Ukraine: opposition leaders, Western countries to blame for clashes escalation - Lavrov

Several Western countries to blame for failure of understanding between Ukranian government and opposition by encouraging opposition to provocate actions and threatening with sanctions, said Russia FM Sergei Lavrov. Russia urges West to refrain from obtrusive mediation in Ukraine, said Lavrov.

Extremists are to blame for the events happening in Ukraine, however opposition forces, which refused the compromise, and Western countries, which interfered in the domestic affairs of Ukraine, bare some responsibility as well, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
"Of course, the blame is on extremists, who tried all these weeks and all these months to bring the situation to such forceful scenario but considerable share of responsibility is also on opposition activists, who refused compromise, gave the authorities demands outside the legal frame and in the end turned out to be incapable to fulfill what has been agreed," Lavrov said at a news conference following a meeting with his Kuwaiti counterpart.

Stoppoing US drone attacks would be a sign of weakness - Expert

The United States is planning to transform airbases in Central Asia to perform drone attacks in Pakistan. The US claimed that their main goal is Al-Qaeda destruction, but the total number of civilians killed is already about 2.500. The Voice of Russia talked to military extpert and political analyst Muhammad Aslam Khan.

Why does the US perceive its drones as an effective military solution?
It is very economical. It is a question of saving a lot of effort implementing drones for attacking each target. Another aspect is that America is pulling out from Afghanistan and most of the Western press is labeling it as a departure of the troops. But actually, the situation on the ground dictates that this should rather be called a hasty withdrawal, if not a retreat. America wants to save its face, particularly in the domestic politics, because after an over a decade battle against the Afghan Taliban there hasn’t been any clear success.

I was responsible for Amaechi's 2007 complications – Obasanjo

FORMER President Olusegun Obasanjo has said that he should be held responsible for the travails of the Rivers State Governor, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, before and after the 2007 governorship election.
Obasanjo explained that rather than blame Dr. Peter Odili, who was Amaechi’s predecessor, the state governor should realise that he (Obasanjo) was fully in charge and responsible for his (Amaechi) woes.
It will be recalled that Obasanjo surprisingly denied Amaechi the PDP governorship ticket during the build up to the 2007 general election in Rivers State, declaring the Ikwerre-born politician’s case as having a K-leg.
K-leg is an euphemism used by Obasanjo in 2007 to describe the reason why he did not give Amaechi the governorship ticket.
