Photos: Lagos State sets up Isolation Wards for Ebola victims



 Lagos State Government has built Isolation Centers for patients with symptoms of the Ebola virus at the Mainland Hospital in Yaba. The isolation ward is situated at the back of the hospital and are tents 
under which patients are camped and fenced in with planks.  

The isolation centre was built to help contain the situation and reduce possible spread of the disease.

Lagos Governor Babatunde Fashola, Commissioners for Health, Dr Jide Idris, and Special Adviser on Public Health, Dr Yewande Adeshina visited the place today and said the facility is ready for use.

No fresh case of Ebola in Lagos - Lagos state Government says



The Lagos state government says no fresh case of Ebola virus has been discovered in the state or in any part of the country. 

According to the Special Adviser to the Lagos state Governor on Public Health, Dr (Mrs) Yewande Adeshina, all the 59 people who had direct or indirect contact with late Liberian Patrick Sawyer who died last Friday in Lagos from the virus, have been traced, tested and found to be hale and hearty and have not exhibited any unusual body temperature or any other symptoms of the dreaded virus.

Motorcycle Riders Lynch 2 Policemen In Festac Lagos State



Two policemen serving at Area ‘E’ Festac Town, Lagos State, western Nigeria, have been reportedly lynched by angry commercial motorcycle riders in the area.
Sources said the victims, a sergeant and an inspector simply called Bashiru, were lynched when they attempted to seize some motorcycles at notorious spot called Aso Rock in Festac Town.

First Lady of Lagos State, Mrs. Dame Emmanuella Abimbola Fashola, on Saturday called for a more responsive society that will take good care of the elderly ones and also make life more meaningful for them.

Dame Fashola, made this known at the party organized for the elderly members of the Lagos society to celebrate this year’s Valentine’s Day by the Committee Of Wives of Lagos State Government Officials (COWLSO) at the Retirement Villa located in Lekki Phase 11 Ajah area of the state.

Lagos State Government reveals plans to offer okada riders jobs




The Lagos State Government may offer jobs to genuine commercial motorcycle operators affected by the recent ban on their operations.

The State Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Kayode Opeifa, however said that any measure arrived at by the government to provide succor to the commercial motorcycle operators  in Lagos would be restricted to the genuinely registered ones.

He spoke at the 11th Business Forum of the Lagos State University’s MBA Heritage held on Lagos Island on Wednesday. He said that the decision to ban Okada in Lagos streets was irrevocable.
