Apologies to Azazi

As the security question in the country is gradually, if not completely, turning to a complete puzzle, which will take a lot more than the normal requirements to unravel, it is further aggravated by a myriad of confusing unfolding of events, criss-crossing of opinions and viewpoints from supposed experts and consultants on security, avalanche of media festering, and of course spinning and counter-spinning of moves. Behind all these drama and activities, more and more lives are being savagely and avoidably cut short, more lands are being crippled and turned in to wastelands of blood and despair, and the cycle continues with no foreseeable end in sight. No one is talking here of the economies of such places which will take only God knows how long to resuscitate.

“All Lives Are Equal” – Co-Pilot’s Family Laments Preferential Treatment For Yakowa, Azazi

All fingers are equal but some are more equal than others. That is what aptly describes the mood of the family of Lt. Adeyemi Sowole, the co-pilot of the Navy helicopter which crashed on Saturday in Bayelsa State as they have expressed disappointment that authorities have only focussed their attention on the dignitaries that died on the flight, while ignoring their son. “All lives are equal. At this point, the right thing to do is for government to treat all the victims with respect and give them the same recognition.

Azazi, Yakowa Tragedy: Crashed Navy Helicopter Had ‘Engine Failure’ After 10 Trips

The Nigeria navy executive Agusta 109E helicopter, which crashed yesterday killing Kaduna State Governor Patrick Yakowa, former NSA Andrew Owoye Azazi and four others, had engine failure, naval sources have said. SaharaReporters learned that the pilot of the helicopter communicated with the control tower in Port Harcourt to report the problem before it crashed to the ground and caught fire. The chopper belonged to the Nigeria navy, but it had been placed at the exclusive service of the president in the Niger Delta region.
The navy has had three Agusta 109E helicopters.  In 2007, one of them crashed due to bad weather as it approached the Owerri airport in the night, accompanying INEC election materials. Four persons died in the crash.  The other two, NN07 and NN08, which actively worked the Bayelsa airspace yesterday, were commissioned in 2009.

Governor Yakowa, Former NSA Gen Azazi Killed in Helicopter Crash

It's a black Saturday in Nigeria as a helicopter carrying the governor of Kaduna State, Patrick Yakowa and former National Security Adviser, Gen. Andrew Owoeye Azazi and several aides crashed in Bayelsa State.
They were attending the burial of the father of the Special Assistant to President Goodluck Jonathan on Research, Documentation and Strategy, Oronto Douglas. Security and Aviation sources say Governor Yakowa and Gen Azazi have been confirmed dead. Another source said there are no survivors.

May the souls of the dead rest in peace!
