Emir Of Kano SLS Withdraws Lawsuit Against President Jonathan



Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, the former Governor of Central Bank, who is now the Emir of Kano, has formally withdrawn his lawsuit challenging his removal as the governor of the Apex Bank.

Abubakar Mahmoud, his lawyer told the National Industrial Court that the Emir wishes to withdraw his case against President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and two other defendants in the suit.

Ministry of Interiors Saudi Arabia bans 51 baby names: Malak, Linda, Rital, Emir...



The Ministry of Interior has added 51 names to its list of banned names for babies born in the Kingdom. In its statement, the Civil Status Department said some names are not in line with social traditions while others are not appropriate in terms of religion or have a Western origin. Parents cannot give their newly-born babies the following names: Malak, Abdul Ati, Abdul Nasser, Abdul Mosleh, Nabi, Nabiya, Emir, Somu, Al-Mamlaka, Malika, Mamlaka, Tabaraka, Nardeen, Maya, Linda, Randa, Basmalah, Tuleen, Arm, Nareej, Rital, Als, Sandi, Rama, Maleen, Eleen, Alas, Ainar, Loran, Malkiteena, Lareen, Kibriyal, Laureen, Binyameen, Narees, Yara, Sitaf, Aileen, Loland, Tilaj, Barah, Abdul Nabi, Abdul Rasool, Jibreel, Abdul Mo’een, Abrar, Milak, Aiman, Bayan, Baseel and Rilam.

Emir Of Kano Attack: Kano Govt Donates Three-Bedroom Flats, N1m To Families Of Slain Aides



Although no amount of  money can bring back the dead, it can at least help to offset some burden occassioned by the loss of a loved one. Perhaps that was what the Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso had in mind when he donated a three-bedroom flat and N1 million each to the families of three members of staff of the Kano Emirate who lost their lives protecting the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero, when gunmen attacked his convoy one week ago.

Buhari’s comments on Emir’s attack reckless – Presidency





The Presidency, on Tuesday, described the comments made by a former Head of State and National Leader of the Congress for Progressive Change, Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), on Saturday’s attack on the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero, as “reckless”.
Describing Buhari’s comments also as “opportunistic”, the Presidency warned politicians, especially members of the opposition, not to use the attack to make cheap political statements.
It also noted that the comments by Buhari and that of the Nigeria Labour Congress were “irresponsible”.

"How My Brother Died Protecting Kano Emir"




Shuaibu Bala yesterday gave an account of how his elder brother, Alhaji Ado Bala, a personal aide of the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero, died while trying to protect the monarch when he was targeted by gunmen on Saturday.
The attack on the Emir left at least seven people dead and several others injured, including Bayero’s two sons, Chiroman Kano, Alhaji Sanusi Ado Bayero and Turakin Kano, Alhaji Nasiru Ado Bayero.

Governor confirms four dead in Emir of Kano attack





The Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has confirmed that four people died when gunmen attacked the Emir of Kano, Ado Bayero on Saturday morning.
Mr. Kwankwaso spoke to journalists shortly after emerging from the Emir’s private quarters where he went to commiserate with him. He said the four dead include the emir’s driver, orderly, and palace guards. Meanwhile, reports say the former Chairman of Kumbotso Local Government Area of Kano, Salisu Kura, was also killed during the attack.

Emir Of Kano Flown To London After Assassination Attempt




The Emir of Kano, Ado Bayero, has been flown to London, barely 24 hours after an assassination attempt on his life.The monarch was returning to his Palace, after being a guest at a Quranic recitation competition, when his convoy was attacked by unknown assailants. Eyewitnesses at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano, confirmed that the Emir travelled on a private jet at about 1.30pm with his son, the Ciroman Kano, Sanusi Ado Bayero, who took a bullet in the attack. Some of his guards who were also hit by bullets were on the flight.

Men on motorbike and in a car this afternoon attacked the convoy of the Emir of Kano, Ado Bayero, at Masalaci Murtala area of Kano. The Emir was returning from a ceremony at a mosque when the men opened fire on his convoy. The Emire survived the attack, but his driver and two guards were killed.

No group has taken responsibility for the attack...
