Moscow expects full-scale ceasefire from Ukrainian authorities - FM Lavrov

Russia expects the Ukrainian authorities to provide a full-scale rather than temporary ceasefire in southeastern regions, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said. That was the Russian foreign minister's comment on the unilateral ceasefire initiative of Poroshenko. Martial law in eastern Ukraine will give a free hand to Ukrainian law enforcers rather than help de-escalate tensions, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov opined.

NATO starts large-scale maneuvers near Russia's European borders

Large-scale maneuvers of NATO's rapid deployment forces have started near Russia's European borders.

These maneuvers, dubbed Steadfast Jazz, are NATO's largest ones within the last decade.
The maneuvers are taking place in the Baltic countries and Poland. Taking part are, in total, more than 6,000 troops, about 350 armed vehicles, 57 planes and helicopters, 11 overwater ships and 2 submarines.
Besides the alliance's forces, taking part are NATO's partners – Ukraine, Macedonia, Sweden and Finland.
scenario of this war game has an evident anti-Russian “flavor”. According to this scenario, NATO is repelling an attack of a certain state against the Baltic countries. It is not said what country is the aggressor, but the only neighbors of the Baltic states that are not taking part in the maneuvers are Russia and Belarus.

INEC Preparing Special Salary Scale For Its Staff To Lead Them Away From “Great Temptations” – Oluro

The Independent National Electoral Commission, it has been revealed, might be planning a special salary scale for its workers. National Commissioner of INEC in charge of South-West, Prof. Lai Olurode, made this known in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State, on Thursday. According to Olurode, the commission is seeking special pay for its workers to motivate them and to discourage them from engaging in electoral malpractice. He said, “The commission is working to make sure that the staff begin to enjoy a special salary scale. What the commission is doing is a special assignment and we know that the workers are open to great temptations, especially from politicians.
“The work is very risky and the workers who do their work as expected at times risk being killed. We hope that this would be granted before the 2015 election. We have started engaging the relevant authorities to make sure that this is done.” The INEC commissioner also added that INEC would do everything to make the workers happy in order to get the best from them.
