Israel Builds detention center in the desert for African Asylum seekers



The Isreali government has built a 9,000 person capacity detention facility in the southern desert where illegal African Immigrants would be detained. According to the Isreali government, the illegal immigrants who seek asylum in the country are becoming a burden to the govt and so they would be moved from the Shaharonim detention centre were they are presently being held to the new facility, a place human rights group have called a De-facto prison.

In this new facility which is situated in the desert, the immigrants will be locked down at night, and forced to check-in with the Israeli authorities three times per day. They will also be barred from working outside the centre. Continue after the break.

R.I.P: Ace broadcaster Walter Oyatogun dies.



 Veteran broadcaster Walter Oyatogun, who ruled the airwaves in the 70s & 80s on Nigeria Television Authority (NTA), has passed on. The legendary sportscaster died on Friday February 14th after years of battling ill health. May his soul rest in peace...Ase.

1st Lady not hospitalised, pays condolence visit to FCT Minister.



 Sahara Reporters reported a couple of days ago that First Lady Patience Jonathan had fallen ill and had been flown abroad for treatment. No presidential aide denied the report online however in what appears to be a move to dispel the report, Mama Peace made a public appearance yesterday Sunday Feb. 16th at the Abuja residence of the Minister of the FCT, Senator Bala Mohammed, where she commiserated with him within the death of his elder brother, Mallam Yusuf Mohammed. Genocide of the highest Order: Boko Haram kills 106 people in fresh attack in Borno state.



According to reports, Boko Haram members launched a fresh attack on indigenes of Izghe, a Christian community in Gwoza LGA of  Borno State, killing 106 people on Saturday February 15th.   According to eye witnesses, the men who came dressed in military attire, chanted Allah is great as they slit the throats of the people they came across and also fired gun shots at them. Some of the victims were made to come out of their homes and were then killed in an execution like manner.

Confirming the attack, Senator Ali Ndume who represents that senatorial district in the National Assembly says 106 people were killed including an old woman.
"106 people, including an old woman, have been killed by the attackers, suspected to be Boko Haram gunmen. Sixty of the dead have been buried while the rest are awaiting burial,” he said.

Abia Governor’s Son 'IKUKU' Kills His P.A kill with impunity In Broad Day Light



Son to Governor T.A Orji of Abia State, Chinedu Orji aka “IKUKU” yesterday displayed another level of his usual unruly and criminal behavior at the Okpara square, Umauhia, venue of the official declaration of his father’s senatorial ambition ahead of the 2015 general elections.
“IKUKU”, the self acclaimed Governor of the state, who was angered by the utterance of his late PA over a minor issue, directed his police orderly to shoot the late aide. All efforts to save the victim did not yield any result as he lost blood profusely. The ugly development did not allow the event hold as planned as people took to their heels leaving the place deserted.

Ukraine releases all detained protesters



Ukraine’s leader has called for the opposition to yield some ground as authorities announced the release of hundreds of detained protesters days ahead of a mass, anti-government demonstration.

Tiwa Savage Arrested For Assaulting A Police Officer ?



Forte Oil ambassador and top Nigerian female singer, Tiwa Savage was arrested in front of Eko Hotel for removing a policeman's cap from his head yesterday.Tiwa had allegedly violated a traffic law, so the policeman stopped her. Allegedly during the course of these interaction, out of annoyance, Tiwa forcefully removed the officer's cap and threw it away. She was then arrested and taken away.

Famous Politician murdered on val's day, Shot Dead By Sleeping Policeman In Kwara




Tragedy struck at a hotel in Oro, Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State about 11.15pm on Friday when a policeman, Yunus Muideen, allegedly shot dead, a popular politician in the LGA, Femi Awoyale.

Awoyale was said to be a former Irepodun LG chairmanship aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party.

It is provided that youths of Oro town launched protest when they heard of Awoyale’s death.
According to an eye witness who pleaded anonymity, the management of the hotel had invited policemen to ensure security of lives and property at the hotel for Valentine fun seekers.
He added that about 11.15pm on Friday, Muideen, a corporal, who was said to have been sleeping after allegedly being drunk, was woken up by noise from the vicinity.

LASU to reopen on Monday (See date)



Lagos State University (LASU) Senate has fixed  Monday, February 24, to reopen  the school, shut down  three  weeks ago following students unrest. After several hours of  deliberations  of the Senate made up of   Provosts, Deans and Directors, it was directed that the university be re-opened  to allow  final year students across all departments to sit for their 2012/2013 academic session second semester examinations.

FG Set to Grant Boko Haram Amnesty - Sets up Implementation Panel

Libya PrisonBreak: 92 prisoners pick race after attacking guards



Ninety two prisoners have escaped from the prison in a western town in Libya because of weak security, the most recent sign of limited government control in the oil-rich North African country.

 Spokesman of the Zliten local council, Hassan bin Sophia, said only four guards were watching 220 criminal and political detainees at the prison on Friday. He said the prisoners called for a doctor, and when the prison gate was opened, they attacked the guards and fled. Bin Sophia said 19 prisoners were soon recaptured, two of them wounded when guards opened fire.
