Dr. Christopher Kolade Resigns As SURE-P Chairman




Dr. Christopher Kolade, in an exclusive interview with ThisDay, has confirmed his resignation as chairman of the Subsidy Re- investment and Empowerment Programme (SURE-P).
And this is happening days after

N500bn SURE-P fund was declared missing.

According to ThisDay, Kolade has already informed President Goodluck Jonathan of his wish to step down as chairman of SURE-P latest by the end of November before his 81st birthday, which comes up in December.

12-Year-Old Chisom Okechukwu Commits Suicide In Ebonyi



A 12-year-old girl, Miss Chisom Okechukwu, has committed suicide, hanging herself at her family compound at Nnoche-Uduke Community in Okpoitumo in the Ikwo Local Government Part of Ebonyi.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Okechukwu, a principal five pupil at Nnoche-Uduke Primary School, was said to have left home on Saturday and wasn't seen until Sunday morning, hanging on a tree at the back of her compound.

Aliyu intends to Name 400 northern traitors




THE Governor of Niger State and Chairman of the Northern Governors forum , Babangida Aliyu, on Saturday said around 400 northerners betrayed the North after obtaining income from mercenaries. He threatened to publish the list soon.
Aliyu who released that disclosure while making homage to the late Emir of Minna Alhaji Ahmadu Bahago at the 25th anniversary of the Emir of Minna Alhaji Umaru Faruk Bahago said the North was not scared of 2015 elections.

Ukrainian police fire tear gas in clashes with pro-Europe protesters in Kiev.



Thousands of pro-Europe protesters in Ukraine attempted to storm the government building in the capital of Kiev Sunday, clashing with police who fired tear gas to keep them back.

Protesters tried to break through police ranks surrounding the building, with some throwing stones and hitting officers with the signs they were carrying, as police fought back with batons.

President Goodluck Jonathan has described as fiction the story that he fell ill in London after a “heavy birthday party thrown to celebrate his 56th birthday” at the Intercontinental Hotel.

The President’s special adviser on media, Dr. Reuben Abati, in a press statement today, expressed regrets that despite the open admittance of the president’s ill health in London, some online organs went ahead to make what he called ” scurrilous distortions of the facts of the President’s indisposition”.

Ole Gba ,Ole Gbe: NNPC Sold $20.9bn Crude, Remits Just $7bn



The House of Representatives on Thursday ordered another round of investigation into the sale of crude oil and its remittances by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation to the nation's account. The focus of the new investigation is “volume and value of crude oil sales and remittances” by NNPC from January to date.
“Among the areas of concern is the NNPC's Joint Venture operations. There are several billions of dollars that are unaccounted for. Some JV partners should come prior to the committee and give information that the NNPC cannot contradict.
“Now, whenever you confront NNPC with this information, they don't address the difficulties at stake. Reports from the Auditor-General's Office have many cases contrary to the NNPC. When this investigation is being conducted, I urge the ad-hoc committee to liaise with the Public Accounts Committee. We've information we are able to give the committee to help the investigation.”

A United Methodist minister convicted of breaking church law by officiating at the same-sex wedding of his son in the US said on Tuesday he is unrepentant, declaring he has been called by God to be an advocate for the rights of gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transgender people.

The Reverend Frank Schaefer, testifying at the penalty phase of his church trial, again refused to promise he wouldn’t perform another same-sex union. Three of his four children are gay.
“The church needs to stop judging people based on their sexual orientation”, he said.

We Are Going To Court For Iyayi - Femi Falana (SAN)



Mr. Femi Falana (SAN), yesterday, vowed to pursue the circumstances surrounding the death of the President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, Professor Festus Iyayi in court.
He disclosed this while addressing journalists over Iyayi's death. Iyayi died in a road accident on Okene -Lokoja Road when the convoy of Kogi State Governor, Idris Wada rammed into his car.
