There are reports that three people lost their lives earlier today in a motor accident on the 3rd Mainland Bridge in Lagos causing heavy traffic gridlock on the ever busy link between Lagos Mainland and the Island. The accident involved a Black Prado Jeep whose three occupants reportedly died on the spot. The driver of the car was said to have been trapped with efforts being made to extricate him from the wreck. The reason for the accident is yet to be ascertained but sources say the car lost among its tyres while on top speed making the driver lose control of the jeep. As a consequence of this, there's heavy traffic on the bridge, though traffic officers are trying their utmost to revive normalcy.

A polytechnic student early in the new year plunged his parent into disappointment after he was discovered dead in his room.

Timilehin Ayobami Ogundare, a part-time student at The Polytechnic, Ibadan, the Oyo money is believed to have taken his own life.

The deceased is claimed to have attempted suicide before but he was apprehended by vigilante before he could jump right into a stream in which he planned to drown.

Ogundare was released to his parent after the event but he still managed to hang himself at his parent residence in Abeokuta, the Ogun capital.

Tunde Olawuwo, an area pastor with the Redeemed Religious Church of God, RCCG, and a elderly supervisor at Red Star Express, a courier business, has been murdered. His killers were not just content taking his life, they disembowelled him and placed his intestines on his chest, sources said. Sources said Olawuwo was killed at about 4 a.m on Sunday at his residence in Magboro part of Ogun State, Nigeria. The deceased, in his early 50s, was the chief internal Auditor at Red Star Express PLC and a location pastor in Install Zion Parish, Agiliti, Mile 12.

OWERRI — Five policemen, serving in Imo State police command, including the armourer of New Owerri police division, are now in detention over how one of the AK-47 rifles officially issued for guard duties, ended up in the hands of dare devil kidnappers operating in the state.

Confirming the develpoment to Vanguard in a telephone interview yesterday, the state Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Musa Katsina, said while four of the five policemen were explaining their involvement in the sordid act, the armourer is being tried for negligent conduct.

Residents of Saudi Arabia’s Jeddah were shocked to see human body parts suddenly falling from the night sky.

Human body parts fell from the sky in the city of Jeddah Sunday, with police saying they could be the remains of a person trapped in an airplane’s wheel bay.

“Police received a telephone call at 2:30 am from a witness reporting the fall of human remains at an intersection in Mushrefa neighbourhood” in the Red Sea city, spokesman Nawaf bin Naser al-Bouq said in a statement. Initial indications were that the remains “fell from a plan’s landing gear,” said Bouq, adding that investigations were ongoing.

A man was shot and killed Monday morning by law enforcement at Adenta in Accra for wrestling with law enforcement who have been supervising the demolition of unauthorized structures there.

Three others, suspected to be land guards were arrested.

These were alleged to have lunged at law enforcement with dangerous weapons in an endeavor to avoid the demolition exercise being carried out by a private developer at Aviation lands, Adentan in Accra.

The Commander of the Alfa Swat Unit of the Ghana Police Service, Supt T. K. Hlormenu, told Joy News'Francisca Kakra Forson, law enforcement were left without choice than to protect themselves.

This figure is contained in the details of the 2014 Appropriation Bill presented to the National Assembly by President Goodluck Jonathan through the Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala. The Federal Government has budgeted another N1.52b for the maintenance of the 10 aircraft currently in the PAF in 2014 and it is now set to spend just about that amount on a new one. President open to reconciliation with Obasanjo –Presidency

The Presidency on Sunday said President Goodluck Jonathan was favourably  disposed to mending fences with former President Olusegun. The Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Mr. Ahmed Gulak,  made this known on Sunday just as  The PUNCH  gathered that the  feud between   Jonathan and Obasanjo was   adding to the worries of the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party.

The sour relationship between the duo became public knowledge in December 2013 when Obasanjo wrote a letter titled “Before it is too late” to Jonathan.  In  the letter, he accused the President of condoning corruption, training snipers, putting some persons on a watch list and engaging in other acts capable of destroying the country. Jonathan replied Obasanjo openly, saying  his  letter  was    designed to incite Nigerians   against him.
