President Goodluck Jonathan denies drinking spree on birthday, condemns rumour-mongers.



President Goodluck Jonathan has described as fiction the story that he fell ill in London after a “heavy birthday party thrown to celebrate his 56th birthday” at the Intercontinental Hotel.

The President’s special adviser on media, Dr. Reuben Abati, in a press statement today, expressed regrets that despite the open admittance of the president’s ill health in London, some online organs went ahead to make what he called ” scurrilous distortions of the facts of the President’s indisposition”.

Pres Jonathan feeling better now, presides around a meeting in London.



What happened yesterday was really impressive. The president telling his people that he's not feeling well and undergoing medical attention. A sharp contrast with what obtained in the past. Now we know he's feeling better and has left the hospital. Let's continue this way, keeping the Nigerian people informed. Members of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) today celebrated the 56th birthday of President Goodluck Jonathan at the council chambers of the presidential villa. The brief celebration was done shortly ahead of the commencement of the weekly meeting though the President is in London for the Honorary International Investors'Council (HIIC) meeting.

Again, the Super Eagles have demonstrated why they are the Champions of Africa. The match today in Calabar was a master piece bit of great footballing. This is actually the type of team work and synergy that the entire world has come to anticipate from not just our football teams, but from the general Nigerian society. With the kind of play we witnessed today, the World Cup is within reach.
