men with guns, which should not be the case.”
He said the dimension of today’s security challenges makes it hard to tackle because the money meant for the purpose had been allegedly stolen.

Increasing kidnap-for-ransom incidents in Lagos

This security advisory was sent out to expatriates who work in oil companies in Lagos. But foreigners aren't the only ones being abducted in Lagos...so decided to share with everyone. See it below...
Recently in Lagos State, specifically between February 10 2013 and today, at least 10 confirmed kidnap-for-ransom incidents involving 12 victims have been recorded between Ikoyi, Victoria Island and the Lekki-Epe axis of the state. One incident occurred near Abraham Adesanya Estate on the Lekki-Epe expressway on February 10; four incidents on February 23, March 1, 21, and 25, occurred at Awoyaya area on the same route; two incidents in Lekki on March 23 -  one on the alternative route, and the other a foiled kidnap attempt along Admiralty Way; one incident on Awolowo road in Ikoyi on March 24; and two incidents involving a Briton and three Lebanese in Victoria Island on March 23 and 27 respectively. These incidents appear to be random and opportunistic but mostly happened late at night. However, high-profile incidents are usually preceded by prolonged monitoring of intended targets.

Security Agents, Not Boko Haram Behind Bombings – Uzor Kalu

Former Abia state Governor, Dr Orji Uzor Kalu, yesterday absolved Boko Haram of some of the bombings in the northern part of the country blaming it instead on government security agents.

Kalu, who spoke in Abuja when members of the FCT chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) visited him, said the security agencies do this to attract more funding from the federal allocation.

Kalu said people are aware of this but refuse to speak out for fear of being victimized even as Nigerians continue to die as a result of the activities of unpatriotic public officers.

Jonathan spoke at a town hall meeting  in Maiduguri as he concluded his working visit to Borno State which has remained in the centre of activities of members of the fundamental Islamic sect, Boko Haram, that have been responsible for bombing campaigns in the northern part of the country.

Security Guard Shoots Off Own Male Organ

You can’t say you’ve been in a more horrible position than this guy who will appear in court for carrying a gun that shot his manhood. A security guard at a hospital in Rio Claro, Trinidad and Tobago, accidentally shot his man-hood off with his .38-calibre handgun. A resident called police to report the sound of a gunshot coming from a parked car. When they arrived on the scene, police discovered the man bleeding from his groin with spent ammunition cartridges at his side. Adding insult to his injury is the fact that, according to police, the man didn’t have a license to carry the gun.

Chinese worker, five others killed, schools burnt in Maiduguri violence

A Chinese construction worker was killed on Friday in the besieged city of Maiduguri, Borno State in Nigeria’s northeast, an official said Friday, exacerbating security concerns for foreign workers in Nigeria’s violence-wracked North-East.
An overnight raid in a nearby city left 5 others dead and several schools razed to the ground, the Associated Press reports.
Gunmen shot the Chinese builder Friday morning on a main road that had been undergoing reconstruction in the city of Maiduguri, said the Borno State Ministry of Works spokesman Babakura Bukar.
