The Story of OBJ and Atiku Abubakar ( Must Read)

Culled From Vanguard Nigeria
This is the story of how former President Olusegun Obasanjo and former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, first met, and how their relationship blossomed before nose-diving over political ambition. In his soon-to-be released auto-biography, ATIKU ABUBAKAR, THE STORY OF MY LIFE, it is discovered that whereas Obasanjo appointed Atiku as his running mate in 1999, there are pieces of information before that fact to suggest that the former may indeed be indebted to the latter.

Convention: Atiku Protests Exclusion

As politicians begin  subtle battles ahead of 2015 elections, a former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has complained that he is being sidelined by the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Already, he said his name was not on the delegates lists from Adamawa State chapter of the party for the August 31 Special National Convention.  The party will use the convention to elect some of its national officers, who resigned recently due to irregularities in the last election that brought them to office.

Atiku is also protesting against his not being invited for the party’s National Executive Committee and Board of Trustees meetings, which he said should not be so “since he is a statutory delegate as a former Vice President.”

"As a father, I've never given out my daughters in marriage before university graduation " Atiku Abubakar #ChildNotBride‬

Former vice president Atiku Abubakar has added his voice to the #ChildNotBride campaign:
"As a father, I've never given out my daughters in marriage before university graduation. It's a personal decision. I had earlier stated my personal choices on the child marriage issue; I have always supported our women and children.
"For the avoidance of doubt, I do not support any constitutional provision which creates ambiguities about the age of consent for marriage. It's therefore very inspiring to see young Nigerians active and organized on ‪#ChildNotBride‬.
"I'm proud to see an engaged generation at work."

PDP convention: Atiku’s name missing on delegates’ list

Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar will not vote in the Peoples Democratic Party forthcoming national convention as his name is not on the list of delegates submitted to the party from his home state, Adamawa.
The party has tentatively slated August 20 for the special mini convention. Sources, however, said the date “is not sacrosanct.” The list signed by the party’s factional chairman in the state, Mr. Joel Madaki, an ally of the National Chairman of the PDP, Dr. Bamanga Tukur, was sighted by our correspondent in Abuja on Sunday.
Though Governor Murtala Nyako of Adamawa State does not belong to the Madaki faction, his name appears on the list.

Former Information Minister and Chairman PDP Convention Planning Committee, Prof. Jerry Gana, had said only those that voted at the 2012 convention, where the members of the party’s National Working Committee were elected, would vote at the mini convention.

Atiku Abubakar Rejects Automatic Tickets For President, Governors

FORMER Vice President Atiku Abubakar has again rejected plans by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to tamper with the party’s constitution, with a view to granting automatic tickets to elected officers, particularly the president and governors.

In a statement, signed by the Atiku Media Office, Saturday, the former Vice President said he would challenge any procedure, either “consensus arrangement” or “adoption” that is contrary to transparent elections to produce candidates for all elective offices, including the presidency.

Atiku was responding to another kite being flown by Chief Tony Anenih, chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees, who has advocated that the party should give an automatic ticket to President Jonathan in 2015.

The former Vice President recalled that he was repeatedly in courts to challenge this undemocratic arrangement and that the courts ruled that the policy is alien to the PDP and Nigerian constitutions.

Atiku said the principle on which he opposed this unjust policy, which he describes as a “travesty of democracy”, has not changed since then.

EXPOSED: I was persecuted because Atiku chose me as running mate – Alamieyeseigha

Former governor of Bayelsa State, Chief Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, has attributed his travails over allegations of corruption to the power tussle between former President Olusegun Obasanjo and his vice, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar over the 2007 presidency.
Speaking to newsmen in Lagos, Alamieyeseigha said he was persecuted by President Obasanjo because of the alleged plan by Atiku Abubakar to nominate him as his running mate during the 2007 presidential election. The former Bayelsa State governor said his arrest and travails in London and Nigeria over allegation of corruption was political, promising to expose those behind his travail in his memoirs, which he is presently writing.
His words: “The summary of it is that Atiku Abubakar, according to Obasanjo, nominated me as his running mate. End of story. He (Obasanjo) said it was over his dead body and that he would fight me and Atiku to the end of the world. He said that unless he dies, Atiku could not be president of Nigeria. That was the beginning and the end of the story.

Why Security Situation Was Better During Our Time – Atiku

Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has described the current wave of insecurity in Nigeria as worse than the Nigeria Civil War, which lasted for three years.
The former Vice-President said on Friday that the situation was made worse due to President Goodluck Jonathan-led administration’s lack of attention to security of lives and property.
Atiku made this known on Friday in an interview with the Hausa Service of the British Broadcasting Corporation monitored in Kaduna.
He said, “All you see today are security men with guns, which should not be the case.”
He said the dimension of today’s security challenges makes it hard to tackle because the money meant for the purpose had been allegedly stolen.

Obasanjo, El-Rufai and I — Atiku

Atiku Abubakar was the Vice-President during the Chief Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration between 1999 and 2007. The founding member of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party shares his experience in the party and the privatisation exercise under his leadership in this online interview with LEKE BAIYEWU
As a founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party, why did you leave your party for the opposition Action Congress in 2006?
I had to leave because I was pushed to the limit. You know what happened during that period and we don’t have to go through it all over again. A scheme was introduced, by which I and my supporters were removed from the party under the guise of re-registration. Of course, the bigger scheme was to ensure that I did not succeed my boss (Olusegun Obasanjo). You saw how the cards were stacked against me to pursue my presidential aspiration under PDP. They had me suspended from the party, even beyond the length of time permitted by the PDP constitution. The party rejected and flouted all courts orders in respect of my rights as a party member.

El-Rufai’s book is a collection of fiction' - Atiku Abubakar

Former FCT minister Mallam El-Rufai wrote a memoir titled The Accidental Public Servant which was unveiled in Abuja today, and in the book he criticized a few politicians...one of them former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar. In the book, El-Rufai described Atiku as a corrupt power hungry politician and alleged that he (El-Rufai) had almost resigned as the former Director General of the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) because of persistent pressure and interference by Atiku, who was then the Chairman of the National Council on Privatization

Gumi: 'Evil' Jonathan - Repent And Resign; IBB, Obasanjo, Buhari, Atiku - Banned To Cleanse Nigerian

Fearless Islamic scholar, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has declared President Goodluck Jonathan "evil" and a failure, and called on him to repent and resign in order to recreate peace in Nigeria. He also said that many top former military Heads of State, Generals Yakubu Gowon, Muhammadu Buhari and Ibrahim Babangida be banned from participating in active Nigerian politics.
Gumi was speaking in a morning sermon today in Kaduna titled "The Man Jonathan", underlining that the sermon was neither criticism nor praise of a man. He said that Islam teaches that all prophets and people of God are in the Right extreme of the spectrum, while those that fight, oppose and suppress them or their mission are in the left extreme apparently the black.
