Presidency shared ₦22.4m to Chibok parents, escaped girls -Community





The Kibaku Area Development Association (Chibok community), has explained that the Presidency shared 22.4m to the Chibok parents and the escaped girls that held a meeting with President Goodluck Jonathan on July 22,2014, contrary to reports that N100m was doled out to the recipients.

The Chibok community leadership refuted allegations that it was given N100m to share to the parents and women, adding that it did not handle or receive any money from the Presidency.

President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan deplores the continuing terrorist assault on Kano and the heinous bombing of the Aminu Kano College of Islamic and Legal Studies today.

He similarly deplores the attacks on two mosques in Potiskum, Yobe State yesterday.

President Jonathan condemns the repeated targeting of worshippers, and   innocent students who are the nation’s future by depraved terrorists.

House Republicans to vote to sue Obama





The US House of Representatives is set to pass legislation authorising it to sue President Barack Obama for what Republican leaders describe as his overreach of authority.


The resolution is expected to pass the Republican-controlled chamber in a party line vote on Wednesday.

Its sponsors say Obama exceeded his powers when he delayed an insurance deadline in his healthcare law.

Heavy Fighting Prevents International Experts from Accessing MH17 Crash Site



 A group of independent experts from Australia and the Netherlands was again unable to reach the crash site of Malaysian Flight MH17 due to heavy fighting between militia and the Ukrainian Army, according to the Australian Federal Police (AFP).


“The joint team of Australian and Dutch investigators, accompanied by independent monitors from the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) have again suspended any attempt today to visit the MH17 wreckage whilst negotiations continue to secure safe access to the site,” the police agency said Wednesday in a media release.

PDP, Fayose get order to inspect electoral materials



The Ekiti Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal on Wednesday granted an order allowing the Peoples Democratic Party and the Governor-elect, Mr Ayodele Fayose, to inspect all materials used in the June 21 governorship election in the state.
The three-man panel, chaired by Justice Muhammad Sirajo, granted the order following an exparte application by their counsel, Dolapo Kolade, which was brought pursuant to Section 151 of the Electoral Act 2010, as amended

The panel had on July 23 granted similar relief to the All Progressives Congress which is before the tribunal challenging the victory of Fayose in the governorship election.
The Independent National Electoral Commission declared Fayose winner of the election ahead of the incumbent governor and candidate of the APC, Dr. Kayode Fayemi.
The PDP also sought an order allowing other interested party to enjoy same privilege, and an order compelling security agencies to be present at the point of inspection.

Ohanaeze youths demand protection of Igbos in North





The Ohanaeze Youth Wing has asked the Northern Governors Forum to reassure Igbos living in the North of their safety within 21 days.

The Ohanaeze Youth Wing, which issued the ultimatum in a statement by its President, Chief Okechukwu Isiguzoro, which was made available to our correspondent on Wednesday, warned that it would take

“necessary action” if the northern governors failed to give the required assurance.
Isiguzoro explained that the ultimatum was in response to a statement attributed to the Arewa Consultative Forum, in which Igbo investments in the North were listed as targets of retaliatory attacks following alleged victimisation of Northern Muslims in Imo State.

18-Year-Old Charged For Murdering 11-Year-Old Girl At SleepOver



An 18-year-old boy, by the name of Tevin Lee, shot and killed 11-year-old Shamiya Adams while she was attending a friend’s slumber party.
A stray bullet hit Shamiya and sources say the reason Tevin fired in the first place was to get revenge for a friend who was beaten up.
This situation took place on the July 18th, 2014 when Shamiya Adams was at a friend’s house in the Garfield Park neighborhood, peacefully enjoying her short-lived childhood. Shamiya Adams was pronounced dead the next day at Mount Sinai Hospital. Tevin Lee is retarded because the gangsters told him his target wasn’t even in the area.

Another female suicide bomber blew herself up at Kano Polytechnic this afternoon July 30th as students were checking their results in the school. Kano State Police Command confirmed the blast but didn't state how many casualties. Perhaps you have guys noticed how it's now women blowing themselves up? 

Ambassador Was Wrongly Linked To Late Ebola Victim – LASG



The Lagos State Government yesterday clarified that the Nigerian Ambassador to Liberia, Mrs Chigozie Obi-Nnadozie was wrongly linked to the Ebola victim, Patrick Sawyer, who died in Lagos last Friday after flying into the country from Monrovia.
A statement signed by the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Media, Hakeem Bello, explained that it was the federal government officials working in collaboration with officials of the state government that provided the name of the ambassador as one of the persons, who came into contact with the late Sawyer.

Somali woman killed for not allegedly wearing veil




Militant Islamists in Somalia have shot dead a Muslim woman for refusing to wear a veil, her relatives say.

The nomadic woman was killed outside her hut near the southern Somali town of Hosingow by gunmen belonging to the al-Shabab group, they added.  The militants had ordered her to put on a veil, and then killed her after returning and finding she was still not wearing one, the relatives said.

10 die in India landslide





At least 10 people have died after a landslide buried more than 40 houses and left 160 people trapped under debris in a village in western India.

The first teams of emergency workers have arrived in Malin village near the city of Pune in Maharashtra state where the disaster happened. Rescuers trying to reach survivors caught under the debris are being hampered by bad weather. Reports said that heavy rains had triggered the landslide.

Jonathan unveils new e-passport




President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday launched Nigeria’s new 64-page e-passport with a call on Nigerians to protect the image of the country by shunning uncomplimentary statements and actions. 

Jonathan launched the traveling document shortly before the commencement of the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
He and Vice President Namadi Sambo later took turns to be captured in order to be issued with the new traveling document.

Man tested for Ebola in UK





A man has been tested for Ebola in Birmingham and another has visited a UK hospital over fears he was showing symptoms of the deadly Ebola virus.

The checks come after the Government’s chief scientist warned that deadly diseases such as Ebola are a “potentially major threat” to Britain following the death of an American man who was able to travel through an international hub.

A man, who had travelled from Benin in Nigeria via Paris to the Midlands was taken to hospital in Birmingham on Monday after he said he felt feverish.
